Sorry, just saw your post. There are a lot of ZIPs that MAME will not recognize. Firstly, install MAME to C (DEVICE) and not the memory card. Secondly, Roms have to be stored in c:\Mame\Roms in ZIP format (do not unzip). Thirdly, as I said, the .dat file is available from harmonicode website and it shows what zips are compatible. If you can't find this, then just try random zips (I would recommend you just download a load and try them). Fourthly, any mame roms which use vector graphics (ie battlezone) are not compatible and will fail.

You can dial using just your fingers. I also manage to dial and look up contacts with my finger (nails). THe number keypad that comes up for phone calls is quite big.
AS for firmware downloads, I dont have a clue and my only advice would be use Google. I understood they did have the latest firmware in India though. I also understand there is specialist equipment required to do this. There is some mention of it in My-symbian and also mobile-review forums. Let me know how you go.

hey guys i am new but know a lot abt mobile industry just wanted to know whether the new firmware is avaliable on the net itself cause i am sitting on the net and trying to search it i don't seem to find it help u guy;s need badly cause i stay in india and the nokia showrooms don't have the latest firmware as of now if there's a link to where i can download it from the net and set it up manualy thanx i'll be back

but now i got another problem. the zip file that i uploaded to my phone the eemame cant recognise it. And there's no .dat file in the zip file..
how should i get it done? PLEASE GUIDE ME...

I'm not sure what this forum is like for posting links to ROMS, but I suppose as long as I assume you legally own all the ROMS you download (as of course I do...) then you can get them from: http://www.rom-world.com/dl.php?name=MAME
You should download and check the eemame dat file first as it shows you which files are compatible with eemame and also explains about recompiling them if required. That is available from http://www.harmonicode.com/EEMame/roms.shtml There are 677 compatible games.

Okay. Firstly, there is a firmware upgrade to .26 which came out in April which has increased performance and stability. I would recommend people having problems check if they have this. Secondly, if you are suddenly having stability problems, I would suspect that you have loaded an application recently which it doesn't like. I also noticed the phone gets temperamental when the battery is getting low (and does the camera ever run it down quick!) or if the memory card is getting full.
The phone is capable of running .RAM files. Have you tried more than one file? Have you proven the file will run okay in Windows first? If you have, then I dont know what to suggest. They work on mine okay.
As far as which is the best phone, it depends what you want it to do. The 7710 has a better camera, a radio, screen and better sound quality than the 910i. However, it is a bit unstable and a bit slow and does not have a lot of extra software at the moment. I prefer it to the 910i, but that is because of what I wanted out of the phone. The 910i has higher resale value here (UK) than the 910i too. I have heard that the XDA 2 Mini is better than the 7710, but I dont know.
Audio volume wise, I have heard that the 7710 has about the highest volume of any of their phones when playing MP3s. I'm not massivley impressed myself with it when outdoors, but it works very loudly indoors (I have to grab my phone quick or I annoy everyone when it rings) or with the headphones. So it is pretty loud, but gets lost in traffic noise (its certainly not a ghetto blaster).
Switcher (which I beleive is what you are referring to) is a freeware program (I think its on my-symbian) which is used to periodically close any applications which have been left open by the OS. I understand it does a better job than the phone does and when people see their phone suffering performance issues or reliability. You can also achieve the same affect with the latest firmware by pressing the bottom right button for 5 seconds. Actually, scratch that, I have just installed Switcher and it does far more than the button.It enabled me to close far more.You can find info about it at "all about symbian" website

This phone makes heads turn, but what I don't get is, why on other site opinions this phone is a dreaem come true, and other sites(GSM Arena), this phone is a mistake.
The only thing Im worried about is, Nokia 7710 built with so much Bugs that no buyers would buy it?
If so is there a Software Upgrade?
This Phone would be unbelievable if it had
Intel(R) processor(Like PDA Handhelds)

Hello, I am considering the 7710 as an option for a new phone but as my wife won't let me get more than 1 a year I need some info. I am encouraged by most reviews, but I have a question; what is this crystal switch chip that is supposed to improve it's performance? Where can I find information on it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've been using the 7710i now for about 6 weeks. I had previously praised it's abilities and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Sadly now thought after several systems crashes adn hangings i've come to curse this device. It just seems to eb a gltich of the operating System and it periodically crashes or hangs. Nothing else for it but to take the battery out and reboot it, painstakingly slow and not really convinient if your in a hurry. So me thinks Nokia need to go back to the drawing board with this OS and sort out the bugs. Plus it's really ackward making phone calls a the keyboard is in the wrong plain to the way in which you hold the phone, and the keyboard doesn't stay in view.

Video clarity depends on your source and the sampling rate. Smart movie comes with two examples and one is blurry, the other is perfect. I have copied a couple of things and they are pretty good, but I have more playing to do.

I bought this set today after a long search & analysis on the cell phones. I found it best among all of them. Firstly I was afraid from the user reviews that, this phone is dam slow, but I am not agree on this point. It’s doing fantastic. Thanks to Nokia for launching this Tech Savvy phone..

Ankit. Please look at earlier posts in this forum. There is a full list there. If you can't be bothered, then I cant either. Sorry, but too many people post without even bothering to look past the first page.
There is no built in flash on the 7710. It has an inbuilt night vision mode. You can have MP3s playing in the background of any application, except using the phone itself, when it is muted.
Version of EEmame that you have is correct. You can download the DAT file for mini EEMAME which will list what is compatible. There are a few hundred.
