well I feel more safe with your opinion about the battery. The only thing I don´t know is where are made the 6300s that are sold in Mexico. And thanks in advance if you can find an office document viewer for 6300.

To LUIS:
The battery is quite fine on the 6300. All you need to ensure is that you have firmware v5.00. I'm very positive if you should purchase a 6300 right now you will get firmware version 5.00 and you will see the extended battery performance, believe me on this one.
Where document viewers are concerned, I was able to download a PDF document viewer. I'm sure I will be able to find other document viewers soon or in the near future.

TO OJ:
Well I´m glad to hear that you are happy with your 6300. The battery and the absence of document viewer are the main reasons for why I keep my 6230. Really it´s my best phone. Even if mine was made in China, for me it´s the best and I can say is at the same quality than the other 6230s manufactured in other countries. Thanks for let me know about the lag when you open the memory card, but this isn´t important to me (I tested a 6600 last week and it´s really slow). For that reason I´m looking for 6120c (which isn´t as fast as 6230 or 6300).

To LUIS:
My 6300 is ok but I haven't abandoned my beloved 6230. In fact I use it every night because by night my 6300 battery is normally finished due to me being on a service where I talk to a particular person all day long...a VIP service here in Jamaica where you pay a flat rate and talk all you want for the month. Normally by the time I get home I have to plug in the 6300 to charge and then I'm back to my trusty 6230.
LUIS, funny enough I decided to do a speed test between 6230 and 6300 last night and I tell you, my assumption about the 6300 handling the memory card faster was wrong. I put both of them side by side and pressed both keys simultaneously to see which one would open the memory card faster and the speed on both phones were the same. I have a feeling that the 6230 might open larger folders more quickly though, I am going to put that thought to the test later tonight. I have a 245MB folder on my 6230, I'm going to transfer it to my 6300 and see which phone opens that folder first. I have a feeling the 6230 will win.
Even though both phones handle the memory card at similar speeds the 6230 definitely handles the internal memory faster than 6300. For example, when the 6230 is in standby mode and you press the 'Menu' key, the menu appears instantly while the 6300 takes about 1.5 second so while there's no delay on the 6230 there's a slight delay on the 6300. I cannot crucify the 6300 for the slower speed though because we have to remember that there's 16.7 million colours to generate with each press of a key whereas the 6230 have 65,536 colours. In other words if we were to use the 6230's processor in the 6300, the 6300 would move really slow... look at the 6230i which turned out to have a lag in speed because the resolution was increased to 208x208 while the same processor from the original 6230 was used. When there's a change in resolution or colours the processor speed needs to be increased. So all in all the 6300 has a faster processor seeing that it has a 240x320 resolution and 16.7 million colours and yet the speed is right up there with 6230. So the bottomline is that the 6300 has a faster processor than 6230 but when put to the test the 6230 churns out a bit more speed. The difference in speed is nothing to complain about. You have to put both phones side by side and give them a thorough test to see the speed difference. All in all the 6300 is 'basically' as fast as the 6230.

I still have this phone. I was going to sold it to my cousin but he preferred to buy a cheap and crappy Motorola so I´ll keep it for a little more. A year and eight months after I bought it, still a good phone, it´s still on sale in my country (México) even if 6230i and 6300 are available too. The price of this phone has dropped down and now it cost 110 usd (it cost me 250 in December'05), only 20 usd. more than a 6080. So here is a great value for a phone like this and so durable. I´m still looking for a replacement but simply I can´t find it. Waiting for 6120c or a mid level S60, because I want to have office document viewer. But still love this phone and I´ll hardly have a better phone than my loyal 6230. Any other recommendation for a replacement??? OJ: How are you with your 6300?

To BEN:
Whenever I visit GSMArena the first place I check is the 6230 forum and then the 6300 forum. So Ben, as you can see, I WON'T turn my back on the 6230 users who need help (smile).

