Anonymous, 19 Jul 2013You are so right about the hardware thing. It really paine... moreYeah, but i think the things are much more complicated. Nokia had all it's factories in Europe. And the last best seller Symbian (the N8), as far as i know, is made only in Finland. Allot of money are invested in that little device (i don't think that Finland workers were paid with 100 euros). I can safely say that one N8 production costs 3 times more then iPhone 5, and 4 times more then sgh s4. Nokia needed a well optimized system for a not so very expensive hardware. Nokia could put dual core in n8 and 1gb RAM, but i would like to see that guy that pays maybe more then 1000 euros for a mobile phone:). Even Symbian is a quite expansive system to develop. Nokia has been hit quite hard by the hundreds of crap cumming like a Flood from China, they stood no chance with Symbian and all their expensive devices in front of mass flood of so called smartphones. So, this is my two cent opinion about why the mighty N8 does not have more powerful hardware. Still, Nokia could use Symbian now, after the moving to China is over and they start to take ground again. Maybe later we will see it, if Nokia recovers from serious loses. From not selling devices to expensive manufacturing, to moving to China. Just imagine how many punches Nokia took and it's still standing....

AnonD-77434, 19 Jul 2013Wow Carol, what a post!!! I just got the surprise chill ... moreActually, wp has animations, the whole UI is made from animations and it's still bloody smooth:). I give this credit to Microsoft. They proved they are still competitive when comes to optimize an OS. Still, they aimed more for the IOS users type, instead of Symbian users. After all, from the beginning wasn't about Nokia, was about a new OS to take over the smartphone market. They now, realized that what Steve Jobs (R.I.P) did, with his mouth, apple cannot continue. So it wasn't about a locked, more secure OS. In fact, was about selling! Manipulating people to buy and to think they need what they are buying. Convincing them that one product is better then them all. Microsoft wanted a healthy community growing just like the IOS one, hmmm... Even though, i consider wp way better then ios (even desktops OS's: windows 7 and windows 8 are more greater then any Macintosh), Microsoft took the bull by it's horns releasing a very odd UI into a locked system. This kind of slammed the door for both already occupied camps (by IOS, symbian and android). IOS users are lazy, not willing to learn and to know why (they just want a phone to work on what they want to do) and that is why IOS was released, but wp is plain strange for them, locked enough to be secured, but strange enough to be disliked. The other camp want's to "crack" into the phones core having no real chance doing that with wp(we are letting the kids and simple users camps out, though are bigger then them all, are controlled through social manipulation by the first 2 camps), so therefore comes a rejection of the product. Wp will go higher in time. Now i just love those icons and style. I'm just tired of sparkling icons. I never liked them and always looked to have a mat theme in my symbian. Never found it. So, a real copy of the new wp8 UI for a symbian theme, will be more then welcome by me:). And this is just the beginning. If you understand what i mean. MS just needs more work on the system cause the UI is starting to take life. BIg time:). As for buying the lumia 1020, i don't like Vodafone, they are not good. Also, there is a complicated thing i also don't like this days which i will probably explain to you some other time. (if you want to know, is not that interesting):))

It really pained me that Nokia just sat and trust their fans/supporters to be stupid and not check out what the competition has to offer. People (including I) started leaving Nokia(symbian) when android came with a nicer interface and better hardware. When Galaxy S was using 1GHz CPU and felt faster that a symbian phone at 416MhZ (mot sure if that is exact) and 128MB RAM **cough** N97, 5800; Nokia did not even budge and try to improve their hardware, they did not want to reduce their profit by using better hardware. People noticed the responsivenesss of other OS and started to abandon nokia. Even though Symbian UI was old, I think if they had improved their hardware at that time, they would have still been competitive.

Symbian's(and Nokia) woes was a very avoidable and unnecessary occurence.

Carol, 19 Jul 2013Yeah, this is a very good study. I always said that no mobi... moreWow Carol, what a post!!!

I just got the surprise chill when you said that people saw your mobile as it's the first Symbian to act good and fully customizable, shame on you Nokia killing this software!!

                                    - Also agree with you about that Symbian was limited by hardware and even it is very powerful comparing to other OS's

Example: Xperia Z with it's quad core processor and 2 gigs of ram and Adreno 320 with Exmor RS Sensor...N8 blow it of the water in terms of image quality and processing...Nokia N8 is producing 300 dpi images too!!!!!! and this is one reason of why it's better than Xperia Z and Xperia S with it's 12 MP in terms of imaging...beside the sensor size, big pixels and optics

Windows phone can't handle such imaging power despite it's bloody smooth in every thing more than Symbian, but I called it fake user experience!!!

The UI doesn't have any animations or graphics like android and Symbian...but coming to gaming and imaging...WP OS is horrible...you gonna believe me

All android devices with the same spec: S4 krait chipset and adreno 225 with 1 gig of ram preforms way better in gaming and imaging despite it may lag at daily uses, Symbian on 808 pureview for Example can run fruit ninja like a boss in 35 to 45 frames, while Lumia 800 and 920 and above with better chipset run it like a movie on 20-23 frames....very bad experience

and about my opinion Carol: WP OS is beautiful and unique...but truth that it will never catch up with android!!!

cause of one word: (((OPEN SOURCE)))...and that's the secret word behind Symbian emperor which can do every thing...Zip, download from browser, torrents support, office, file manager, all videos format support, all sharing features...modifying and custom Roms...like small PC

Android Now despite it's disadvantages, but I consider it the now days SYMBIAN cause it can do almost every thing....however it's not like it in imaging...Symbian is a king really and that's very mysterious thing despite it's poor specs...powerhouse really specially for cameras...smashing any other OS's

Android is very successful cause it copied every thing Symbian did and do and updated it to make it better and more modern....While WP OS is very limited...512 doesn't support a lot off apps and games, unlike android which is source hungry, imagine ??

Nokia Now is the only Company who push WP further and further and they bring a golden innovation to it more than any company ever...Hope they will be no. one again cause I can't imagine my phone without their logo :D

Thanks dear carol for you amazing reply and sharing with me all that...happy you loved my post also, appreciated "P

cheers and have an amazing day ^-^
