I really can't understand why anyone would buy this unit. It's a fashion phone that happens to be well not very fashionable!lg prada destroys this nokia in the style department.

Trust me, DON'T BUY this phone, except if you really can't resist the look or the build quality!

Even the original 8800 or sirocco is better as a phone! 8800 design does give a very balance feel when you press the keypads because they are right in the middle(8600 keypad is off to the lower side). Try it for yourself!

Both 8800 & 8600 have pretty weak signal/reception when compare to any other phone you care to name(whatever the price).

From memory, I did not encounter heat up in any of my previousely owned 8800 or sirocco, but severe heat up with the 8600(only need 15 mins. continues conversations to find out).

Yes, every single function should have improved over the 8800 line up......but I personally do not found this to be all true!!! Improvement like a better & bigger screen is welcome. Camera of 2MP is nothing; and there is no auto focus......there's cheaper phones out there that gives better quality camera! I'm only talking about the basic function of a phone; as a phone. The battery life is still very short & the 8600 took more than 1 & a half hour to fully charge as compare to approx. 1hr for the 8800.

I really can't think of anything special about the 8600 to recommand to anyone. 8600 is not even as nice to hold as the 8800 when using for conversation(got to try it yourself). The volume control key is situated way too high at the upper edge. The owners manual mentioned that the atenna was built into the bottom part of the phone; and so recommand not to hold that part of the phone. In reality, imagine how awkward it is to the top 2/3 of the phone during conversations!!!(You can talk without the phone sliding open, but then it will be more difficult to hold since you are not supposed to hold/block the bottom 1/3).

By the way, according to callers at the other end, background noise supression is not designed/built into this phone.

Handsfree speaker phone is top quality and still one of the best.

If anyone can't resist the look of this phone, like I did, then go ahead & buy it.
If you want good build quality, this phone does provide(except if you can afford a Vertu phone which is in a totally different class of quality).

One thing I am still not sure is why the Vertu phones(also made by Nokia) have much stronger reception than the 8 series Nokia phones & any other phones that I have tried/own?!

The major market for this phone should be the Artic/Siberia.....it can keep the user warm when the phone heat up during conversation.

That phone for serious men, but not for child. With out any futures for device edict. I recommend every one who need solid phone.

There is no astonishment, the luna is cheaper than 8800. It has only plastic-display and no desk-stand....

I had this phone a while ago & it's quite bad, or I would not have sold it!!!

For about the same price, I prefer my LG PRADA phone which I'm still keeping(a lot more better overall than the 8600). The PRADA phone is much more entertaining, much louder & better quality sound(maybe except the handsfree speaker phone), much stronger signal, a longer standby & talk time, a bigger screen(easier to read or see & take photos), better quality photo & video, and most importantly, it does not heat up badly like the 8600(although it does heat up slighty too). just for reference, Motorola phones like K1/K3/A1200 do not heat up at all even after 2 hours omore of continues conversation.

The solid feeling of any 8 series Nokia phones is because they are made from metal & hence a heavy; solid feel. If the PRADA phone is made of metal, it would feel the same too ... but then it will be a lot heavier.
Well, I would say that both phones build quality are on a par.
