i know that this phone is great.. but i don't think this phone beat S700i yet. S700i still have a better quality screen and CCD sensor. it is better in terms of tech such as EDGE and push to talk.

hey,today when i was playing a video clip,it suddenly freezed and when i tried restarting it ,it just wouldnt start.I took out the battery and inserted it back and then i started.Another thing when playing any video,and u receive an sms,does the video stop.and u have to start it all over again.
Nokia tells me there is a software upgrade version 3.3.Mine is currently 3.25.whats the difference,does anyone know

I've since been to the local Nokia shop regarding the text prob and they said it's because i'm on o2 and it's an o2 thing that they do to their sim cards. I hadnt read your reply at that point and i was not aware of 'flashing' the guy didnt mention it either.
Is it worth me goin back there and askin their opinions on 'flashing' it? Also is anyone else on o2 pay n go having same problem?

best phone i ever find that have all the features and quality you need for in one set...great display...great sound quality...great capability of storage...great phone overall...get this phone you sure love it for its mp3 sound quality than any other phone...great connectivity...

Except the ascending ringtone problem and bad quality of monophonic download its better than Nokia 6680 or Sony Ericsson's any 1.3MP camera mobile...its even faster than 3230 or 6630...great sound quality comparable to Nokia 8800...just for loud ringtone increase any sound by more DB through PC and then transfer it to your 6230i and see how you beat any others ringtones volume...camera picture is not bad...also its FM stereo sound is best among any other ph at this moment...also Except 3G connectivity all others that yet releasing r in this set...on my opinion its the best set ever made upon NOKIA software can really run side by side Symbian set

u got a strange prob there crispian. i didnt face it with mine.
well i upgraded to mine from my old 6230 but i keep them both. one for talkin n one for music! the 6230 was easily d fastest but the i is much faster then the series 60 fones. my mums got a 3230 n its so dam slow..
however the pics on the 6230 are much clearer than the i.
apart from tat great fone. but u know wat i fiddle with it every minute n now im gettin bored of it!!
n hey vodaben u still haven told us how to create a playlist.. please do so..

I kinda agree with nokiamia,i have never used the 6230,and i bought the 6230i,its really amazing,it has almost all the features of a symbian h/s minus the constant freezing/hanging.The display is good.i dont find it slow.Infact if u use the 3230,u will find that its much slower than the 6230i.The only thing thats missing in this phone is the sms distribution list.

Hey Paul,
Even in my set when im talking to someone and i get a msg it gives he normal beep.
But the problem arises when im talking to someone and i get a call and i dont take it,after that if i get a msg and im still on the same call then it wont give the normal beep it will play the sms tone of the general profile.

i like it's style. it's camera is perfect. it's shape is good. sound quality is poor. it's price is affordable. good memory but card is very slow. Nokia is best.

Hey Original Jamaican, thks for your good comments. Well, my opinion is actually, still valid. For those who have used 6230 before, I think, will be quite dissapointed with 6230i due to its slowness. Basically, its human nature to be dissapointed when you think that what you're doing is "upgrading" but in the end, you find your new 'upgraded' phone is actually slower. But the new screen - man, that makes it all worthwhile - assuming you don't mind spending a bit more money for the upgrade. If anybody that has never own a 6230 before and straight away goes for 6230i, then there's nothing to complaint, actually. These are just my personal opinions. But if you ask me, would I go back to 6230 - well, heck NO! the 6230i's screen is just too superb for me to forget. Really, it's a matter of choice, but 6230i is very good indeed. It may be slower - but only to 6230. In comparison to other phones, the 6230i still rocks. (My small heart says - if you can get hold of 6230i - then go for it - but again, your choice, I hope I've helped you for make your decision easier. Good day!

Hey Crispian,
I have encountered incoming messages many a times in between talking to someone but it only gives a beep sound to let you know of the incoming message. I think there is something wrong with your set. This shouln't happen actually. My profile is in General mode.

I tried this out with my friends cell,she is also facing the same problem of the sms tone playing in the ears.Is this a software problem

Hi,
Guys,i have noticed a peculiar prob in my 6230i,generally when u are talking to someone and u receive a sms,it will give a very soft beep,but in my cell when im talking to someone say i get a call and i dont take it and continue talking,and if i get an sms it will play the sms tone of the profile which deafens my ear as im talking on the phone to someone.Try it out,make a call,ask someone to just give u a misd call and then ask someone to send a msg,will it give a soft beep like it has to or does it play the sms tone of the profile.let me know

Tis is the best phone ever. It does anything and everythimg you want it to. Way better than the SE K700i.

General questions for everyone.
Does everyone here who owns a 6230i experience ascending ringtones ?
Ascending ringtones is an unusual move for Nokia. I only expect that from Sony Ericsson.
How much slower is the speed, example, after pressing the menu button, how many more seconds does it takes before seeing 'Messages' appear...in comparison to the original 6230 ?
What do you all think about the camera quality compared to the original 6230 ?
Is the video recording clearer, even though it's QCIF somehow a sample I saw (on the internet) looked the same as the original 6230 which records in subQCIF.
Is the sound quality the same or better ?

NokiaMia I have read your posts before (the one to Christine) and enjoyed reading them. In fact your input educated me on the differences which in some cases I was shocked.
Your input from way back to Christine made me think twice about getting the 'i'. Nevertheless, I easily have the option of getting the 'i' due to a certain source so I'm weighing my options for both phones.
NokiaMia I have not yet had a hands on experience on the 'i'. I haven't even seen it in person. So NokiaMia, my question to you is this, should I replace my faulty 6230 with a brand new one OR upgrade to the 'i' ?
