This phone is with me for over 2 years now. I bought it last September of 2004.
This is a very tough phone. My wife has thrown it to me twice already and of course it didn't hit me. The first time it hit a concrete wall, the second was a cabinet made of wood. The frame suffered a crack but it worked perfectly well after assembling it. Until now I'm still using my Nokia 6610i and will use it hopefully for two more years.

I have been using this phone for over six months now. I have a problem with connectivity; will someone help me connect it to the PC? The CA-42 cable is hard to comeby here and the DKU 2 cable, which available in the market is unfortunately, not compactible to the phone. Will someone help me obtain the CA-42 cable if that is the only way of resolving the problem? Please send your comments to my mail address; that is bo_asu2003@yahoo.com. Thank you.

6610i is strong and reliable.Good battery life, lightweighted, snd nice radio reception.
Problem is with the camera.Quality is poor and the picture size is very small.Infrared doesn't work.
This phone is ideal for rough use.I have been using it for 3 years. It fell down a dozen times but it works absolutely fine.If u just wantto receive and speak i recommend 6610i

The infrared of this phone it´s only to send or receive contacts.
Pictures or sound is not possible to send by infrared.
If you guys think your infrared doesn´t work try do send a contact to see if it works.

The phone is a bit out dated, but is still a nice phone. Nothing wrong with infrared.
I use it to transfer data to and from my pc all the time. Pics, backup sms, connect to the internet, transfer java midlets ect.
Make sure your infrared port is a "IRDA" port and is enabled in your bios (the setting when your pc starts up eg "Press F2 for setup"). Also get the lastest nokia pc suite software. WinXP should first popup with an Nokia 6610i connected balloon, then Nokia pc suite with detect is.
Hope it helps

Hi Ishika, this is to inform you that the infrared port is located on the topmost left hand corner of the mobile with a kind of black port which is rectangular in shape.

Been using it for a year and a half. changed the panel and it looks new again. Q: how many lives does it have. fell down from the bus. drove the car over it, still works. Dont feel like parting even though market is flooding with new technology and designs. there are some things u cant beat. its like a trustworthy partner u can always rely on.
