I found a battery on ebay, which has 1700mAH, original Nokia battery is 720mAH. They say u can use it also on nokia 6300.

What do you think guys, shoud I buy this battery, because Nokia says it is dangerous to use any other battery than Nokias. Is this true, or is this only protection of their own market.

On the other hand, it would boost the phones performance and I would be able to use the features like internet, mp3 more frequently.

So what do you think on this one?

Thanks for answering and any suggestions.

to ORIGINAL JAMAICAN: ive find something out with this amazing phone and it only works with v5.00 firmware, when listening to music through the loudspeaker and using the editable preset with the frequency bars set to full if u hold the volume key in when it reaches 10 n keep holding it in the sound increases, u know it works coz the vibration in the phone from the loud sound, and it sounds GOOD!!

The 6300 is more POWERFUL than many people realise.

For those who don't know, the 6300 is the best selling phone for this year...so far...and I expect it to continue being best seller for the remainder of the year.

A particular feature I like with the 6300 is it's ability to playback High Definition video. It may be a small figure on the specs. sheet but it goes a long way when you actually get into it.

This high definition codec is NOT found in many phones which is why Nokia stands out.

I have 2 High Definition movies on my phone and numerous music video.

H.264 (aka MPEG-4 AVC) is the codec I'm talking about.

              To WAZOMBA:

Seems as if flashing/unlocking have a tendency to cause rebooting. My 6230 was unlocked from a network and sometimes when I play certain MP3s or play certain video files it reboots. It only rebooted during a call once because I had set the ring to a MP3 which alwasys rebooted the phone whenever I played that particular MP3 in the music player or media player. I decided to set that MP3 as a ring to see if the phone would ring normally or it would cause the phone reboot when I received a call. When it made me lose a particular incoming call, I instantly deleted that MP3. Funny enough I downloaded it from another site and up to now it hasn't caused my 6230 to reboot any at all...and I'm talking about many months of playback. Some things are just a mystery.

I never liked Sony Ericsson, they are way too fragile.

I have used enough to know I should avoid them. Build quality is poor, think joystick problems, phone falling to the ground and the screen breaking and more commonly, permanent blackness in the screen. I have seen all of this for myself.

Everybody knows that Nokia is the most unique mobile, I have dropped my Nokias and nothing ever went wrong. We all know the story of Nokia falling into water and working like new once it dries. A friend of mine accidentally left his phone in his pants pocket and washed his pants, hung it up and later on when he couldn't find his phone in his house he checked his pants. He then put the phone to dry and told me the phone worked like new after it dried.

Nokia is #1 for a reason. Excellent Reception, Durability and physical strength.

P.S. Once somebody said Sony Ericsson needs to borrow some of Nokia antennas...I agree with that person.

Nokia is not a god (only the Almighty should be spelt with a capital "G") but their market sales is by far the most dominant. Believe it or not Nokia sales are higher this year than last year...now tell me, could mediocrity boost their sales for 2007 ? Think about that one my friend.

Now, you do make a good point, the Nokia phones of yesterday had longer battery life. However, the technologies have changed and these technologies are power hungry. Not to mention that most of the older phones were monochrome (black & white). It would be silly to compare a monochrome phone with these newer colour phones even though some colour phones have a surprisingly long battery life.

My previous phone which I still have and still love, the Nokia 6230, had a very good battery life and in terms of technology that phone is still on par to an extent with many newer phones. The 6230 battery would last a very long time. It could last up to a full business week (or maybe more) if I didn't use the multimedia features. The 6230 has a 65k screen. Now, the higher the colour, the more power the phone demands.

Most new Sony Ericsson phones have a 256k screen and as you say battery life is good. The Nokia 6300 has a 16.7 million colour screen so it's more demanding than any Sony Ericsson phone. My friend, before you criticise, you should first get a Sony Ericsson 16.7M colour screen (whenever they finally produce one) and then compare it with a Nokia with a 16.7M colour screen. The results may surprise you. As it is right now, DO NOT compare a lower colour screen power consumption to a higher colour screen power demand.

does anyone know if the 4GB microsd memory card is compatiable with this phone? also i have hardly any complaints with my hungarian model, the only slight problem i have is that sometimes when i make a call or connect to the internet it reboots itself which is a bit annoying other wise its excellent!!

hmmz, i got it off the charger this morning at 6 o clock and now at 16;00 the bar is still full, so at this tempo i could have 3 days or maybe more who knows, which will do for me, also want to add i made quite some phonecalls today, so maybe it has to do with the fact that the battery has to be charged maybe 3 times before it actually is getting power out of it.

I dont want to put u down , yeah u made some solid comments I appreciate that, But accept the facts, the battery life oF SE is phenomenal when u compare it with the nokia .Older nokia sets had strong batetried now they dont.
BTW am no fan of any specific company , SE has their faults .
But nokia is not the God

I own this phone. It is an excellent phone for those who dont want a profession camera. Nokia should of included a flash, as the pictures when dark are of very poor quality. All other N6300 features are excellent, considering the outright price! I would suggest purchasing this phone if you are the kind of person who wants an excellent music player, completly customizable phone & at such a thin schmick look. Cheers.
