I just gave the phone to carphone warehouse and they upgraded my software for free. and since the random shutting of has stopped. its much better now. i guess software improvement is done free of charge by any nokia care center

As far as i know Nokia has already prepared a renewed version of 8800. The new Nokia 8800i will be different from the original device in colour, a 1.23 MP camera, stereo output and the presence of a memory card most probably microSD.As for the battery capacity which is a significant issue in every phone will increase slightly, which will keep the same battery life approximately as on 8800.This product may be expected a year after the Nokia 8800 sales started.
The above information depend on rumors but most likely to be real.
Considering the prevoius Nokia 8910i model which was an upgrade to 8910, 8910i had nothing better to give.
As an owner of both,i found 8910i be just a marketing trick for only sales profit increase purposes.
Keeping in mind that Nokia 8800 as i stated in my previous posts has very poor performance even inexistent,keypad isn't completely ergonomic,very short battery life,etc-etc,i believe that the renewed version of 8800 won't be better.
Offering many and new features without a quality won't be helpful.
So ,buyers thinking of buying Nokia 8800 series beware

Well I asked in one of mobile phone retailer in London and he said, yes this phone really has battery problem and its rediculas, I wont buy till any next updated edition comes out in 88xx series

has a better battery but will you actually go use it on your $1000 dollar phone when that battery is not even manufactured from the same company as your phone for all we know it can fucttttt the phone up which i doubt to try

Famous Japan composer made a melodies for it. Platform is made from titan. Kind of small, when u holding it. Cost like old car - unreal.

does lack a lot of features.good manufacturing and astonishing materials don't realy pay that much.Why is it so expensive?it does look great but that's it.PERIOD.

Of course there not going be another kind of battery more powerful then this for this phone cause its like having a fork(stainless steel) in a microwave......

No, its not Symbian and the same software is available on 6230i
