The simplest I can say is CLASSIC! 6230 was a superb asset, this one is much much better. 15000(now)with bill for such a large no. of easy to use features.. Its grab guys.. Just forget K700 or Z800, Sony ericssson has got that software delay in loading every single thing. 6230i is far far better. Such a small package with such a lot of features, can you imagine at 13500 (grey market)...Aila... Never miss this stuff man.. If you miss it, YOU ARE MISSING IT.. thats it.

Got it 2 days ago Fantastic! THEN:
    1. Everytime I take it out of the Nokia MBC-15S car holder, it asks me if I want to use phone as mass storage device? accept or reject it does not matter - turn it off and on again to get rid of that message.
    2. If I adjust volume in car kit (Nokia CK-7W with MBC-15S)then remove & take indoors, phone rings very, very quite till you turn off & on again
software version 3.30 dated 21-04-05.sussed the ringtone default prob tho - move from MMC to phone memory cures that like 6230 did

      Hi everyone,

I was wondering when does a phone like this show up in the USA? I was going to get the 6230 to replace my v551. But when I saw this was out , I figured I'd bide my time and wait for it. Does anyone know when It could show up over here? I'd hate to get the 6230 then have this one pop up.

      Thank you!

        kds,
The battery life, for my usage, is less than 2 days on average. My daily usage is (since it's a new phone for me, i practically play around with it every second i could - hence that bright display is always on) mp3 playing for about 15-25 songs a day, 10-20 mins of talking, 10-15 mins of SMS & MMS, ~3-5 pictures, 2-3 times PC-synchronizing via Bluetooth and many minutes of exploring the menu. In summary, yes, the battery is not as long lasting like some other phone like 4-5 days, but I'm OK with it as I charge my phone every night.

        Christine,
6230i is a mobile phone, not a Smart-phone. The only software that can be downloaded into it are Java programs. Better check with your preferences b4 buying - coz it sounds to me that you need an all-in-one tool... like a smart-phone :-)

Good in the looks and features department. Uneven distribution of lights in the keypad and is priced at a bit higher. But, Compared with other phones in this category, Nokia 6230i is simply the best.

I own one of these. It is a fantastic phone! Its got everything I need. however, the only bad thing is the battery life. It lasts for about 20hrs, when using the features non-stop. It charges up fully in around 1hr 50 mins. Its even the first phone in the U.K. to have a push-to-talk feature. I highly recommend this phone.

A very interesting review. I am still the proud owner of a 6230, I think its nearly flawless. I use it to take sequential photos more than I use it as a phone, it has taken more than 23,000 photos and the picture is still good. I am looking for a replacement soon, what I'd be interested in is a faster camera where I don't need to press 2 buttons. Does anybody know if I can get a java application that will work the camera, so take pictures automatically in other words?

                          Christine,
I bought mine at RM1490 for Zitron set. Reason: Free software upgrade for 1 year at any Nokia Service Center. And it only takes 20-30mins for Nokia to do it. My old 6230 was AP set, each software upgrade costs RM30 if done at Nokia Center. If done at the seller place, it takes 2days to 1 week. So, Zitron set is the best bet - i learnt it thru the hard way.

                          Mayday147,
My phone is stable as a big rock. If your phone hangs during multimedia playback from the MMC card, then try changing the card to another brand. Make sure it's a reputable brand, not a cheap one. See if it still hangs. What i know is, the Nokia 64Mb bundled card is not good. Video files make the phone hangs. My Apacer 512Mb MMC gives me no problem at all. Even with mega huge video file of 100Mb.

                          Disappointed User,
Agree with you that once the picture (taken with 1.3Mp camera) is uploaded in the PC, the image is not so clear. Even though is look FLAWLESS thru the phone display. I hope Nokia fixes this in the next firmware update.

But, in truth, I use a 5Mp Digital Camera to capture pictures. THe phone camera is just for MMS, in terms of MMS, the matter how big your Megapixel is, you still need to limit the picture size to max 300Kb to be able to send it out. So, frankly, I don't care much about the 1.3Mp camera. But Nokia shouldn't ignore this complaint as this IS an EXPENSIVE phone.

                          pOlyVivian85,
The display of 6230i, you HAVE to see to believe - it's one of the BEST of the lot. I had the chance to compare with SE K700i, the Nokia wins hands-down. It's the main reason why I dumped by 6230 for 6230i.

Does anybody know if there is a recognised fault with the 6230i (in relation to compatibility with craddled carkits) and if there is any software updates that might remedy this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm pretty pleased with my 6230i, but the battery does seem to run out pretty fast.

                                NokiaMia,
I am Christine. I would like to know the price of RM 1490 you had paid for your Nokia 6230i is a zitron distributed original set or just an approved product(AP)? If your set is from zitron distributed original set, what makes you go for original set than ap set?

Though I am a strong supporter of Nokia Phone as I only buy Nokia phones no others. Just upgraded from my 3230 to this 6230i, I think Nokia need to come up with a better and a more stable software for this 6230i. My phone sometime hanged and need to take out the battery and on off the phone. Camera quality is not as good as it claimed 1.3mega.

Though all the new functions is much better tthan 6230 but 6230 are more stable, hopefully Nokia understand this problem and rresolve it a.s.a.p if not, 6230i will be problematic and balue will drop.

What i like most is it size and packed with all the necessary features that we couldn't asked for more. Nokia 6230i is still my best coice.

I experience locking problems with my v. 3.23 one.It just hangs and the only solution is to switch off/on. Does anyone had this problem too?

                                        Satto,

I too having experiencing the same problem on the ringing and message tones not once but twice. (Sold my first set, thought it was some phone problem. Bought a new set and the problem repeat and now live with it)

What I do, set the ringing and message tones to longer tones instead of short ones otherwise it can hear. Beside this, another problem- although it's a 1.3 megapixel cam but sometime some pictures not very sharp and clear (can see the different when you upload to PC) and also night mode very white base background. Last time, I used my 6230 (though only VGA) but does not have this problem at all.

Hope Nokia can improves all the problem as I'm quite dissappointed and looking to change to Sonyericsson Z800i of the problems cannot be improved later.
