Yes the 6230 is a Great mobile..I still have it[ Bought it in May 2004]..It still is close to my heart..& i agree with the Express on Cover thing u said..If i have the same feelings..
But of late i have tried usin the Smartphones from Nokia..the first was the Nokia 3230 & i Loved it though it had a lot of bugs & kept hangin a bit..Then i traded it after 3 weeks[ Because after usin the MP3 on the 6230..this felt like generations behind] & bought a new 6680 & believe me this is a Class Act just like the 6230 but with better perfection[ Great Camera & very decent Video Quality] & since it is a Smartphone..it can use applications such as the SmartMovie player which is just TOO GOOD..I mean DVD kind of Video Quality on the Mobile...
So try usin a Smart phone..because i thing it is the Generation of the Smartphones now...

anytime i think i am getting bored with it, i just remove the express-on covers and get a new different colour and i fall in love with it over and over again ! I keep loving it by the minute !

This is simply the best nokia phone in the market !!!!!!11 everything is simply perfect on it ! The video, the design, the Mp3 function.... the memory card slot... it is simply the bomb ! I recommned this phone to anyone. I have read some few complaints about the 6230 crashing, well, i have had mine since July 2004 and it has not given me any of such problem. I recelntly got a LG8120 cos i wanted to have a feel of the new ''3G thing''... i am regretting this already ! I still love my nokia 6230 anytime, anyday ! Although, i have had it since last year, i am still the envy of all my friends. I am able to install loadsss of stuffs and games into it and this kinda amazes them ! Nokia 6230 for life !

Whenever I receive a call through call waiting, my current caller says I disappear for 5 seconds or so - they think they have been cut off...this hasppens with both 6230's I own and with 2 different carriers.
Does anyone know a fix for this problem?

The More I Look At It, The More I love It :) This is perhaps the best release(ignoring 7710 ;) by NOKIA.

hi every1.got some problems.i inserted a mmc of a siemens in the 6230.i transferd some music on the phone memory.now i cant erase it.anmd it takes up much space (5.9mb).any1 plsssssssssssssssssssssssss help,i'm stuck with it

Ok..Ok..
I think you have no other choice then but to backup all the files on the mobile which u want to keep onto a pc..Usin Bluetooth,IR, DKU-2 Cable[whatever u have]& then reload the Firmware at a Nokia Care Centre..
It Takes around 10 min to reload the Firmware & the latest one is 5.35..So you can ask the Nokia Care people to do it on the spot..need not wait..

loreto:i tried.it only copies the file on the mmc.the folder however stays on the phone memory.it cant b deleted.what if i try get a cable and delete it from a pc?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????i dont wanna lose the things on my phone..1 question.are u from mauritius??????????????????????

the file u have transferred might be a read only file..Try to move the file back on to the MMC again..& if u r successful i at this & then have problem deleting it from the MMC, then try formatting the MMC..
But if u cant even move the file from the phone memory, than i guess u have no other option but to Flash the Firmware again..which can be done at a Nokia care centre..ALL The Best!

I bought this phone about a month ago and so far i'm a little unhappy!It's a great phone, it has a lot of features but it has some bugs! The first thing i noticed is that the pictures taken with this phone aren't very colorfull compared to the SE k700i or even k500i! The second thing i noticed is that the media equalizer doesn't work and the last thing and more important is the battery life which is very poor! I'm already thinking of buying a Li-Po! Also it has other smaller bugs like once i transfered via infrared to the PC about 1 hour and then i wanted to watch a video on the phone and it crashed and reopened!Strange...! I searched a lot for a phone that has all the things I wanted and I found it! Anyway the 6230i is out so i saw it, it has a great camera,way better than the 6230,bigger display but a menu that is too animated!!! SE k750 is better than both of them...i don't know the price yet...

i just got a 6230 in exchange for my old motorola T720i which i had had in repair (for the fourth time!) for about a year :-(, meaning it was impossible to repair. i'm really scared about having trouble with this one too but i think it's great for all the features especially the mp3 player as an ipod for instance in much more expensive and the 6230 can successfully replace it :-). i still don't know how to use it properly and the only problem seems to be the low memory included. can i use a normal memory card like the ones for digital cameras to store music&stuff or does it need a smaller special card? and also do i need a usb cable to download music from the computer or can it be done with infrared?

Well i got the answer to my question on here a few days ago from someone else.
So for anyone else who is wondering the same thing, you can use MP3 sounds for ringtones AND text alerts, just some useless info, lol.
I bought the phone last night online so i hope i dont have the same probs as you kirsty, lol.
I was deciding between this or the Samsung E720 but thats a bit too expensive for me at the moment.
