argi, 12 Dec 2013atching youtube videos from browser/app is impossible on No... morei can watch youtube videos in my 808 with the default youtube app. With youtube downloader i can download/watch videos nhd or hd if available up to 1080p even if the videos are not supposed to be available in a mobile phones! Lol!
What are you complaining about? Hahah

I remember that i post the answer of your q... moreThanks for the detailed answer, Zaid. :-) The reason I bought the Nokia 808 4 months ago is because of the fact that it delivers such pure images in low resolution and also in full resolution. I saw the comparison of both the cameraphones in all about symbian and it's pretty clear that both the cameraphones (Nokia 808 and Lumia 1020) has their own pros and cons. While Nokia Lumia 1020 is brilliant in Night, Nokia 808 shines in daylight. I appreciate natural colours from Nokia 808 PureView with little to no noise whereas it's a total different story on Lumia 1020. I am currently saving for a yellow or white Lumia 1020 after hearing the rumour that it will get the same algorithms as Nokia 808 and RAW support via the Window Phone 8.1 update. It's going to be interesting to see the next PureView phase 3 which would probably include variable aperture from Nokia N86 8 MP, a legendary phone for its time. The only three advantages Lumia 1020 has against Nokia 808 are manual controls, higher ISO and optical image stabilization. I'm pretty much happy with my Nokia 808 performance and with Symbian's goodness. Is it worth to buy the Lumia 1020 if I already have Nokia 808 or it's worth to wait for PureView Phase 3 which would probably include variable aperture? What do you say about it?

atching youtube videos from browser/app is impossible on Nokia 808, I wish someone had told me that. Camera is great yes. But I can't watch any youtube videos! This is disappointing.

Hi Siva, miss you bro, I didn't get the Lumia 1020 till now and I stick to my lumia 925 till now...lumia 1020 is very expensive till now and I will wait till it gets more cheaper cause I have now money right now beside the Lumia 925 still do very decent job for me with its Nokia cam app ")
sure I'll post any updates about lumia 1020...stay tuned :D

I remember that i post the answer of your question before, but never mind to share it with you again
both phones are coming from 2 different schools and both having its key of powers
1- Nokia 808 pureview belongs to the looks like real life photo school, it uses the minimal post processing and gives you very natural photo and this will results...more pure, natural and clear photo...but it will be a little bit soft and no as sharp as Lumia 1020 photo
2- Nokia Lumia 1020 is a totally different story...it belongs to the school of heavy post processing and bunch colors photo...it produces very bunchy colors photo and over saturated in alot of situations beside its photo is pretty sharp than 808...but you will get more noise, grain, over sharpen, slightly un realistic photo
so the conclusion is...
Nokia 808 is the king over all and you need to know that most of photographers and professional smart phone users always love the realistic photo and natural colors without any post processing cause it gives them the variety and more chances for tuning as much as they want...Im one of those people...Damian Dinning also
But for most users who wants a great camera and will never think of such details and not always ant to edit their photos...Lumia 1020 is the perfect match for them...it is very fun to use...add nice colors to photos, has OIS which is really useful beside tons of modern photo apps...finally Nokia will also relese it camera update for 1020 with nokia black GDR3 and this will apply the old and better algorithms of 808 so there will be more natural colors and less noise beside RAW file support which is totally awesome...so we need to wait and see

