ixiw,
You are out! .... there are already a few brands of hand phones(about the same overall size/volume) as the 6500 classic; available in China for months already, which can receive TV channals without paying a dime!
Don't try to be smart! You are just a lame boy! Sound like you are a farmer who just came to the city?! You have seen nothing yet ... I'm sorry for you, PERIOD.

ixiw,
You are only talking about services & charges in England! Look further & wider, as I'm about the majority of service providers around the globe!
Get to the point & give direct answers to my below questions...if you have any???!!!
1. This is the only 3G phone on the market that does not support video calling, why?
Ok, you said 3G are for fast data transfer; so why no 3.5G(HSDPA) with this phone?
2. Why is the 6500 slide(from the same family) got a front camera for video calling???!!!
3. Refering to what you posted, it sound to me like 3G services are meant only for fast data transfer, then why the hell all the other 3G or 3.5G phones have a front camera?????!!!!!!
Don't give excuses because you want to defend a phone that you like! This make you sound stupid & senseless....
Where is your brain?

To 2FyE:
"obviously believe that the general 3G phone users will use their 3G video calling service(higher service charge or monthly bill). If not, howdo they get back their invested money; let alone profit?!"
Erm... You have heard of mobile TV haven't you? That's about £5-10 extra per month.
What about 3G speed internet through your phone? Add another £5-8 per month.
How about downloading a music track nice and quickly? That'll be an extra 50p per track at least.
Football highlights? 50p again please.
Download a new game? 3G does it easy for a mere £5 per game.
So lets say you do all of the above - that's a good £12-25+ for the operators. Thats good money for them. They make a profit out of that. And give 10 years or so, and they could probably easily claw back their hundreds of millions of pounds worth of investment.
Do you think people would want to download the above content on scabby 2.5G data speeds? No. Because it would take all day or the quality would be so atrocious, it simply wouldn't make it worth it.
3G has allowed for the above content to be easily and readily available, hence why people are willing to spend money on it. THIS is why the operators invested so much in 3G technology - to sell content - NOT pointless video calls.
Use your logic next time, yes?

"So what data transfer are we talking about???!!!"
Ever heard of data cards?? People can also use their phones as modems (I use my 3G phone with Nokia PC Suite, gives me up to 384k connection when I am out the office).

Talking about today, if a 3G phone do not support video calling, then it's just a technical issue or a cost saving move by the manufacturer!
In countries where they have 3G service(maybe not where you live), investers/service provider who invested so much money into 3G network; obviously believe that the general 3G phone users will use their 3G video calling service(higher service charge or monthly bill). If not, howdo they get back their invested money; let alone profit?!

The idea behind 3G was for video calling! When 3G phones was first available years back, there was no such thing as data transfer or what so ever. Phones were a lot simplier by then ...no MMS; no bluetoth; no e-mail etc. So what data transfer are we talking about???!!!

Very beautiful piece of hardware. Very calming and charming looks indeed. Fashion dies soon in the in-today-out-tomorrow game. But style stays for eternity. This IS a stylish phone.
Based upon my personal experience ... if "seasoned" properly, the declared talk-time of 5hrs 30mins might be easily increased upto 7 to 8hrs.
Once again, very beautiful. Truly charming. Traditional yet fresh. Fire on ice??!! Lovely.

question:
when i charge the battery via the USB cable.. it seems that there's no indicator that tells you the charging it complete. is that true? i've plugged it in for like a few hours now.. and the battery indicator on the top left keeps moving that's it. I don't think it tells u if the battery is full. i just keeps on going once it's plugged in. is that true?

Look around and you can still get some excellent buys with the 6500 Classic too.
I didn't do the dumba$$ thing of waiting months for this phone, only to get it on the first week its released on a rip off contract - which is what they are all going to be.
I waited a week and half and then managed to get an excellent deal (via redemption) - a FREE Nokia 6500 Classic on a 12 month contract, £18 per month and thats with 400 xnet anytime mins and 500 texts.
So my little extra wait on it's release was beyond worth it - it was pretty damn shrewd cos now it has seriously paid off. This is my cheapest contract ever and with the best phone I have ever had too - and I have owned quite a few in my time too...
Just goes to show why you shouldn't p!ss your pants if you are waiting for something - play it cool and it always pays off.

Yep no difference between the 6300 and 6500 classic. In fact i was gonna wait for the 6301 since it has WIFI. but i just can't resist the look of this thing. Besides, 6300 is a free phone with contract in my country. Thus, every other person's got a 6300. Honestly if i was gonna get a phone every other person is using... i wouldn't be here.

"I'm a nokia fan and was really excited about the 6500 classic, to be honest though, save yourself some money and get a 6300, there is no difference whatsoever."

Apart from the fact the 6500 Classic looks miles better and with its price, is much more exclusive.

"3G was originally meant for videao calling"
No.
3G is for data and video calls require a large amount of data to be sent and received.
