No, the 7710 cannot use S60 applications. It uses S90 applications and can also run some S80 apps.
That said, I have run some S60 apps on my phone and they worked, but you cannot interact with them as you have no "real" keyboard which they are expecting.

You CANNOT upgrade your own firmware without specialist equipment. I have e-mailed you a link to a forum on which I posted a picodrive Rom site. Dont ask for pirate copies of software here though please as it p*sses off the admins and you will be deleted/banned.
Video quality with the 7710's video camera is poor. The only thing you can do to improve it is make sure you have HIGH quality selected (default is normal) and then hold the phone quite still.
Best site with some free and trial ware is www.my-symbian.com (look in the S90 area).

hi der guys. im just new here and i also want to have some talks about our phones, cant we just upgrade the firmware of our nokia 7710?also, i have a picodrive,could someone here give me some roms so that i could play some games. my smart movie player also isnt licensced,could someone gave me the licensce number so that i could use it as long as i could,im also noticing that the videos taken and being viewed in real player is very poor,how can we enhanced it coz we all know that nokia 7710 is one of the best phones released right?can someone also give me a website of freeware games. i hope everyone of you here will reply in my post. more power to everyone! hyacinth18 of PHILIPPINES.

Just letting people know that my 7710 is being replaced as I the bottom right key is malfunctioning. Never had a problem with a nokia before, but this phone is toast. ALso it decided to rearrange all my icons for no reason and randomly reboot.
Still a good phone, but be careful buying one without a decent support cover.

It is possible to playing mp3's as ringtones. They must be stored on your device (not the memory card). Place the mp3 in C:\MyDocs\Sound clips and then look in your profile and it will be there. Just select it and you're away. I just tested this again and it works perfect.
Have sent info about themes. I dont condone piracy etc though. EEmame and picodrive are pretty good though.

Now that you are back, Please can you let me know if I can play mp3 files as ringtones on the 7710?
Also please give me a few links from where I can download tones, themes and games for the 7710

Satan, I have sent you a link to a site which has quite a few themes.
I have a Jabra Headset (quite a cheap one) and I just have to set it into "active" mode and switch on my phone to look for it and it does straight away.
Just backed up my phone with PC Sync (its sick and going to be returned) with no problems. I also managed to synchronise my Outlook with my phone with no problems. I have PC Suite 6.6.16. Anyway, work beckons...

Love my 7710. but I cannot get it to recognize my Motorola BT or Jambra BT headsets. I see's every computer in the room but not the headsets. Any ideas ?

Sorry guys, I have my children with me at th emoment, so this is the first time I have been able to log on for ages.
Let me know any problems at my email address or I will be back at work (and thus able to check more frequently) tommorrow, I do know that a lot of people have had OS related issues with PC Suite.
I have to admit I've had no problems. At work I use PC SUite (Win 2000) and at home I use a card reader. I will however install PC Suite at home and try to sync etc including with Outlook.

7710: 8.5
(My scores anyway). Maybe 7.5 for 910i. The 910i is quite an old phone now and has a poorish camera. Its not bad though at all.
SId, are you opening your phone up using PC browser (under my computer)? This is the easiest way to transfer files. Also try getting Powerfile as this will also allow you to copy files to and from the System (hidden) folder.
Again, sorry I have been away. I have also an awful lot of deadlines at work right now.

Hi All,
I am trying to PC sync my 7710. I am able to connect it to PC using data cable but not able to synchronise with Outlook.
The version is 3.04.2. Is this the problem ?

Hi Sid,
With the latest version of PC Suite 6.6, you should definitely be able to connect to your PC, provided you have the USB cable that came alongwith the set.
I did data transfer at midnight yesterday and it is all working fine.
I still need to do lot of experiments and I shall keep you posted

Hi Sid,
With the new version of the PCSuite 6.6, I was able to connect my 7710 to my PC and transfer all data.
I got this working at midnight yesterday !!
I still need to do lot of experiments to give u full details
However, with the new version and the data cable that comes by default with the instrument, it works.

hey i've got this noia 7710 which i bought in january and the firmware version is some 3.08.1 so tell me wats the latest version in the firmware and is there and new software added aor any new features in the latest firmwares

hey i bought this new nokia 7710 and its gr8. the only thing wrong abt it is that we can't set the tones like mp3 or wav which r saved in the mc as ringtone. and even though 6 months have passed since its release there aren't much softwares or themes in particular to download for it. the other sad part is that i had a k700 before and i had a theme editor for it which was very simple but the theme editor for the nokia 7710 is very complicated. i didn't have any idea untill i read the whole read me file. so if anybody have a different or new theme please mail it to me. my id is neoinme@yahoo.com
