i sold my first (and last) nokia cos i was sick and tired of all the dust filling up behind the screen - im surprised to see their new hi end phones have the same problem.. the other thing i always hated about nokia is the slow response to keypress may i ask if this has been fixed on the new phones?

Nice work gwapz - I'm struggling to see how Nokia shipping dodgy, sub-standard, incomplete product is the fault of the consumer!

My main beef is the lack of FF/Rew controls on what is otherwise a great video player. Since they appear to have been delivering product without these controls for a couple of years (as I've discovered after going Nokia for the first time) and they have no intention of including these controls in the future, I'd have to disagree with your assertion. In fact their curious decision suggests completely the opposite - that they couldn't give a toss what their consumers want!

someone seems to be in a bit of a rant, but i do have to agree. i however ordered this phone today so i expect i'll be on my third handset before the month is out i'll report back on tuesday week when i should have had the phone a week.

Well there you have it, after one week of use my 6280 has died...I don't know what caused it as I treated it like it was worth a million dollors !!
The only thing I did was load a few games on to the memory card....and bang, now the screen just fizzles and reboots

When I turn the phone on it starts up normally and gets the main screen and dies straight away, does this about three or four times and then shuts off completely. I can't use it all now......

                  Well back to three tomorrow...."SIGH"

ok, had an incident with the phone last night.

First, the phone was half-empty so i went to recharge it. Then i opened up Videos and watched a movie that i encoded into the memory card. I then inserted the hands free set so i can watch and hear it in silence.

As soon as i plugged it in, the phone shutsdown. i thought, orite then, time to turn it back on. But it wouldnt. I tried to take out the battery and put it back in. Still, nothin powers on. So i thought, maybe, for some strange reason, the battery drained itself to zero. so i charged it overnight thinking to myself, i think i better take it in for warranty

the next morning, turned it on, still wouldnt turn on. at this point i was a bit frustrated. so i tried disassembling everything, memory card, battery.

then i reinserted the sim card, thinking for some reason, it might work... and it did

the phone worked, but the battery was still half-empty. so the phone was actually dead course i recharged it, but it wouldnt accept the currents.

any smartypants out there care to find out why that happened??

                    thanks for reading =)

Mate, you need to read the posts properly - we're talking about the media player, ie playing movies. I've just received this response from the Nokia Careline...

In response to your enquiry, please be advised that there is no 'forward' or
'rewind' function for viewing video clips. Kindly note that there are no plans
for a software upgrade to enable these features.

Can't make it much clearer than that.

there are forward and rewind. you don't see the buttons on the music players? READ THE MANUAL PEOPLE ITS REALLY HELPFUL( use the navigation key LEFT = rewind RIGHT = FORWARD just press it and hold it. thats its.
those complaining about the dust on the screen,
just remove the cover and clean it, depending on the use all kind of phones will get dust under the screen, that happens when you try to mess the phone alot, or get it in dirty places. just clean it and that its!. cool phone i got 6270 which its pretty much the same its rocks

that happens with ALL THE phones, you have to turn the BT to use the headset!! no other way it drains the battery, EVERYPHONE have that problem. because the phone ahve to (find) the headset first to know to which headset connect to, sorry man, ALL the brands BT works the same way because they use the same profiles.

OK this is annoying the heck out of me and no one (AND I MEAN NO ONE)can give a proper answer...

                                    Here it goes:

RE: using a bluetooth headset and a mobile phone...

Once the two are paired and the device is saved in your phone, to use the BT headset in the future, do u need to turn the phone's BT power ON every time u plan on using the headset OR, would the turning ON of the BT headset (e.g. by opening the boom gate), even when the mobile's BT power is off, automatically activate a connection (assuming connect w/out permission function is activated on phone).

Put simply, DO I NEED TO TURN THE PHONE'S BT POWER ON EVERY TIME I WANT TO USE THE HEADSET (as this drains the battery big time b/c the phone's BT is on all day so that if i recieve a call i can just open the headset and becoiem connected to the device)??? Does it depend on the phone? headset? compatibility???

PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME A DECISIVE ANSWER...I WOULD DEARLY APPRECIATE IT

Overall this is an excellent phone !
However i do have a couple of problems with it!
Firstly the battery life is about the worst I have ever experienced. Secondly is there any way of recording your own voice tags ? The enhanced voice tags are CRAP ! Also I am unable to use the redial function on my Jabra headset with this phone.
