Whitchking, never go Treo. They are the worst phones that we have ever launced. If you like the palm os and its limitations, then go with it, but in my personal experience with both the Treo 600 & 650, I would reccomend staying away. Being a 9500 user, I would say the 9500 is the best bet for a business phone.
Siddarth, the video on the Jam is very good, I will admit. But when the photos and videos are viewed on a pc, then they are really just avarage.

Thanks Hugo :o)
Can you advise which business phone you would recommend in your experience? I think the 9500 is best for my fiancee, but I have just started looking in the last week and these things take time.
Intersting to hear what you say about the Jam, as that the Treo 650 and the 9500 are top of her list. I'll let her know.

Hi guys.
Again, working in telekoms I have some info on the jam again.
The Jam is a "good" phone, but is has some serious issues. Even the latest version of the Jam ROM is not up to scratch. It has some major instability bugs, and a major drawback is that you can not send any information over Bluetooth with it.
The screen is not of the best quality, and the sound is particularly bad. And it takes ages to show pictures in thumbnail view.
Its screen scratches very easily and is extremely expensive to replace, whereas the 7710's screen is not all that expensive (R1500 compared to R2500).
I have alot of unhappy customers who are now stuck with a phone (Jam) which they do not want any more.
Regards.

Siddarth. Hard to say really. I have read comments from people who have sold their Jam's for the 7710 and prefer the 7710, but then I have heard of people selling the 7710 too.
It all comes down to what you want it for. The 7710 has the better screen, camera and a radio. The Jam is faster and has more apps available, but is supposed to be less usable and somewhat buggy and sucks as a phone (apparently).
The Jam comes with Standard Applications for the i-mate JAM :
• i- mate™ bundled Themes and Ringtones
• Microsoft® Pocket Outlook; Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks
• Microsoft® Windows® Media Player 10
• Microsoft® MSN Messenger
• Microsoft® Pocket Internet Explorer
• Microsoft® Pocket Word
• Microsoft® Pocket Excel
• Microsoft® ActiveSync
• KSE Truefax v2.0
• Camera
• Notes
• Album (video & audio)
• Photo contacts / Photo caller ID
• Wireless Modem (included in CD)
• XBackup
Reviews I have read gave the Jam higher marks than the 7710 just. I dont have a Jam, and if I were to choose, I would not get one, but that is because I like Nokia, a good camera and screen and a radio. I can also put up with the odd crash which reading about phones, they all seem to have. I'm trying to convince my fiancee to get the 9500 which is what I think I would get in her (business) shoes as I think the Jam will annoy her as a phone.

Arun
I've had the 7710 a while now and would say that the latest firmware helps a lot over the initial versions which were slow and buggy. Currently my phone is very reliable, but then I am messing about with it less (and leanding to people less)and use Switcher to clear up the memory every now and then. It is no slower than any other phone I have used either.
However, when making phone calls, my ear brushes the screen and can adjust the volume or even cut off the call which is annoying. Also, I have a couple of light scratches on the screen now, which is a shame. Also the stylus has fallen out when I take it out of my pocket a couple of times. It is slow to display photos if you have many in the directory and the pdf viewer can take an age (but it does on my 2Ghz pc too). I have not recommended it to my fiancee as she needs a reliable phone for business. I've suggested to her the i-mate Jam or the 9500.
All that said, I love the thing myself and think its great I can play games, listen to the radio, read a book or watch a video if I'm bored. Its also great having Slovoed dictionary, f(x) and the convertor to hand and I have found the MS Office compatibility handy for work. The camera is v. good quality too.
Hope that helps.

Hi SERJOE
Don't be upset. It's not England. It's rather NOKIA who has not yet distributed the ver 4.01 firmware to all it's CARE-center(I Think!).'Cos I'm from India.Even though I just managed to buy a new N7710 last saturday with the latest ver. of firmware, two of my friends have confirmed with Nokia Care(their authorized service station in India)that they haven't yet recieved the latest firmware to help them.
Cheers

Serjoe, if you hate England so much, no one is stopping you leaving. Please keep your opinion of England to yourself as it has nothing to do with phones. It especially thoughtless given the current climate in England to say you will "join the club". There again, you never thanked me for last my e-mail to you (but there again no one did), so what do I expect?
