As such I am having 7 hours SOT with the phone. No gaming but extensive browser and multitasking to an extent the phone gets warm. Some YouTube and movies. Due you think battery backup is OK? What I'm more concerned is when the phone switched off it will drain the full battery in a week when switched off.

It is always possible that HMD discovered some bug after first wave & stopped roll out to fix it. Better to have bug free experience any day. Hopefully the MR will be worth the wait.

Did not receive the much hyped MR build (00WW_4_16B) in India. Instead received a tiny 40.55 MB update for my Nokia 7 Plus, upgrading security patch to Sep, 2020. My current build number after update is (00WW_4_15D_SP04).

✍️,The Nokia 7 Plus was announced all the way back in February 2018 and went on sale in April of that year. According to the Nokia official updates tracker, it's gotten 40 software updates as of this September 2.
It's really incredible

RishiGuru, 21 Sep 2020Never knew the Nokia 7 Plus is still available for sale!!!
... moreFYI : If you are getting an SOT of 5-6 hours in a day, it's good. If it is less than that try these steps.
Try using apps killing softwares like Greenify. Also you can try disabling background data access to most of your annoying apps. Alternately you can use Blokada (open source) which stops apps from sending data to ad providers, thereby reducing web calls over data/wifi & increasing your battery life.

Got one last year at $165. For that price I was blown away with its built quality & configuration. I have the 4/64 GB option though, in white. You can crack a coconut with this phone, its that solid built. Great display (I was lucky to get the better IPS panel, which reviewers received), fast charging. The phone has is beauty in simplicity and the no-nonsense design arguably gives off a stylish vibe that's nowhere to be found on the Redmis & Realmes.
The only gripes are that the battery backup is good but does not live upto its big size, maybe due to bad software optimization. And battery drains alarmingly even when the phone is switched off. Other than this the phone is great for the price I paid.

Don't buy this phone anymore..it is outdated!! I recommend buying the xiaomi mi a3 or the redmi note 8. If you can shell out more cash then buy the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Do you charge your phone and browse at the same time?
Because that will damage its processor and cause wear and tear at the charging port and can affect the battery as well.
However, it's normal for phone to heat up some time when you are surfing the web continuously or when some hungry apps are running in the background. But the heat won't be too high to damage the phone, except you are engaging in the bad phone habits I explained above.

I have the phone since launch and I have no issues with charging whatsoever, I really don't know why people have problems. I charge it every 2 days, it's all fine. I use the charger in a normal way, nothing weird of funky.

Rarecandy, 03 Sep 2020I want to love this phone, but the hardware is the biggest ... moreThe problem with Nokia 7 Plus is the USB-C female port height is actually more than required. Why Nokia did this, is it for aesthetics reason I don't know. Hence the USB male port when connected is not snugly fit with female port in the phone. If I compare it with my Nokia 6.1, there is a plastic rim that runs through the entire circumference of its USB female port and thus male jack fits snugly. Hence the entire weight of the thick USB wire and its load is bore by the entire USB assembly and the frame of the phone leading to proper weight distribution and no USB port issues. Unfortunately in Nokia 7 Plus, the male jack with the wire is actually hanging inside the phone, and its entire weight is bored by the pins that gets inserted inside the male jack when we plug the USB cable. This leads to the pins getting disjointed from the connecting board, the soldered pin joints cannot bear the weight of the entire dangling wire.
This thick USB cable supplied with the phone made the situation even worse. I have been using a very thin and light cable with my Nokia 7 Plus and take extreme care in plugging USB cable to my 7 Plus. Hence till now no issues. It is of no doubt Nokia 7 Plus is one of the all time greats, just that it has one Achilles hill, the USB-C port.

I want to love this phone, but the hardware is the biggest flaw. I thought my USB-C charging port failure experience was unique to me, but it’s very well-documented on the nokia7plus subreddit. I got this phone around the time it was released and never had problems until this year. My charging port failed around the beginning of pandemic shutdown in the US and getting replacement parts was hell. Generic replacement boards with USB-C are poorly made (I resoldered mine today because the port was falling off) and it’s not cost effective to replace this piece every month or two (remove screen, unscrew everything to access the bottom board).
By the way, you’ll probably destroy your screen too when you attempt this or bring it to a shop due to the crap design and way it’s installed... so buy a replacement generic screen too (color will be more like the Nokia 6).
Aside from this major error in design, everything else was great. Manufacturers don’t think about longevity when they pick these parts, just about lasting until warranties expire. I haven’t had any problems with Apple’s lightning port on iPads, but don’t want to overpay for an iPhone.
