Anyone can buy this 8800 phone in Thailand without any need to wait, for ONLY 27,000 Thai Baht; which equate to exactly US$660.!!!

PS. also included in the 8800 package is a
      Nokia bluetooth.

        Hey guys,

I've just got off the phone to my accessory guy and he has designed the most spectacular carrying pouch for my 8800, its made of leather from the hide of selected cows from Germany. Has high Quality stitching and has a 1/2 carat of diamonds that spell out 8 8 0 0 on the front. Frank is a legend guys!! It may have cost me $400 but i think as a lifestyle choice its worth it..

i've uploaded a pic of me with my 8800 at this address, check it out guys!!

As far as I can see, you can't assign different ringtones for different people messaging you, only for different types of messages, i.e sms / mms etc.
(Though I may be proved wrong)

                  ------
I own this phone and i find it HILARIOUS how these fools are going around moaning about the phone. ill be honest i got it free as an upgrade with o2. but i have held and explored alot of the recent phones before deciding what to upgrade to as i was given an opportunity to upgrade to any phone due to the amount of money i spent on my phone bill.

this phone is beautiful, it also grows on you because you start to see tiny little features that you just wish were in other phones it kicked my 7610 & D500 out of the water and the style was amazing i couldnt stop cleaning it! its made to be a timeless masterpiece, think only when these handsets drop in value and are discontinued because of the scare of price, then will it become another classic.

its the best phone ive ever owned or used in a shop recently! its heavy solid and the glass is scratchproof! its quite small and honestly feels like something thats beyond a phone

also, can i just add that i dont care whether a phone has a fuckin megapixel camera in it to be honest.. i have a canon SLR! i use this phone to call and it captures small quick spur of the moment snapshots fine! in 800 x 600 on my pc and the quality of the colour and shot is alot more than you expect seriously!

so burn in babylon to the jankrows on here that say this phone is rubbish and overpriced! stop crying because its out of your reach!

I am using this phone and it's wow! it's very chic and hold like a charm in my hands. But I will guess for people with big fingers you might not like the small keys or you will need to use yours nails. Over all it the best looking high end phone on the market...Nokia is just the best!

O'l right, I'll try to make it easy in comparison to caller groups, as we assign a ring tone for caller group (e.g. friends, family etc). Here is my question now, can I do like this for SMS, like if I get an SMS from you and you are in my Friends group, am I able to get a different tone from you when you SMS me? And can I get different tone when my Father SMS and he is in my Family group, It’s like assigning SMS tones to different callers groups. I hope I’m not confusing you. Cheers!

Kaz! I just totally agree with you. Thats rite. At first, i was in dilemma to. Whether to pick all features phone or best design ever. Im so confused what to choose but after long thinking that maybe this beatifully design phone is not so good at all but i bought it because this phone is so sexy and all! And now, im not disappointed at all! Its actually perfect, just love it so much!

                            To Cme

To assign ringtones to different ppl we have to create groups which suppose to be in the menu --> contacts --> and groups. Then create groups with different ringtones then you have to assign ur friend into these different groups, hope that'll help..

                              Hey C-me, how are you?

What do you mean exactly by assigning a tone for sms group?

I have a different tone for sms messages
a different tone for Mms messages
then diff tones for Ringing and caller groups (i.e friends)Though I don't think I really understood your question :/

I'm very much agree with Kaz as he described the camera features coz I believe as I've iPod nano for music so I don't need memory card in 8800, as I've DSC-F828 for pic so I don't need high resolution camera in 8800.
Kaz could you tell me plz if I can assign different ring/tone for SMS groups as we are able to do it with caller groups?

At the end of the day it all boils down to just one thing... "CHOICE"

Do you have to buy the 8800? No..

Are there cheaper phones with more features? Yes..

Knowing that this phone has certain faults, would you still consider buying it? Yes/No/Maybe...

See... it's about Choice and what you choose to buy or not buy as the case maybe. I chose to buy the 8800 and i'm glad I did as i'm very happy with it and was willing to part with my cash knowing that there are possible faults. Nokia probably realise that with or without faults people still buy it. So I guess people like me are to blame, as we accept that things may or not always work how we want them to, but buy them nonetheless

This looks really sleek and nice, is made of expensive titanium etc etc....but at the end of the day, Nokia seem to be relying on that to carry a phone where the features really aren't that special compared to a lot of other phones out there. Every Nokia I've ever had has had faults with it - turning itself off when you try to do certain things, rejecting the SIM card for no reason at all, battery life becoming really rubbish when you've had the phone coming up for a year. I'll be sticking with a nice reliable Sony Ericsson instead of spending money on what is, after all, a bog standard Nokia in a nice case.

I know what you mean about the 8800's ringtones, they are ummmm a bit much, so I just downloaded songs onto mine, and chose different ones for Ringing/Group Caller/Sms.

It's probably best to look for a normal ringtone online, and then send it to your phone via Bluetooth, or if you know someone with a different model Nokia, they usually have normal ringtones, ask them to send it to you by Bluetooth
