Thanks for you input about the resistor problem. I'm in the process of getting a Nokia 6300 but I'm trying to avoid the 'Made by Nokia' versions due to the inferior components the Asian market uses compared to the Hungarian versions. I have a Nokia 6230 which was made in Hungary and no problems whatsoever. Sometime ago I checked out somebody's 6230 which was made in China. The chinese version has a really pale and too bright a screen and worst of all it lacks colour compared to the Hungarian one. I love the Hungarian version because it has a nicely saturated and dark (but bright enough) screen. With these findings I decided to stick to Hungarian phones ever since. I recently learnt that 'Made by Nokia' means it is made my China or one of it's family nations, Signapore, Hong Kong etc. I want to get an Hungarian made 6300 but after reading your post, I'm afraid. I'm thinking of probably getting a Germany made version instead seeing that the quality is said to be the same as the Hungarian. If all else fails I may just have to get a 'Made by Nokia' version...as a last resort.
One question I would like to ask, why did you say switching from a Hungarian version to 'Made by Nokia' version will feel a bit different ?

How do we know whether the phone is 'made in Hungary', or 'Made by Nokia'?

the phone is great n ive just bought a memory card for it but i have a big problem evertime someone goes to send me a tune it keeps saying operation failed can anyone help me please??

ok guys let me put some important details about this sweet stuff over here.
I think some of you may noticed that there is a memory card problem with this phone.. ok for those who doesn't know the problem, let me break it down for you.
There is a batch of 6300 phones which are made in Hungary, the problem is the memory card disappears from the Gallery menu after around 15min - 1Hour, after that you have to restart the phone to get it back and still it disappears after above time frame, Nokia aware of this problem and they are requesting to submit the phone to Nokia Service centers. I kept changing 4 phones (6300s) which are made in Hungary. don't go wrong thinking this is a software error, THIS IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM, and only top level Nokia Serivce Centers can repair this problem as it is a problem with a "Resistor" on the phone mother board. So when you are buying a 6300 Made in Hungary, be sure to spend about 15Min - 1Hour and check the memory card problem, Simplest way to check this is,
Switch on your phone and check whether you can access and see the memory card in the gallery menu, after that come back to the stand by screen and Remove your battery cover and Remove the Memory card [Make sure nothing on your phone uses the memory card at the time], After Removing go to the Gallery Menu again, and make sure your memory card is disappeared from the menu, then again come back to stand by screen and Insert your memory card, again go back to Gallery Menu and check whether you can access the memory card and see it in the menu, if you found after above operation your memory card is missing from the Gallery menu, BoooOOom You got a bug with your phone..
Nokia refers this problem as an “electrical fault”, as I’ve mentioned I came across about 4 6300s which have the same problem.
Somehow I haven’t seen this problem in phones which are “Made By Nokia”, I have decided to buy that one, if you have used a Hungary 6300 and got a Made by Nokia 6300 later, you will feel bit difference but if you got a Made By Nokia at once, don’t worry your mob is gr8….

nokia 6300 is the one of the best ever phone,among the phones i used, good clearity,slim to hold, good mp3 sound,its an elegant phone,ya the battery life is short,but smart peoples smart choice..

It is a nice and elegant phone.It has large fonts for text messages. It has many useful features however, the battery cannot last long. I need to recharge it every night. Another flaw is that the phrases or sentence repeat at the last page of all text messages which confuses the reader. I hope these observations can be corrected.

its really a nice fone to have, elegant to look. But the problem is the battery life span. I only have text say a hundred messages, but then the battery doesnt last for @ list 48 hrs.

Battery is rubbish the camera is evan rubbisher!!! Trust me you'll find out when u get it!

Its Just Awesomeeeeeeeeeee..... battry time is also gooood. camera is gr8 very nice resolution, i loved this fone, i give 10 out of 10 to nokia only for this fone

i have just got that phone. i belive that this is the first amazing looking phone nokia invented. somethings are bad like the voice recording but i LOVE it

Had this phone for a 2 weeks now and all I can say is WOW. Every where I read reviews about this phone people are complaining about the battery standby life, I charged mine the first time and then only used it for a couple of quick calls and 3 sms's, and a bit of messing around within the menus and my battery lasted over 10 days, and I expect it will get better after charging and discharging a few more times so I am well happy. I really cant find anything bad to say about this phone, oozing with quality.... Nokia rule!

I love this phone! its features are great, the resolution superb! the only thing that lacks is "Flash Camera" u cant use its camera during night time.. but over all it rockzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

I have had this mobile for about 2 months & have got to say that its fantastic, very, very easy to use, excellent battery life & believe me I use this mobile a lot during the day with/without a Bluetooth headset, Excellent for Internet browsing using opera & for checking/sending email on the go, also the signal strength is one of the best I have had in a mobile, no missed calls, crashing or dropped calls & the clarity of the earpiece is really crisp & clear, playing music through the speaker again is very crisp & clear but there again what do you expect from a quality phone! . Now, would I recommend this phone, definitely, excellent on-screen graphics & design plus much more!

It looks good..[Shiny N Wide Screen]
It has a feature called Active Standby and it's color quality which are really good.
Sound clarity and I am surprised to say this is actually better than W810i!.
However, this is not a phone for serious indulgence.. For :
1.It isn't shipped with the data cable
2.Additional memory is only 117MB!
3.It 'hangs' sometimes and u have to 'restart' it..
4.Battery is... Let me not mention it
All in all a good phone if u don't mess with it too much..
And it's a good phone for obsessive people like me.. Good to bang my head with..

ohhh...nokia 6300....itz really an awesome cell phone....amazing.....slim....good looking...good price....good battery backup...a sweet 1.....its the best and super sexy phone.i bought it 3 days back.i drained all battery and charged for 12 hrs with phone turned off.it still is running on that charge.dont cry about battery guys.its keypad is as soft as moving ur fingers in butter.lolz..sound is good.i am happy after getting rid of D900 and i am 200 percent satisfied with 6300.I love 6300.