To BEN:
I got my new 6300 on August 27 but still used the 6230 for calls for a week and a half...until I decided to start using my SIM card in the 6300 last Wednesday (September 6th). BEN I tell you, it's a lovely phone. It handles the memory card faster than the 6230. Where was your friend's 6300 made ? Do you have any idea ? Mine was made in Hungary which is the best way to go. European phones are the best...clearer display, clearer sound . If you get one, you won't imagine having a better phone.
You know I love my 6230 and I STILL have it, haven't sold it...yet. I have had the 6230 for more than 2 years...the LONGEST I have ever had a cell phone for. I normally changed my phone in a few months or within a year maximum. When I had the 6230 using I told myself that it would have probably been my last phone...so BEN, for me to switch to 6300 you know it had to impress me enough.

TO OJ:
Did you already bought 6300??
Or you chose it, but you haven´t bought it yet??
I think it´s a good choise, enjoy your new phone, and I hope to see your comments in this 6230 forum, even if you already have 6300 to help people with problems on their 6230s. I´m going to sell my 6230 tomorrow or tuesday to one of my cousins so I know it´ll be in good hands and it´s for much the best phone I ever had. I was thinking on a replacement and maybe I´ll pick 6300 too. 6233 isn´t available in my country but maybe i´m going to wait a little more to see more models to come to my country. If not come any of my interest I´ll keep on my mind the idea to buy 6300. Please when you have your first weeks with your 6300 please comment us your experience with it. Maybe that will help me to my decission. thanks in advance

To BEN:
The biggest debate for the year is whether the 6230 successor's is Nokia 6300 or 6233. It's something that will make your head hurt. I will tell you why I chose the 6300 as my true replacement.
First of all the phone is the same as 6230's whereas the 6233 can only accomodate 500 contacts, big downgrade there for me. The 6300 is lighter in weight, 91 grams whereas the 6233 is 110 grams. The 6300 software is MORE enhanced with Feature Pack 2 compared to 6233's Feature Pack 1. The 6300 comes with Macromedia Flash Lite 2.0 whereas 6233 comes with Flash Lite 1.1. MOST OF ALL the 6300's screen BLOWS away the 6233 with 16.7 Million 24 bit true colour compared to 6233's 262,000 colours. Finally it's slimmer and more attractive. I'm NOT saying the 6300 is better than the 6233 in every area, all I'm saying is that I weighed the pros and cons between both devices between both phones and decided to go with the 6300. We all know that with Nokia you give and take when it comes to similarly configured phones but in the end one particular model stands tall. My primary reason and the most important reason for purchasing a phone is the telephony department and the 6300 beats the 6233 with it's 1,000 capacity phone book.

Hey Jamaican....nice to hear that at last you have changed your phone. personally i don't think 6300 is a better phone. the battery life is for a day only and camera is not good and the phone becomes hot while talking. i used this model in March 2007 and got rid of it within a month. now i own the slimmest phone in the world i.e. Samsung u100 (5.9 mm) which blows other models. the features that i like on u100 are below:
1. Built in answering machine (which saves money on accessing your voice mail)
2. Reject list (this helps when you don't want receive call/message from someone particular, you can add his no. in the reject list and he/she cannot access you)
3. Whisper mode (this helps when you are in a noisy environment, the person on the other side can hear you voice loud and clear, which i have tried and really works well)
4. Camera is 3.2 mega pixel and video records in Mp4 format.
5. Very wide screen and one will enjoy reading messages.
6. Multiple alarms.

The best modern phone replacement for the 6230 is the nokia 6233. It's better than the 6300 because it has stereo speakers and an infra red port. The software on the 6300 is the same as that of the 6233 and they are both s40 3rd edition. They also have similar a screen size and they both have the same features. The best replacement for 6230 is 6233 and not 6300. I'm having trouble with this phone(6230) because I can't delete any of the saved configuration settings. Please if any of us know how to delete this please tell us on this forum. Thanks in advance

To the unknown:
well, 6120c isn´t the newer 6230, but it has a shape and something that remember me the 6230. but for my point of view it´s the best sucessor for my 6230. And that because I´m looking for a phone with S60, and I heard so many good points of this phone. I have read the review, and I love it. great for me, but only waiting for its introduction to Mexican market, but I´m almost sure that it´ll be here because I think it´ll be a best seller
