Appreciate if could tell me how to stop the rapid flas... morePREM, that flashing screen normally appears when you have the phone in silent mode.
It's actually a good feature because if you are in the same room with the phone, you get to know there's an incoming call even though there's no sound coming from the speaker.
Does it happen to your phone when it's NOT in silent mode ?

PEOPLE if you are a BIG FAN of voice dialling and voice commands then DON'T upgrade to 6.01 because there's a bug in it which makes the phone reboot when you try to intiate these voice features.
It doesn't matter to me much because I don't use them.
Stick to 5.00 or 5.50 until a fix is out for this bug if you love these voice features.

Pros:
- Nice solid design
- Easily fits in your pocket and you don't have to worry about braking it or scratching it.
Cons:
- Short battery life
- Cheap headset with low sound quality
- Headset often not recognised by phone
- Messy folder structure (difficult to find the files you need)
- Music player shows minimal info, can't easily browse music
- Music player stays on in background, no button to really switch it off only pause.
- Camera totally useless very low image quality even in broad daylight
- Camera very slow in taking pictures
This phone does not stand beer. Mine drowned in it and in contrast to previous Nokia phones dis one does not recover. Actually I don't really care because I was very disappointed with this phone. Also it's the kind of phone half the world will have because it's so cheap at the moment. I'd go for another model with more features or just stick with the older Nokias because they perform better than this 6500.

I have always been a fan of Nokia - especially the 6 series. My first one was 6230 then 6230i and now 6300. I find this type of phones as the perfect combination of business capabilities, style and a no-nonsense approach. I have another HTC PDA phone with "I am a computer" attitude. But the fact is I love using this simple yet feature packed 6300 rather than the other one. HTC is quite good. But no PDA or smart phone can ever replace the beauty of a laptop. Not even the most expensive camera phone can ever replace an entry level Canon or Olympus photo quality. So I prefer to own two separate good things rather than one bulky thing with a stylus, fooling myself into believing that this is a computer-camera-phone. For those small "no laptop, no camera" situations, the 6300 does these well within its limits.
6300 has all the good things that I loved in 6230i. Life is already complicated and I dont want my gadgets to be part of my problems. Nokia's genius is its simplicity. 6300 is no exception - But simple doesnt mean empty. It's got everything that u want. (well... what I want). A good display, enuf battery for a day or two, 1000 phone memmory, an okay kind of camera, mem card, etc.
More stylish, a very good display (even better than higher priced models like N70 and Samsungs- which usually has the best displays), nice sound, the usual Nokia ease of use, ability to select and delete contacts, etc make it a simple safe buy.
On the minus, well some people complain that the aluminium back is prone to scratches. It is- just be a little careful. Well call records is only 20 for missed, called and recd. Should be atleast 30 each. As with other Nokias, voice recording during a phone call produces a beep sound that can be heard by the other party. This is good and bad. Good that you wont be taken for a ride, by someone whom you shout at. Bad that we cant record that loussy credit card or some other offer or something else without the other party knowing about it. Another bad point is that the phone is quite low priced now. What happens to any good thing that is priced low? Every tom dick and shaly will be owning it!
Yet, its a very good buy - like an iphone at one fifth its price.
All in all a wonderful phone.

Just wanted to tell you I REAL love my 6300 except for just one shortcoming - BATTERY LIFE. I Wish I could get a long lasting battery for dis 4ne. Otherwise I am forced to always move with a spare battery. ANY SOLUTION GUYS?

It's unfortunate that you aren't able to easily upgrade.
I tried your product code on Nokia's Software update webpage and I got this error: Sorry, there is no software currently available for that product code via the Nokia Software Update tool.
You can reach that part of the site by going to: http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=EDITORIAL_528996#. I gave you this address so you can quickly check for updates in the future without connecting your phone to a PC.
There's a solution to your problem but it may void your warranty if you aren't careful.
There's a software called Nemesis Service Suite. It's a easy download via Yahoo or Google search. You can use this software to change your product code and get 6.01. I used this exact product code to get 6.01 because my original code showed 5.50 as the latest.
After updating your phone with the new product code REMEMBER to change it back to your original product code. You will find the original product code on the label below the battery.
If you don't assign back the original code to your phone, in the future, if you should ever need to take your phone to a Nokia Care Centre, even though your phone may be under warranty they will give it back to you right away and tell you that you altered internal settings. That's why I told you that this modification can void your warranty.
The product code to get 6.01 is: 0537626

to those who changed their battery to bl5c: how long can your phone last compared to with the orig battery?
what's the latest firmware? 6.1 or 6.01?
6300's rear casing (metal) looks good but very slippery. does anyone changed their casing or made something that solved this problem?
sorry for my numerous questions. hope to hear from anyone who can answer these. thanks and have a steady day.

yeah, update your software version to 6.1
it would reduce the consumption of your battery and your battery would last for 2 days ( if yew use it roughly )

The phone 6300 i did have heating issues. The new work phone 6301 made in hungary is for some reason much better with the 5th edition software and no heat issue. @ original_jamaican i had same issue with the second 6300 i was given sadly. Maybe i was unlucky. However most phones give off some heat its normal. But mind excessively got hot.

well i have tried it for 3 months and it the same as other phone but the black version is allot cool and modern and it's just gr8 but the problem is it gets very hot and fast ,why pleas answer me and dose that effects the humans or parts of the body like brine ???????
