NokiaMia I have read your posts before (the one to Christine) and enjoyed reading them. In fact your input educated me on the differences which in some cases I was shocked.
Your input from way back to Christine made me think twice about getting the 'i'. Nevertheless, I easily have the option of getting the 'i' due to a certain source so I'm weighing my options for both phones.
NokiaMia I have not yet had a hands on experience on the 'i'. I haven't even seen it in person. So NokiaMia, my question to you is this, should I replace my faulty 6230 with a brand new one OR upgrade to the 'i' ?

    Thanks Blade..

I've since been to the local Nokia shop regarding the text prob and they said it's because i'm on o2 and it's an o2 thing that they do to their sim cards. I hadnt read your reply at that point and i was not aware of 'flashing' the guy didnt mention it either.
Is it worth me goin back there and askin their opinions on 'flashing' it?

    Cheers.

      hey craig

as for ur prob i think its best u take ur mob to a nokia centre n get it flashed to a newer firmware, somethin like v3.3 or 3.4. or if u have delivery reports enabled, try turnin tat off. best thing get it checked.

as for file sendin i don face ne probs. my friends got a se700 n we regulalry transfer songs, pics( highest reso) n nethin else. most of d probs can b solved if nokia surveys all d probs n releases newer firmwares.

as for password protection. yep never forget ur password. n don think we can enable ps for folders.

        Hey NokiaMia,
I just now noticed your post and saw that you tried to send the snap to a SE K700i and it didn't work. Well bro I have no clue cause it worked with my brother's phone which is a SE K700i.

A few days ago my brother bought a SE K700i. I snapped some pictures using my phone and sent them to his phone via bluetooth(I did this with the sole purpose of testing the bluetooth) and it worked perfectly. The snaps were taken in full resolution ie. in 1280x1024.

                Hi..a question on texting...

Every time i send a text, it plays the selected tone and vibrates as if i am receiving the text and says message sent. Can i disable it to be silent when SENDING the text only? and play n vibrate when i receive? I'm on o2 pay n go

Craig - i dont believe theres a way to password-protect a folder. even if you set-up a password for the mem-card, it's still accessible EXCEPT the card is slotted into anything else but your phone. i hope nokia is looking into this.

anyway, word of caution: DO NOT LOSE YOU PASSWORD (like I did). the learning is: i dont set password anymore.

Original Jamaican - i personally upgraded from a 6230 to 6230i. My main motivations were the BRIGHT and BIG screen and the huge internal memory. But the gripe over 6230 is that 6230i is slower (6230 is blazingly FAST!!!) and the bigger screen makes the aesthetic beauty of the phone lesser. Other than these, both phones are just as good. Your choice. (over my part of the world, all cellphones are Open SIM - so, there's no issue of sim-lock etc).

About sending a photo to a SE phone - I have personal experience on that one. In my case, it was a SE K700i. If I snapped a photo in 1.3MP resolution, SE can't receive it. But after I change to 640x480 resolution, then the SE accepts it. I think it's got to do with SE being thrifty with their memory - and could not accept big files. My friend was very frustrated with his SE. Poor guy.

                        Ok thanks blade..

In that case, forgive me for not being too bright with the phone, is there a way to password a folder in the gallery then? as i'd like some privacy with my pics?

                          hey quinn herrera

man theres somethin seriously wrong with ur fone man. i seriously doubt whether one ur fones probably the selection button is pressed too hard n stuck. u can get it checkd.

as for d password protection, the memory card will prompt for d password only when it is inserted in another fone.

Only one problem with the phone, the soft ware, The crazy thing froze up and started going crazy on me. It was going through the contact list by its self and the only way to get it to stop was to pull the battery out. Then it started locking up with the key lock on and the only way to turn it off, was to pull the battery. Then it started going through the photos by its self, it was like it was being hacked into and someone else was looking at all my pics and there was nothing I could do but pull the battery. It is a great phone until all the software goes bad. Now they tell me that they are recalling all of them and that I have to replace it with a different phone that is in no way compariable. So love your 6230i while it last.

I want some advice from a tech savy person. I have a 6230 which was unlocked from the Orange Network so it could be used in another country, Jamaica. Certain features doesn't work, mainly bluetooth, it worked only twice since I got the phone and hasn't worked since. Internet doesn't work even though the settings are correct. Voice commands only has 7 listed instead of the 16. Night Mode takes long to load and after pressing the button to save a pic, it takes about 3 seconds before the saving status is shown. Standard camera mode works very fast, only nightmode moves slow.
My country now has the phone for sale and I was wondering if I should just buy back a 6230 or upgrade to the 6230i mainly because of more built-in memory, longer video-recording time, longer dictaphone (voice memo) 3D games, better screen (even though I still love the original 6230 screen). I won't comment on the 1.3 MP camera because I have heard and seen photos on the internet where there's noise in the pictures even when the pics were taken in good lighting conditions. Nevertheless, because of the upgraded features I was thinking about getting the 6230i but the complaints about ascending ringtones / message tones, noise in photos and not being able to support more than 512MB MMC is a turn off so I'm at a point where I'm really considering my options.
What do you tech savy people think, buy back a brand new 6230 or upgrade to the 'i' ?
