i work in a phone shop and i have never had so many customers that have had so many problems with the one phone especially one that is so expensive and is suppose to be the best thing since sliced bread, i have one customer that i've sent thier phone away 4 times and they are back instore in two days later with another problem an this phone has been replaced everytime but 1 so the phone pretty much sucks my 6101 goes harder than it. never get this phone if you want it to work, cause all it'll ever do is look good.

Coffee first of all you are right its a cell phone NOT a digital camera NOR an MP3 player too, well I'm reading the posting everyday very regularly but I'm giving people time to make some mess around so then I can make them clear about their mistakes. I hope Kaz is also with us somewhere and keeping an eye on us!

I don't need great casing but I need its features... if only this phone has at least 1.3MP, I should buy this one...

I got 8800 on 13-8-2005 after a wait of 3 weeks, from Hyderabad. It's cute and sleek. You feel the punch when you hold it.
The CONs:
1) So far it has hanged for 10 times especially in CAM mode. But automatically
re-starts. To avoid, u need to operate it slowly.
2) Don't judge the size of phone by seeing the images on web, the actual size is very small and the key-pad is very tiny.
3) Some times less sound clarity during calls.
4) Small display.
5) No add-on memory.
6) No selectable back light duration.
7) Less battery life.
8) Settings are getting RE-SETTED once u switch off, especially in Go-To menu.
9) Even though it is a latest model it cannot read SMS with operator logo.
10) This has no USB and u need to have Blue-tooth on your PC for data transmission.
11) Image quality deteriorates if you edit it in the image editor.
12) When u shut it, it asks for "lock key pad?"!!!!which is funny!!!, (when u shut it u can not use the key-pad.)
13)I could not find how to use voice dialing in this. Can somebody help me in this?
14) Same features are available in Nokia 6230i also, but price is 1/3 only.
The PROs
1) Because of the steel body u would love to hold it in your hand.
2) Comes with additional battery and both phone and extra battery can be charged simultaneously through the table top charger.
3) Excellent image quality even in zoom.
It eats-up the memory if u store the music in mp3 format. Convert the music in to amr format and store all your favorites.
Whatever it is, 8800 is different and it makes u distinct.

Kire...
you answered your own question, you buy this phone if you want to stand out from everyone else, call me shallow but, I personally enjoy sitting at a table having a coffee with friends knowing that my 8800 is the only 1 amongst a table full of V3's D600's, etc etc. But that was my choice, whether I bought it or not, and yes it less features than the V3, but for me it's a Phone, not a PDA and thats all I need.

this elegant phone is a topnotch when it comes to design but geezzzz.. the price... not good enough... why do we have to buy a thousand bucks when we can buy more cheap and more features than this one? but well, if you want to impress others? well, you can have this for fame....

Nokia 8890 and 8810 (predecessors to this one) are almost 10 years old now and they still cost about 200$ so this one going under the 500$ mark wont happen for another 4-5 years
