TO P.J.
Thank you for your answers.
Could you please tell me what firmware version is on your model? (*#0000#)
I want to go to that GSM store again to find out if they got a different firmware on their 6270. Because if that's the case, then I will find a large T-Mobile dealer who has access to GSM wholesaler, to get the latest version.
Thank you for your time!

Which is the better phone. Nokia 6270 or Samsung d600. Have heard negatives about 6270 having bad battery, horrible construction (slider), difficult to transfer files, and small internal memory. Also is it possible to transfer music to it and use them as ringtones?
Thanks

@ Jay:
My 6270's battery lasts around 4 days with average use per day (30-45min calls, 10-15 sms, 5-10 camera pics, etc).
When I bought it, it would last less (2 days), but I believe it's very important to let the battery 'empty' and only than re-charge it, specially in the beggining.

@Mike:
6270 wasnt released 12 months ago. I'd say about 4 months maximum.
Maybe the phone you tested had problems cos mine is preety loud, even when I have mp3s as ringtones (they sound excelent).
I had to turn off the ascending-tone mode cos if I didnt accept the call fast, the ringtone would be 'extremely' loud.
So, as you can see, I dont think there's a problem with it beeing too low, at least not with mine.

Firmware has alot to do with the phone and sound. Think of it this way; You fit a sound card into your computer with standard drivers a few months later new drivers are released. New drivers are released with better performance, this is basically how firmware works, updateed version of firmware are like updating the drivers in your phone therefore increasing the easy of use and quality of use with the phone enhancing things in the process eg Sound.

TO PJ:
I'm swear I'm not the Nokia Hater.
I always has admired the Nokia as being the only Normal phone manufacture in the U.S.
BACK TO 6270:
I have no idea why the 6270 that I tested in large GSM store in NEW YORK five days ago, has only 15 crappy ringers and even the standard polyphonic Nokia Tone, sounds even more quieter than the same tone on my 6170 model.
I just don't understand what firmware version has to do with sound quality?
And on top of that, the guys here claim that the old firmware was only for about 3 months. Well, it's been almost 12 months since the phone released.
ANY ANSWERS???

@ raj batra:
I believe most of the extreme negative reviews are from Nokia haters, so they should be ignored.
From what I read, there were some problems when 6270 was released (few months ago), but they were limited and the new ones are bogus-free.
I bought mine 3 months ago and didnt have a problem at all with it.
Things I first noticed when I bought it:
Pros:
- Screan (reeeeeeeeeeally great)
- Sound quality (loud, clear, 3D stereo, amazing)
- New interface, very user-friendly
- 2 Mega camera
-Metal touch of the phone's body (feels good)
Cons:
- Size (a bit big, but I got used to it)
Hope this helps you with your choice :)

i just went through all the statements that everybody has given, one thing i don't understand is that1 person is very happy and the other is crying about it. is nokia making phones on custom basis, if the phone is good then it has to be good for everybody, or the technology changes when it comes to my hand and then goes to other, plz make your mind up and then write about it because it is very difficult for the other person to decide

which is better
1. nokia 6270
2. samsung d820
3. samsung x700
all three have good display, double stereo speakers, almost equal camera, non symbian, not 3g, good built quality, average kepads,
BUT DIFFERENT PRICE .
SAMSUNG X700 IS THE CHEAPEST, SO WHY NOT GO FOR IT? ANY REASON

This is a better than the D600, the 3d sound on the D600 is much more refined and quite muffled, wereas the 6270 is extreamly clear and extreamly loud and even at its louadest is still sounds good.
The screan size IS bigger than D600, the reason this S40 series is able to cope with the large screan is becasue it is S40 Version 3, which was improved to produce extreamly high screen quality and resolution.
