I have version 04.52 but I really can't see any reason to upgrade...knock on wood.
I've had the phone for about 3 months and I have a full 256mb card in it.I regret I didn't buy a 1gb one in the first place...
My only complaint is that the video-camera could be better in low-light conditions, but there really isn't any problem. It just shows vertical lines going back and forth along the screen. The pics in good light conditions are just fine !
A question now:
Do they actually charge you for the upgrade ?
What's new with the latest (5.10 ?) firmware ?

Hi all..
im wondering why some people are having problems with the files and memory of the phone.
I've been sending, receiving (thru bluetooth), and using/playing large files. most specially video and music files.. but i don't encounter any problem. If the files that i receive are larger than the internal memory, it is automatically saved in the external memory (micro sd). I've been also watching dvd movies using my phone. the only problem i encounter here is the battery life.

you need a usb cable charger.. if your from the philippines... you can buy an all-in-one usb charger from CDRking.. for only P100.00 (less than $3)

As far as i know there's no 6233i.. and if they make one.. i hope it will come with a front camera.
the 6233 was launched during the last quarter of 2005.

I was using v3.++ (can remember the version) and i was able to turn the camera sounds off.
go to camera>options>settings>camera sounds> off

The latest firmware here in the Philippines is 4.91. other countries have higher/newer firmware versions.
if ever a higher version would be available.. i guess only nokia repair centers have it. coz its not yet available online via the nokia software updater (NSU)

the current version is 5.10, thats what i have. yes, you can turn off the camera shutter sound. other than that i use it on a daily basis with the Nokia headset BH-900 and its great, much better than with 6230.

Hi.. I got this phone few days back.. Its a great phone for the price but I had one problem..
Pics taken under normal light condition have red green blue pixels at specific spots.. They were at the same place in every picture..
I got the set replaced & the new set is showing the same problem...
The RGB pixels are there in every pic and are easily visible in moderate light conditions.. And Clearly visible in dark conditions..
Are other 6233 users facing such a problem?

Hi, just got my 6233 op. software upgraded from v3.70 to v4.91. I am facing a problem. While creating an sms, when you click on "Add" to add the recepients no. & then click "Open Log", ..the phone hangs & restarts on its own. Does this happen with everyone, or the problem is just with my phone.
Further, I emailed the nokia care guys, they told me that i would have to upgrade the software to v5.10. ..is that version out??

this phone is magnificent, it has all the features u want on your mobile phone, it looks extremely beautuful with the stainless stell finish and the speakers are truly amazing, i wold recommend this phone to everyone

yh videos can play with any file size it can recieve files via blutooth bigger then 6MB and play them

Itz said that it cant download a file more than 4mb,then how can it play videos,memory can be too large for video songs...its more than 14mb....I want to buy this phone...can anyone tell me,Does the video works in it and can i download songs of more than 4mb

no there is no 6233i instead there is 6234(vodafone version of 6233) so there is no 6233i

The file is too big to be saved in your memory card.

a.try adjusting the setting for your pics and vidz to produce smaller files.
b. Buy a bigger (higher capacity memory)

yes.. if you open it thru the web browser.
or there's a program that lets you change the word file (.doc) into a jar file. then upload the jar file in your phone.. now you can read it.

My friend used to have a dual sim on his ngage.. the person who performed the "operation" on his sim said that you can do it on any phone.
You could try it... but i don't recommend doing it..
you see.. nowadays.. its normal to have 2 phone (here in the Philippines). Others have 3. one for each network (we have 3 big mobile phone networks here in the philippines).

i was lisning to music on my 6233 today for 1 hour and all of a sudden it Hanged on me and made me mad grrr i have the latest firmware so whats wrong with it???
