My first "dummy" 8800 worked some hours during a day only, the phone was switching off by itself when receiving a call, it merely ringed once and died completely, the loudspeaker during a call also sounded unclear, etc.
The second 8800 "dummy" replaced doesn't work at all !
Surely i won't buy a mobile phone from Nokia again.

The latest 8800 firmware is 3.78 from last October. Although some bugs are fixed others remain (the phone still crashes, the voice clarity is still low, etc).
The new firmware 3.78 in reality doesn't solve the major problems of this phone.
Nokia produced a faulty, joke phone and that is Nokia 8800.

Latest firmware is V3.78. had the phone for about 3 weeks now. no hassle whatsoever, very nice, sleek and stable. never switched off by itself even though i tried all the functions stated in this review. battery wise, could stay up to 48 hrs with occasional phone calls. i.e. about 10 calls with 10 mins each.
absolutely flawless.. wonderful phone from nokia except for non expandable memory, but who needs a phone to be a storage device?

Got the phone late last year, and really think its soo fantastic, its never gone off itself, have no problems with the battery, and do i really need to mention the oohs and aahs when i pull it out? Couldnt believe all the complaints i read. Thanx Nokia for this fantastic creation

Different phones incorporate different ideas. If you like feature-filled phones, then you should choose ,maybe, pda-phones or phones like SE's. This phone's main idea is design and material etc. It would be unfair to say that it's a lousy phone just because it doesn't suit you only.

The Only advantage is that when i hold it out in a party or gathering to make a call or listen I get a lot of ATTENTION . Because the phone design is really very exclusive and Stylish . but still i will sale it soon

                                        Their won't be a nokia 8800i
If you read the story booklet very closely, it describes that this phone will be a collector's item. You can see the signs ... it got full options in the box, it is low in stock and no other 8-series was that emotionally described/promoted

That's why the nokia 8800 will be the last exclusive nokia 8XXX series under their name. The next generation with special covers will appear under the 7-series. The exclusive business 8-series will be transferred to the Vertu brand, because of the future price-tag (+ 1000 euro) and the target-group which can afford AND APPRECIATE it. If the nokia 8800 was a low entry Vertu of 1500 euro's, it would be a best-seller!
