hi, guys. i'm from the Philippines and i finally bought a N6630 last week. Firmware version is 2.39.15 11-11-04 RM-1. after a few hours of checking it, i found a bug in the Themes section. the default color of the Nokia theme is blue, but when you try to change the color palettes, the default color will still be used. also, when you preview the color Pink, it will display the Gray palette. i reset the unit; results were the same. so, i guess i'll wait for some time for the release of a new firmware version. crap. haven't tried ALL the available functions yet, but so far that's the only thing that's bugging (pun intended) me

My 6630 has restarted itself once or twice but nowhere near as often as you describe, since the phone is pretty new it is very doubtful that new firmware is out and even if it is the nsc takes ages to get it sometimes. It'll probably be another couple of months at least till we see new firmware.

Just out of interest what are your firmware details? Mines are

Same problem here, tonight when I took pictures of my daughter, spontaneously it's reset, and before that also few times. It's quite slow when you got new message, and when you are looking for missed calls.

          Hi there,
I just bought a N6630 today here in sweden. Its a great phone. I have never used a sybian before, so i have to get used to it. But i have any way noticed that one time when i was testing the calculator the whole reset by it self then anouther time when it was connected to the computer it reset again and then it has happened anouther couple of times... should i take it back and get anouther one? is it the phone itself and if it is so is there an upgrade?
well apart from that i think i like sybian way to do it!
          joseph.

Reload this Page How many times does you 6630 reboot?
When I leave my 6630 on my desk, I sometimes see it (and hear it) reboot a few times. I'd say about 3 or 4 times in an afteroon.
It doesn't ask for the pin again, it just goes to a blank (white) screen, then beeps, then shows the Nokia logo, then it's up again. (but any apps that I had open will then be closed)

Not too much of a problem, unless you're running IM apps, which I'd like to.

How many times does your reboot?

Also, I hear that a firmware update in the future may not be compatible with the early 6630 models due to a future change in the hardware. Any truth in that?

PS: it also reboots without any apps open. so u can rule out a misbehaving app

recently i´ve bought a nokia 6630 smartphone and i´m really enjoying the phone its top class but i have one problem. before i bought it ive read many reviews including the one on this site and i was delighted with high resolution sample photos.i have it sine 2 days so maybe i do something wrong but i dont think so. but the problem is when i shoot a photo i dont get such a good photo not even near.when i shoot in the dark with a little light the photo is pretty dark and has a lot of "dots" and i used night mode.light and kontrast adjustments dont seem to improve that a lot.ive seen one picture taken in the dark in the review on this site and its almost flawless i dont know how that coud be. pictures taken in a daylight are surely better but again not even near like those in the review. they are better from those taken with the VGA camera but not in such drastic way (we´re talking about 1.3 MPx).some of them are quite comparable and this supposed to be one of the best camera phones. none of the pictures that ive taken is comparable with the ones in the review and i really dont know how did they get such good pictures. its not a technical problem with my phone because i have 2 friends with the same phones and it the same.im completly satisfied with the video.
i would really like to see opinions of the other nokia 6630 phones and their expiriences and especially from the reviewer who shot all those sample photos. i beggining to think that the pictures in the review arent taken with this phone.
i cant attach the best picture ive gotten to show you cuz its too big

I answered my own question a bit. Did a bit of research and found there are not only an MMC and RS-MMC but also there are 2 versions of RS-MMC(i originally thought there were only 1 RS-MMC type of card). The 6630 supports DV(Dual voltage) RS-MMC only; and these are currently not available to buy (at least none bigger than 64MB).
Of course in 6 months time there maybe better phones available, but what i was referring to was will they release an updated phone which basically is a software upgrade within a few short months (like what happened to me when i got the 7250)

If one doesnt like the 6630 shape, then dont buy the phone. Sure a newer 6630i or 6820 will be out in 6 months time. If u want to wait, dont buy this one. The technology will be always cheaper everyday!!

Good news the Zitron Nokia 6630 is officially OUT in malaysia market as of TODAY Christmas day!! Pricing is about RM2388-2688. Sure these 10 days will cost a bomb to get. If u want cheaper sets, wait for 1 month then get it.

They are finally selling the Nokia 6630 in places like the carphonewarehouse! (UK).
Is there an issue with the RS-MMC cards? i have read in places that people havent been able to get RS-MMC cards to work in the 6630. I have found somewhere which sells 1GB ones but i do not want to buy one in case it does not work; or 512MB would be fine but i am reading bad things about the MMC reader in the 6630
                                Anyone know?
Also, they arent planning a 6630i or anything are they? i bought a 7250 when they came out and a few months later they release a 7250i :Z
