I bought the phone on impulse as it looks great! But the phone gave me mixed feelings. First, the pros : Cool "feel good" phone, great sliding mechanism that autolocks keypad, nice scratch-proof display, classy. However, the cons are: terrible battery lifespan - must change battery within a day (talktime around one hour?), high radiation? (gave me headache when I use it),the default alarm is very soft, the phone volume is soft unless u place it at the correct position on your ear, hard to press keypad especially the lower keys, not as user friendly as other nokia fones (eg.when u delete an sms u need to hit the left function button then the centre button then back to the left function button..other nokia models allow left function button repeated-press delete which is much quicker) and the high cost. In the end I sold the phone as battery lifespan is very important to me especially when travelling overseas. Consider your needs and preferences carefully before buying the phone. If you are vain and want a very classy show-off feel good phone that is soso on practicality, then get it. But if u are a practical person who likes the usual nokia user friendlyness, do not get the 8800.

I have been using this phone for about a month now....the price is high but hey...there r only a few of these bad boys floating around...so I'm don't mind standing out of the crowd....

The bad things about this phone is constantly wiping off your finger prints off the phone. The buttons are small so it's hard to dial while you're driving. Besides that I don't have any other problems so far!

The good thing about this phone is the weight. I like to have a phone that feels like it's there in my pocket and the size is perfect for me to hold. If you like the look then this phone is it for you. I'm not a nerd that whines about memory and all that junk stuff. People keep forgetting to go back to the basic of what a cell phone does best: call people! I don't care about the camera nor mp3's or all that stuff. So overall it's a good phone. Pricey but hey...there are people who buy ferrari's and people buy toyota's. Different strokes for different folks!

i feel shortchanged. I bought mine 3 days ago, today it hung for 15 minutes after i sent an MMS. Turned dead right after. Doesnt function anymore after that. Dealer here in the Phils confirms there is a problem. So sad, cant believe this is happening to a Nokia. I might have paid a high price for it but realizations from the experience is far more valuable. Never again!

i liked this phone till i seen it in the flesh. its to big, by big i mean in length, compared to the 8910 which was very sleek. it isnt worth the money for the lack of features, im no penny pincher, ive owned a lot of expensive phones but the expense should reflect the functions. if the only thing yur worried about is how you look with a phone then you deserve the crap functions and i hope you and this phone are very happy together.

i have had one of these little bad boys for a month or so now, after upgrading from the 8910i which i had for a couple of years. i can honestly say that i am fully happy with it, yes it has very minor drawbacks like the limited battery life but that is far outweighed by the facts that the handset comes with 2 batteries, and the overall presentation of the handset.

i have worked in the telecoms arena for 4 years now and used to sell mobiles for 2 of those so i do know what i am talking about. yes, the price of this handset is high but if you dont want to pay that then you dont have to. the high price should hopefully mean that less people have these, face it everyone has a phone these days and you dont really want some spotty little schoolkid with the same stuff as you do you?
people who moan that these models are too expensive are normally people who dont like splashing out that extra bit of momey on anything in life, not just phones. I'm not saying that phones are the be all and end all of life, far from it, it just annoys me when people moan about things they either dont understand or cant afford. i cant afford a ferrari but i dont moan about it!

I believe if the battery last b/w 2-3 hours then its very much pretty. I'm talkin' abt battery talkin' time NOT standby time.

                        John,

I can honestly tell you that all 8800 have problem either one way or the other!!! It doesn't matter where it's MADE.......it's the problem with the firmware of this model.

I gave up after I brought a total of 6 (one after another) of them in the past months; believing that I might find one without problem.......BUT I was totally wrong!

Last but not least, Nokia technician cannot even fix the problem you mentioned below!!!

PS. I even over heard a Nokia N70 customer/owner complaining about the many problems with his Nokia phone when I was purchasing my new Motorola PEBL U6 at my servise provider.

I was thinking of buying this phone but not anymore.Surely Nokia 8800 is a status phone but this doesn't help. Also Nokia 8910 is a status phone but at least is a reliable phone and is worth it's money.I am an owner of 8910 for the last 2 years and since now i am very pleased with it.I have used different phones but i find 8910 be an amazing and unique phone even if it doesn't have so many features as others and most of all is a reliable phone. In my opinion i believe that the best phone ever created by Nokia is Nokia 8910 in terms of design and performance.
