      To RONY:

Once I sent a text all day long even though I don't think I sent as many as a hundred, made quite a few calls during that day as well and at the end of the day the battery showed 3/4 power left. The next day I made calls occasionally throughout the day and the same for the day after.

That charge lasted me for 3 1/4 days because early in the morning on the fourth day the battery was at the point of dying.

        To RONY:

You have said enough. Forget the MP3s and calls. The 100 text messages you send per day is enough to drain any battery from any phone from any manufacturer.

From the days of 3310 it was discovered that text messaging consumes a lot of battery power...more power than making and receiving calls. I figured it out somewhat during that time and a friend reassured me from their own experience.

I don't know if it's because the backlight stays on during texting or the process of sending it through the SMS gateway but that's a strange thing I have discovered from the days or black & white phones. Text messaging is a battery killer.

Many times when the battery is very low (especially on Nokia phones) you are able to make a short call and hang up before the battery goes dead but it's EXTREMELY HARD to get off a text, no matter how short the text is, on a very low battery. Trying that normally kills the battery before you finish composing the text or as soon as you hit send.

As I told you all, on Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m. I partially charged my 6300 due to me rushing out for work. Well today, Thursday, it shows 1/2 life (sounds like the video game I know) left. Not bad for a partially charged battery running 2 days now.

Bear in my mind I have made and received short calls from Tuesday until today occasionally right throughout the day.

How can I complain about battery life ?

I used 6300 in the begining of the year 2007 for some time and found its performance very satisfactory except the battery life. now i am using 6555 which i need some time to evaluate its performance close to the bone.

My battery would never last more than 1 and a half days. I usually send a hundred text messages a day, listen to a couple of mp3s thru the loudspeaker, rarely makes a call, and keep my phone switched on overnight even when i'm asleep. With all these plus the usually weak network signal i would have to recharge my battery everyday and so sometimes i feel like i want to replace my 6300 with a 6233 (which, i think, uses a more powerful battery and has better battery management).

i am still hunting for a BL-4CU 1000mAH battery, though, which should give me more operating time. i'm just not sure if it would be compatible with the 6300. i'm sure it will fit but i'm not sure if it will recharge on the 6300 (i found out that the BL-5CA battery fits on the Nokia 2626 and would even power the phone up but it wouldn't recharge on the phone). Sometimes i wonder why Nokia makes too many versions of batteries which are of the same size anyway but have different capacities and compatibility (e.g. BL-4C, BL4-CT, BL-4CU and BL-5C, BR-5C, BL-5CA).

I think some people make too much of a big deal about the mAh capacity rating.

If you check out some Nokia phones, you will see that some higher capacity batteries gives less standby and talk time than the 6300.

In addition to that, you will also see that some higher capacity batteries give the same standby and talk time as the 6300.

An example of a higher capacity giving less power is the Nokia 7610. The rating is as follows:

                        Standard, Li-Ion 900 mAh (BL-5C)
                        Stand-by Up to 250 h
Talk time Up to 3 h

It's all about the power consumption and mechanics of the phone itself.

                          To ANGE UK:

The battery in my phone is the same as everybody else, Li-Ion 860 mAh (BL-4C).

I need to rephrase something. I shouldn't just say I write "opinion" about my battery life...I write FACTS about my battery life.

                                      My battery life is excellent.

Yesterday morning my battery was on 1/4. I plugged it in but didn't allow it to charge completely, meaning it did not show 'battery full' because I had to rush out for work. When I plugged it out it showed a full battery which is typical for phones...at least Nokia phones.

In the morning, afternoon, evening and last night I made and received a few short calls. This morning, more than 24 hours later, the battery still shows a full bar. I write my opinion about my battery life so to each his own.