JOHNY LONG, 06 Dec 2013 Nokia lumia 1020 is better than 808 cause this ones camera... more1- Nokia 808 PV has 1/1.2" FSI CMOS which is bigger than lumia 1020 1/1.5" BSI CMOS sensor.
2- Nokia 808 PV has ND filter and ISO 50 level to reduce the highlights, Lumia 1020 hasn't.
3- Nokia 808 PV has the biggest focal length ever (8.02 mm) which gives you the best depth of field more than Lumia 1020 (6.6 mm) only...Lumia still bigger than N8 (6.0 mm) and all other phones out there for sure.
4- Nokia 808 has bigger pixel size
-- 38-34 full resolution is 1.4 um like Xperia Z, IPhone 5, S3-4
-- 8 MP pureview mode is 3.07 um (very big for phone)
-- 5 MP pureview mode is 3.91 um (amazing for phone)
-- 2 MP pureview mode is 4.89 um (biggest pixel ever in any smartphone)
This big pixels gives you such pure and clear pictures...so when zooming 100% you will see zero noise (depending on zoom levels also till you reach the max zoom so you will get the real resolution)
5- Nokia 808 Pureview handles over 1 Billion pixel per second during 1080P video recording and that's 16x powerful than any phone ever (read the white paper)
6- Nokia 808 producing it's images at 300 dpi. (amazing for sure, N8 also)

Now coming to lumia 1020...the best smartphone camera out there right now:
1- Lumia 1020 has smaller pixel size 1.12 um due to the smaller sensor size
2- Lumia 1020 producing images in 72 dpi only...another reason for making the pixel smaller than 808 pureview's one ( talked with Juha Alakarhu on twitter about pixel size and he told me that they simulated the 1.4 um but the results was worst than 1.12 um
3- Lumia 1020 has no ND filter.
4- Lumia 1020 has no ISO 50, it starts from 100 and this will results more noise and highlights in the pictures.
5- Juha Alakarhu didn't tell me about the pixel size of the oversampled 5 MP...he just told me that the physical pixel size is 1.12 um, but I think it will be around 2.75 um or something like that, but obvious it will be smaller than Nokia 808's one

But Lumia 1020 also has some advantages over it's older brother the 808 PV :

1- Lumia 1020 have aperture F/ 2.2 bigger than 808 PV F/2.4, and bigger F-stop means bigger depth of field and better light catching
2- Lumia 1020 has the best OIS on any phone, it's the second generation and really it's impressive and awesome and very powerful and accurate more than Lumia 925-928-920
3- Lumia 1020 have Six lenses rather than 5 only for 808 pureview and 4 only for all the Lumias except Lumia 925 (which has six also)
4- Lumia 1020 has better oversampling algorithms so the 5 MP should sharper than 808 (but that doesn't mean better or more details)
5- Lumia has faster shutter speed till 1/16000 faster than 808 PV which has shutter speed around 1/ 5000 - 6000 and the pictures is almost totally dark.
6- Lumia 1020 has Rich audio recording and two mics. like 808 PV...808 is stronger cause it can do like 320 mb bitrate/s CD quality beside WP OS still has mono only for video recording...(read the white paper of 808)
7- Lumia has mechanical shutter like 808 PV and N8 and that's help the Xenon flash and fast mode photos.
So as you see both have amazing technology and Nokia only one can do that
but The final conclusion:

-Nokia 808 is better in terms of clarity and pure photos with almost no noise...it has more zoom with 2MP PV mode up to 3.6 zoom so: day light photos, portraits, landscapes, night photos it will be more clear and producing more amount of details however it's not as sharp as Lumia 1020 due to it's 6 lenses and it's new algorithms.
- Lumia 1020 will be better in low light, indoors, night portraits and Night photos, cause of the awesome OIS 2nd generation which gives the Lumia 1020 extra points here, however it lacks very important option like ISO 50 level which help us alot as smartphone photographer to control the noise on the low light situations
(Nokia 808 pureview will be better in low light in terms of quality and clarity with details but it will need tripod, cause it will be very shaky at night and produce very shaked photos) but you know, not every one will carry or use tripod when going to club or taking quick night photos
- Lumia 1020 will be better also at videos cause they will be very sharp and stable due to OIS 2nd generation.

Ohh...btw I'm saving right now to pick up one hot yellow Lumia 1020 ;)

As for the camera. 808 has a way better sensor then 1020. software is better. The user app is weaker but that's about it;). Overall i give 10 to 808 9 to 1020.
