I just got this phone, not for myself, but my better half.

First off, let me say I have had the Nokia 9500 for little over half a year now and covers all my needs (going from an xda - windows mobile). It truly lives up to its name - as a communicator.

Second, I would never buy a nokia 8800 for myself. It really has a lot of shortcommings. Playing around with it for a few days now leads me to conclude:

                        Cons:
                        1) Crappy cramped keypad, especially considering menu (center key) and function keys (the 2 accessible from the outside when phone is closed)

If you send a lot of sms'es consider NOT GETTING THIS PHONE - reminds me of how the seimens sx1 (yea, had that one too) keypad-layout was just too much, for too little.

                        2) Poor battery life - Unbeleavable. Sure, did get two batteries in the box, yet, why-o-why has nokia made such a mistake. (They should not have included such - surely nice - high res. screen i think).

                        3) All the rest such as:
                        - Bad camera
                        - No memory card
                        - No infrared (no sync cable)
                        - price (do you get what you pay for?)
                        - 140 grams - although you get a sense of "quality build" , but still

I WOULD GO CRAZY. Anyway, I consider myself lucky with the 9500... same weight, makes me wonder how much technology really weighs in at ;-)))

I still should mention some PROS, just for sake of fairness:

                        1) Design

                        and...

                        well, thats it...

but for some people that works too, I guess :-)

                        Just my 2 cents worth,

                        Regards,
                        Gnuig, Copenhagen, Denmark

I'am considering buying this phone. Have anyone experience with using this phone in a new audi a6 with the bluetooth phone build in the audi. There is now adapterset available yet.

Hope to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

By the way, i love the design and the feel of the 8800. The features are not so important to mee. Build quality, looks and image are.

NOKIA 8800 is our best seller from the expensive mobiles in Soundtech Cyprus. For those of us, who started with Nokia 8810, 8850, 8910 of course we will end up to the Nokia 8800 independent of price.

People who like the design, they may NOT think as they make decision with the HEART!! You can buy 3 Motorola V3 instead of 1 NOKIA 8800. Does it worth the money? For us who like NOKIA design YES!!

As we sold more than 200 NOKIA 8800 in Cyprus, we know that they had MANY SOFTWARE problems initially. A few of those VERY frustrating due to the re-starts but you do NOT buy a Ferrari and expect it to behave like a TOYOTA Supra!!

Its not worth the money, there are alot better phones on the market than this for very many reasons. If you want a shiny metal box though fine! Take the high tariff deal you'll need to get one.

                                  "Excellent, it's really a phone.
Why do you look for a phone with camera which is 2M max on the market? A Sony Cybershot 5M is still small.
Why do you look for music phone? A PM3 player 512Mb is still too small.
If you can pay for this phone. It is your CLASS in thousands of other phones."

I loooooove the design, but the functions disappoint me, and its way too expensive!

                                      don't buy this phone!
Thje battery life sucks, the software sucks (sometimes the phone just turn off when he wants to), its very expensive, and also hard to get.

We sell phones for a living, and this is by the far the most dissapointing waste of time! functually the phone is really poor, but yea it looks pretty, speaking for myself id hate to have a phone that did nothing, thats why i have the SE K750i. The 8800 is a lawnmower engine in an elise shell! I would definatly not recommend this highly expensive phone as it would be a complete waste of money. Incase you havent realised, im not a fan.
