Nokia 6500 classic

O2 is probably CURRENTLY offering the best service at the moment.
However, about the video calling:
Consumer Pay Monthly Terms:
From 1 January 2008, video calls will be excluded from the monthly allowance and charged 50p per minute. Video call charges start when the recipient accepts the call, even if the video call subsequently fails, therefore a failed call may be subject to a minimum charge. Video calling is handset and network dependant. Use of 3G is subject to 3G coverage
Also, vodafone seem to be offering the same phones at the same tarriff for free. While o2 is charging £30 - £100 for the same handset on the same tarriff. (12 month ones)

I am truly puzzled as to why Nokia chose to make the Battery cover out of freakin' plastic!!
What woulda been so hard just to make it out of anodized aluminum along with the rest of the phone?
I bought the 6500 Slide a few days ago, & let me say that this is THE most solid mobile phone ever built. It is a piece of mobile art.
Looks expensive, feels expensive, and the new S40 V.5 UI is great.
I recommend 100% it to anyone looking for a middle, to upper tier class phone. You will absolutely dig it.

what balls you talk an mms on o2 takes 4 texts out of your allowance, plus video calls are taken straight from your call allocation thats what i call value for money . T-Mobile 50p per minute to video call RIP OFF.

I've just purchased this mobile in black through eBay and i love it. I had a lot of trouble taking the back cover off so got my friend to take it off for me, he struggled abit too but managed to take it off after 5 mins or so. You have to be careful while trying to slide it off because pressing too hard did do a little damage to the plastic back. The 6500 is very similar to the 6300 although there is no volume button on the side, no power button on top and the only way to charge it is through a usb cord. They supply you with two, one for the wall and one through the computer. i'm only using the computer usb to charge it up.
If you want it for the looks ( the same reason why i got it) then you'd love it but if you expect more features then i'd say just stick to the 6300. Both work exactly the same.
That's my opinion.

Because they offer such "basic" services for such high amounts of money and the customer support is frustrating because they outsource to the CarPhoneWarehouse. And a 2-3 day delay on your account usage is painfully unnaceptable as we enter the 21st Century too.
£35 for a monthly contract on O2 - and all it allows you to do is send txts and call people - for the same price, you can get a T-Mobile contract which includes MMS into your allowance, an 'always on' internet connection through your phone, you can actually speak to someone at T-Mobile and you can get an up-to-the-minute account update, like ALL of the other operators, apart from - you've guessed it - O2.
That's why I don't like O2 - the service they offer is very, very basic, it's frustrating and it offers very poor value for money.
And before anyone mentions it - reception is complete balls when it comes to choosing between operators these days. Mobile phone masts are everywhere and these days, if there are no masts in a particular area for your operator, your phone will automatically switch to the nearest anyway.
So it boils down to services offered - and cost. And O2 is very poor on both fronts. Why do you think they lapped up the iPhone and Vodaafone - a far bigger company - pulled out?
Becuase O2 like ripping their customers off with horrendously bad value contracts, with substandard services (the iPhone isn't even 3G, etc).
So it was a perfect match then...

This phone is currently available on O2 - who are quite possibly one of the worst operators out there.
It is also currnetly avaialble (through Carphonewarehouse) on Virgin Mobile, which has painfully stingy contracts, the value of which is almost as much of a rip-off as Vodafone.
T-Mobile easily do the most appealing contracts with their Web n Walk service, although the 6500 will not be available on T-Mobile until the middle of next week.
Hopefully it will be released on Three as well - they also do some excellent contracts.
The only other thing will be making sure this phone is still in stock - it has already sold out from most dealers, which is probably due more to limtied numbers, rather than a huge rush to buy the phone.

Your opinion is like aids, no one wants it.....
Anyone noticed the ad's about this handset?. Nokia seem to be going all out for it which is good. Even made the back page of our internal mag here at Vodafone.
Just seems so long we have been waiting for this now!

O2 have 6500 classic in stock. I ordered mine today. Should be here in morning. I get my phones from O2 direct, not from website or shop.
