hi guys...am usng this phone for more than 3weeks now and i havent got any complaint in this..the light adjustment is actu;;y inverse as the other friend said and its actually used to give battery more life......

Hello all 701 users,
I'm bought his phone on 10th Oct 2011 for INR.16500, after couple of day I updated the firmware to latest version. My phone restarts occasionally when I try to access video files are selection ringtone in profile etc. Initially when I open MENU and scroll screen lags after few seconds scroll is very smooth, I've installed few apps from OVI stores. Anybody else facing these issues?

I've been I using mine since monday & I've been loving it. Just finished sending a 280MB file by bluetooth to my 701 now, so d file transfer error is probably a device specific problem.

Bought this phone over Motorola Defy. The vibrant screen, battery life & the 1 Ghz processor went in favor of Nokia 701. However, I must say that games like Asphalt 5 are still laggy in some scenes despite the processing power. Menu also lags with multiple apps installed. Probably a case of under-utilized hardware.
Camera is great for basic Point & Shoot photos for posting on facebook, but not for photoshop etc.
Battery life is awesome with wifi (no 3G).
Structurally, the phone is sleek but is heavy to hold in one hand. So, watching videos etc while holding the phone is bound to cause strain.
Music player has no editable equalizer preset :-(
As GSM arena has said, this phone is well worth a look. It is a welcome change from what we'd come to expect of nokia touch phones. This (Nokia 500,600 series) will shatter most preconceived notions about symbian being a dead OS & Nokia touch phones being terrible.

Y nokia still giving fixed/full focus in its high end mobiles.. Processor is also just 434 or 680 MHz, instead of 1 or 1.5 GHz... "Nokia days" will be soon over..

What I am trying to say is that only the s^3 enjoys the major update, s60v5 cannot get the Anna version or the Belle. You may not understand how frustrating this is since you have both s60v5 and s^3(Belle).
When I was using x6, I used to visit Nokia betalab to keep my phone up to date and sophisticated. Then the s^3 was introduced and they started giving preference to it. For instance, swype was introduced to the two but they made a special version for s^3. Same thing happened to the popular ovi map.
All the same Nokia is still leading in the update area as they try to stabilize their phones firmwares through constant updates. And true, even after 2016 the symbian phone will still have a stand.
