Since six months we use two of these phones. Maximum conversation time is 25min, at 50% battery capacity it turns off just of a sudden. Any attempt, to get NOKIA awake and change the phone to another equal one, failed, a north german most arrogant "customer support manager", based in Vienna told me, it is just normal, that the phone might work for only 25minutes, the manufacturer informations just tell, that the conversation time is "up to" 1.5hours.
This company does have a size at the moment, where sicilian methods seem to be common way to deal with disappointed customers.

You don't need anything. All they ask is pretty much standard. Just go to nokia.com and customer service phone number is there.

Hi Ppl
I have the firmware version of 3.28 and i believe that its really old. I dont have any problems at all except yesterday, it switchs off by itself, only once. Im currently staying in Canada and was wondering if i could get the update of latest firmware if i bought the phone in UK? Can i just ask Nokia Canada to fix it? Do we have to show our proof of purchase of the phone? Thx for the help..

I called Nokia customer service and they ask me some info and they send me the replacement phone the next day. You get back your old phone but they will either give you a new one or refub.

Hi, i think this random switching off prblem is mainly associated with many vodaphone 8800's. Iv seen several o2 8800's and they work fine. Do u think if we flash the phone it will be ok? how much does it cost to flash a 8800 in uk?

Also to sam8800:
Ha ha ha!! You don't need to try and justify why you have wasted loads of money on this phone and we have had the sense not to!
Good products on the otherhand are worth every penny.

First of all, we all know that the battery have a very short life. I mean you could buy a better battery that carries double the capacity like it did. I already put away the 2 battery that came with my phone.
I already had this phone for about a month now and never gave a problem since I upgraded the firmware.

Great phone, true class.
I've had it for a month now and it works fine. All the bad comments about this phone are from people who CANNOT afford this sexy sleek device!
It's like when you can't pull a gorgeous babe in a club and you start convincing yourself that she wasn't good enough anyway and that she must be a lesbian not to give you her number!
Bottom line, great phone that truely has a short battery life, but then it wasn't designed for using it for long calls in some train or tube!

The phone looks great and has a nice design, but that's about where it stops. The performance of the phone is very bad, especially the battery life. The talk time of this phone is about 2 hours. However, in poorer signal areas it's much less. Also the battery indicator is completely useless. You can go from full battery to half and then to nothing. You get not warning about low battery. The phone will show half battery left, but try to make a call, as soon as you connect, the phone will switch off. This phone is not recommended for heavy users. I use it for business and it not reliable at all.

The new firmware 3.78 somehow is better but in reality doesn't solve the major problems of this phone.
Nokia produced a faulty, joke phone and that is Nokia 8800.
