Unfortunately, there isn't an option for using... moreI guess you could be right, I'm with orange i've got the latest firmware and I have the option, however I do not have the option of putting my ring tone on silent even though it shows the symbol for that on my hash key,
so I guess its just one off those glitches, but on saying that, I do like my phone very much and have had no other problems with it.

Unfortunately, there isn't an option for using your own voice tags. I too have problems sometimes using the voice recognizer, but it's only limited to a few friends with unique names.
Have you used the "voice training" option on the phone?
I found that after using this option, it chooses the names better.
Be sure to be in a quiet environment, & speak the names clearly that the phone tells you to. That may help with the phone choosing the wrong names.

I am starting to believe that the camera sounds option really isn't there as an option on some phones.
We have both given very easy to follow & clear instruction on how to do it, but some people just don't have that option I believe.

What a piece of rubbish. I bought this phone in Dubai from Axiom Telecom and it does not keep its charge. Living in Bermuda, I went to New York to buy a battery,but the same thing happened. It was not the battery. The phone is defective. Has anybody else had this problem? Also in New York they said they don't sell that model. How could Nokia knowingly sell a defective product. So now I am writing the Axiom to replace the phone with the warranty. But I will have to mail the phone back I suppose to get a new phone. I don't have time for this. Last time ever with any Nokia product

I'v been using this for a month and the reception is crap. Call drops off every now & then. Sometimes you can't hear the person speaking at the other end and vice vers even if you are in a good coverage area. I've sebt if for repair, software upgraded but no joy. I'm changing thw phone today

Thanks once again. Much appreciated. Is it possible to store name using MY voice tag (with Contact no's meaning instead of dialling Mobile Slider I just say the name and it opens it up) and not the phone's? I have a problem with some of the names, when I mention a name it opens another name. I remember the old Nokia's there was a facility whereby you will store the name and then you pronounce the name in that way it is easier for it to recognise your voice.

I know what you mean about the front camera lol, I've given up telling people how to switch off the camera sound on their mane camera, because they don't seem to read what i write, or just don't listen.

Yes, if you take off the steel battery cover, your ring-tone, SMS tone, theme, & profile customizations will revert back to default.
But why do people continually need to take off the battery cover?
If you transfer a lot of files, just by a USB Bluetooth for your computer, they're around six bucks & send files via your computer to your phone. Then you never have to take off the battery cover.

Glad it worked out for you. I can't believe Nokia wouldn't help you. I like their mobiles, but their customer service is horrific.
I have no problem helping people here....just as long as people don't ask "How do I use the front camera to take pics"...lol
BTW....if you turn you Auto-Update Time feature back on, the time might be totally correct.

hy all I heard that nokia 6500 has problems with the slot card,everytime u remove it u'll loose the settings which mean screensavers and others.Can u tell me pls If this is true?

mahan, 22 Jun 2008but there is no option camera sound in my setting hi... i might be able to help you... go to your camera settings scroll down and bang there youll find it... camera sound on or off... thats it... try to explore your fon..its the only best way to appreciate it.i hope this helps...

Mobile Slider....You a star!!! Everything is perfect now.
Imagine Nokia Customer care couldn't help me. They told me to leave my phone so that they can send it Jo'burg for repairs and it was going to take three weeks. They also do repairs there but could figure out what was the problem.!!!

To Nomhle:
Go to this site:

Highlight your city, & then choose GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) & hit the "Convert time now" button.
You correct time will then be displayed.
Now..go to your phone's Menu>Settings>Date & Time>Date & Time Settings & scroll down till' you see the Time Zone option.
Either add or subtract the number of hours from the website I provided, & your time

I tried following the instructions below but it's changing my clock which was correct. I'm not sure If I explained this correct. My Cellphone time as of now says 13h45 but when I send an sms it registers as if I received it at 11h45. I hope this is clear...
stamp from your SMS messages will be correct.
Also...be sure that the "Auto Update of Time" feature is turned off first.
Then everything should be fine.
