Well the 6500 Classic black version was supposed to be released end of September. It wasn't.

It was then expected early October. It never arrived.

It eventually showed its horribly late as$ the second week of October - but only on severely limited availability - which included being available on only one operator, and one of the worst at that as well (O2).

Then an official release date of October 15 was stated. This has already been pushed back.

And for no good reason.

It will probably be another good four weeks or so before the black version is available on all the networks. Most of them don't even know when it will be coming out, and that includes the distributors as well (CPW).

So if you think the Bronze version is coming out end of October, I really wouldn't hold your breath...

Now this is just pathetic. I'd really like to buy the bronze version.. Strange Nokia's plans, if I may say so...

The bronze version is going to be released FEBRUARY 2008.

Consider this to be frighteningly "quick", because if Nokia had taken the equivalent amount of time they have taken to release the black version, you'd probably be looking at Easter 2009. The useless tw*ts.

how could this be same as 6300?

                this one has
                -3G
                -S40 5th Edition
                -has a LED flash
                -longer hour of talk-time
                -much thinner @ only 9.5mm VS 6300's 11.7mm
-much better design & materials used

but this one has NO built-n radio

Man, I'm so disappointed then... I'm not going to get one in black, so I will have to wait until next February? This is crazy! Silly Nokia. Yeah, I haven't seen Bronze in shops either...

I think an even more important question is why it has taken this long at all.

The phone is basically the Nokia 6300, only in a different case.

In my opinion, Nokia completely screwed up the marketing plan for this phone, which is why it has taken forever and ever to be released. Even though it now has been released, it is only avaialable on one operator, with severely limited availability on two others.

From what I have seen, the bronze version is planned (as is usual with different colours_ to be released in a few months time, just to bolster sales once again.

It looks like the bronze coloured 6500 will not be available until FEBRUARY of 2008, which is f*cking ridiculous. I would look for something else to show Nokia that such poor business models cost money...:

Is the bronze going to cost more? are they using real bronze or soemthing why is it taking longer to release a different color

It is classed as a "fashion phone" and as such commands a fashion phone price.

Plus the price will probably halve in two months time...

Any of you seen the bronze floating around? I saw one place for around $730!

the phone is great, but that's an absurd price.

20K in greenhills??? that is sooo expensive!!!
i saw one @ P18K on ebay philippines.. but its still xpensive though. anyway, i think the price will just drop immedietly in just weeks after the market is flooded w/ this phone and other new releases.

phoneslimited.co.uk is a price comparison website, not a stockist.

The links go through to CoolNewMobile - aka phoneboxdirect.

Isn't it strange how the above company is the ONLY supplier in the country to have the 6500 Classic on Networks which are yet to even release the phone?

A quick internet search will show you why you shouldn't go anywhere near the above company as well...

Which leaves the big three highstreet brands, direct from the supplier (which is ALWAYS bad value for money) or e2save/onestopphoneshop (both owned by CPW) or mobiles or mobileshop.

None of the last four - which are all online based and offer the best contracts (and don't f*ck you over) - have the 6500 Classic on any operators other than O2, Virgin and Orange if you look hard enough - all of which are very, very, very poor value for money when compared to T Mobile or Three.

So as I said, the wait continues... I am no where near desperate enough to get this phone asap after a two month wait on a desperately-outsourced, rip-off network like O2 - nor am I willing to get screwed over by a bunch of cowboys like coolnewmobile...
