    Christine,

I think all the 6230i have this ringing and message tone. It work like ascending from soft to loud but if you choose a short tone then problem of hearing. I set a longer tone so that is ascending to loud for both ringing and message tone.

I tried and set to loud many times and still the same ascending. I gave up and just get a longer tone to overcome it. Previously, I used 6230 and it doesn't have this problem at all.

Great phone.. and very fast compared to other phones.. great camera and sound quality and loaded with features (eg EDGE, PTT, MP3) and 512mb MMC works as fast as less memory cards.. but there is a problem with ringtone volume and wallpapers as all wallpapers are 128x128.. the phone clearity is amazing.. New games are difficult to find.. but overall one of the best phone nokia has produced..

          Nokia Mia,

Have you encountered this problem with its ringing tones that ring ascending out of a sudden? This problem has been quite annoying for some of the Nokia 6230i users.

mp3 audio output of this phone is stereo. and if you have 512MB mmc, you can store more than 300 of 64kbps real music quality mp3s. you can listen the music in random and continues. so its like, you have mp3 player along with you always in your daily living. some upload game applications wont work in this phone, specially when it is meant for symbian phones. so better check the games before uploading.

battery life is quite a problem if you watch movie using your phone for two hours or capturing video for more than 2 to 3 hours. what i did, i charged my phone while watching. best movie quality too if uploaded from dvd.

n6230i is a perfect phone ever. Memory is superb, up to 512MB mmc capacity. still picture quality is great and wall paper moves using .gif animated files. mp3 and radio sound quality are great too. video is not that good and its not symbian.

I've had my Nokia 6230i for a few days now. In the whole I'm very pleased with it especially the middle nav "select" key, the problem I encountered with the 6230 is when I attempted to press select the key often moved down at the same time as the select resulting in a wrong selection (happened on 4 different phones), the 6230i dosen't have this problem, it's a joy to use. The screen resoloution is fantastic, you only have to compare the "built in" golf games on the 6230 and the 6230i to see how advanced the (i) is. I'm happy with the camera also, nice zoom option, works well when you use the best quality photo option. The only real critisism I have is the ringer volume, it starts off very quiet and eventually gets to a decent volume. Problem being if the phone was in a different room, by the time you'd hear it the call would of rung off. Having read other posts I did ensure the ringtone was saved in the phone memory and not the card and it has improved significantly, but still starts off quieter than I would like. Does anyone know of any other fixes or maybe a way to make the ringer last longer before cutting into voicemail? All help gratefully recieved..

I just brought this model. So far, I'm pretty happy about it. It restart itself for the 4th time when I'm sending my sms. Does anybody experience the same thing?
And also I like to warn you guys out there. DON'T BUY THIS MODEL IN MALAYSIA! IT'S NOT LAUNCH YET! I was conned. The model i'm having is shipped from middle east....I think! The one that I have is not acknowledge by Nokia. Sad!

Christine - if i were you, i'd wait for 6230i. I've been cracking my head - and still can't think of any other phone to recommend (within the same price bracket). I know a couple of places in Penang that have 6230i in stock.

How can a phone so perfect (6230i), it's unbelievable but it's here. To those who still talking about 7610, 7610 is phasing out. Don't even bother about it, to me it's like a brick.

Christine, high quality mp3 playback and expandable memory are strong features that i look for. I do my research before landing 6230/6230i in my hands. I have friends who have 7610, 3230 and Ngage QD - only realized that their phone does not play mp3 in Stereo only AFTER they bought the phone. Pity them. And pity to all of 7610 and 3230 users (who bought the phone with mp3 as main driving factor) who realized this all too late - because, personally, when I ask a phone salesman about mp3 stereo on 7610 or 3230 - they will say yes, it's their judgement because those phones are supplied with stereo headphone. But in actual... is M-O-N-O.

Between 6230 and 6230i - I will definitely choose 6230i. That's the phone I would recommend to anyone. The shortcomings of 6230i in comparison to 6230 is not major. But even with those minor shortcomings, it is still ahead with other mobile phones out there (but of course, i'm not a phone critic - my opinions are based on my exposure to my relatives' and friends' phone). I have a friend that uses NGage QD is is now looking to make a switch from the complicated-as-ever Smartphone to simple-to-use and hassle-free Mobilephone - and is really impressed with my 6230i. SIncerely, my heart goes to you on yr faulty Zitron set - I don't understand it as well - could it be that my luck has been serving well all these while - because I never had any faulty phones (especially with 2 units of the much-talked-about 6230 and one 6230i). All the best.

                                        Nokia Mia,

Which one do you prefer, Nokia 6230 or Nokia 6230i? Can you tell me what are the functions which are offered by Nokia 6230 but are completely disappear in Nokia 6230i? I am still waiting for my replacement. It has taken me for more than a week.
