Satto,
I too having experiencing the same problem on the ringing and message tones not once but twice. (Sold my first set, thought it was some phone problem. Bought a new set and the problem repeat and now live with it)
What I do, set the ringing and message tones to longer tones instead of short ones otherwise it can hear. Beside this, another problem- although it's a 1.3 megapixel cam but sometime some pictures not very sharp and clear (can see the different when you upload to PC) and also night mode very white base background. Last time, I used my 6230 (though only VGA) but does not have this problem at all.
Hope Nokia can improves all the problem as I'm quite dissappointed and looking to change to Sonyericsson Z800i of the problems cannot be improved later.

Anyone fr Singapore had bought/tried? (any feedback, softw version?, etc.) A bit put off by the current price of S$538 (cw StarHub 2yr line) and that there's not much advert. Seems like it's not tat 'popular', more so with the various bugs, short batt life, slow performance, etc that has been reported here and there. And there's also the impending SonyEricsson K750i that is putting off, not just me but many's decision.

So far, I've done so many experiments on my 6230i. The only problem when the phone hangs is when playing video from the bundled-Nokia MMC card. After I copied the same video file to my Apacer 512Mb MMC card, no problem. So, my conclusion is, the std MMC card that comes with the phone does not have quick reading speed. So, it's nothing to do with the phone, just the MMC card.
My phone (ver. 3.25) is great. No problem at all! No bug at all. 6230 is still one the greatest, but once anybody has seen 6230i's display... there's no looking back anymore!
Bought mine few weeks ago at RM1490. Trade-in my 6230 at RM700.

Michael Yoon,
Thank you for positive opinions regarding my dream phone, Nokia 6230i. Though, I still have some questions in mind that desperately need an answer to each of them.
1. How much is the original hand set of Nokia 6230i that you had just bought a few days ago?
2. which phones do u prefer to own, Nokia 6230 or Nokia 6230i?
Thank you…

Hi Christine,
For your question, I advise u to go ahead and buy it! I just brought it few days ago and to tell u the truth, it’s a great phone!
The camera is great and the screen is just sharp, the sharpest I have seen so far! Just one thing, the video I taken is sharp but it does came with slight blur, could be the way I took the video, have to be very still and stable???
I brought the set is from Zitron, not any AP set! Original distributor.

i bought the nokia 6230i about a week and a bit ago nad i am over the moon with the phone the quality of camera is brilliant the video is good but can sometimes be a bit blurred if not used right . the only problem i hav is the battery life the battery only last for 2days tops without being charged whereas my nokia 6230 lasted a whole week without being charged. But i would still advise anyone who is thinking about buying the phone 2 BUY it!!

P.S. Please...if you want your opinion to be taken seriously....at least try to spell properly...a few typos are acceptable...but some of the text used here is embarrasing.

The features are good....but this phone is too buggy the moment.
Some design issues (functionality). If the bugs are ironed out it would be quite a nice phone and full of features....not much point if a lot of the features are bugged though.
Big disappointment is the fact that it comes with software but NO DKU2 cable...so the software is useless unless you have bluetooth or infrared ports (like a laptop). What's even more alarming is that the cable is $55AU....just for a USB cable.
Overall, I'd wait if you really want this phone....if you can't look at another brand/model.

Hi, I have firmware v. 03.23 and my phone has a problem- you see , me and a friend of mine bought 2 x 6230i , and we both have the same problem- when ringing (sms tone too) it's ringing like it's set for "ascending" , but it's not, so at the first 3,4 secs. I hardly hear it, then suddenly, it's ringing on the level I have seted (maximum level)
Anyone...?
Thanks

Sniperz. My phone's software version is v 3.25 released March 31, 2005. I got it from one of the hundreds of cell phone stalls at the mezzanine of shoppesville. I guess I was lucky because it just got in an hour before I bought it. The headset works perfectly fine even with the radio on. Try to haggle if ever you plan to get one. I believe you can get it slightly less than the prive when I got mine. Good Luck :-)

Mono mp3s in many phones can be great with the recommened 192kbps or 200kbps over Mp3 quality
tat would be loud and clear.but this is one of the phone tat provides stereo so its gotta be good~! Mono are ways to save battery ,stereo still wastes more battery becoz of the sound quality . Anything tat matters is Mono player are good quality too Stereo has its good ^^ So its ur handphone to choose but most nokia use is Mono but its good in quality so its never a miss

Just wanted to share some feedback regarding this phone which replaced my 6600. I got mine here in the Philippines three weeks ago for about US$ 340. It also came with a one year warranty from nokia care. I've read about bugs and stuff about this phone but so far mine's been working perfectly fine after having tried most of the functions. It responds much faster compared to my 6600. Screen resolution, albeit small, is very good. Photo quality is excellent once downloaded and printed at Kodak. Sound quality is excellent even too loud when set to maximum. Although I miss a few of the functions the 6600 has, I'm very much satisfied with this phone and serves my needs well. If allowable, try out the unit first to see if everything works before purchasing. It was fortunate for me the sales person allowed me to try it out first before I decided to buy.

Hi, is there a stand alone software you can use to play mp3's on the 6230i. A java application maybe?. The sound quality on the phone is amazing. Had a 3230 and returned it the next day.
