The nokia 6290 is my dream phone! the only thing that would make it perfect is a little bigger battery and wifi!
It seems that this phone will be more than 500 dollars when it comes to argentina. Tipically every phone in argentina costs 2x what it costs in usa or europe.
And with our change (1 dollar = 3 pesos) it will be imposible to buy.
Why the hell i'm so poor?

how is the speed of this mobile? how much time do u need to open a folder or an application? some users noticed a high pitched sound when u put the side speakers near your ear while the phone is flip opened, is it the same on your device?

the phone Features is verry good but the desing is ....a little bit ugly

excellent features. its with OS, so i m sure its functionality must be very flexible. even has stereo speakers. hope it stores unlimited sms msgs like other OS phones. anyone aware about that?

Does this model support wma format? I like it a lot, but I need a functional music player, so this is very important.

Here in Asia no date of release, no picture, nothing ! What the ???? ! But lots of advertisemnent for the N76. Too bad as I prefer the 6290 over the N76.
I guess I will buy the Samsung U600 instead.

nokia have stepped forward in features but taken a BIG step back in design with this one ... shame really it could of been good

how is the camera's quality??? is it good? how are the speakers? are they as clear as Sony Ericsson's speakers? how is the keypad? is it comfortable?

I dont know about speaking when making a call, it's been confiscated now too by the person who bought it for my birthday so i can't check!
The speaker I checked for the high pitch sound was the one on the side, not the actual speaker u put to your ear when on a call. To me the sound is really no different to any other electrical item, I don't know whoever said it has REALLY sensitive ears or something, here was me thinking my ears were sensitive! I just put my ear to my printer, my tv on mute and my laptop and they all make the exact same sound that the phone made. Put your ear to something electrical and you'll probably know what i mean.

just found it on sale at Fone Planet for £250 sim free i'm gonna wait till later in the year when it should be available for around £150

Ok I couldn't resist, just turned the phone on for a few mins to have a look at it.
About the screeching sound, if I put my phone up to my ear I can hear it BUT to me it's just like the sound any other electrical device makes, I can hear it louder on my laptop now as I type this and I put my phone I have at the minute (SE W550) to my ear and I can hear it too.
ALSO, the noise only happens when the phone flip is open, when I close the flip and put the speaker to my ear I don't hear it (similar to my SE W550, I can only hear the noise when the keypad is active etc).
The screens (internal and external) are very impressive. Anyway as I say these are only first impressions, I literally only had the phone on without a sim card in it for a few minutes.

Just got this delivered today. Haven't turned it on as someone bought me it as a bday present and my bday isn't until 3 weeks so i'll have to wait until then to use.
First impression was that it was a lot bulkier than I thought it would be so I'm a bit disappointed in that.
I'll post back again when i've actually used the phone on my birthday.

somebody mentioned a high pitch sound he noticed while the 6290 is turned on? did anybody have this same problem with 6290 or it´s that that other person had a defective unit?
