Robin
Its not a problem with your handset its a problem with them all, we know have to advice the customer of this fault and that is why you won't find it in a t-mobile shop cos they don't sell crap.

Sorry i've no idea re: price of 8800 in Italy,best thing is to maybe type "buy nokia 8800 in Italy" in yahoo/google....etc. Are you looking just for the phone itself? or are you looking to buy the phone with a contract (monthly phone bill) ??

Hey Robin
If you are only getting 15mins talktime before your battery dies, I seriously suggest you take the phone back to the shop and get them to check it, or have you tried using the second battery to see how much talktime you get from that battery, as you may have a prob with the battery, or you could have a prob with the connectors, so it wouldn't be holding the charge (i.e drains almost immediatly) Whichever the possiblity, it sounds like you have a serious fault on your phone... so Take it back and ask for a new one, as it's under guarantee.

Not Good
I got 8800 a month b4 for AUD 1450. its not worth more then $ 300 for the feature. the only good thing is looks but u have to keep it cleaning whenever u touch it. and the worst thing is its battery. manufacturer says it's standby is 200 hrs but it hardly goes 36 hrs after one full recharge with original batteries and with only 15 mins of talk time in 36 hrs.

Ty, you are the most annoying person on this thread. Everybody is sick of hearing how you've bought the latest gadget or car or whatever. No one cares. All you ever do is brag about what your latest purchase is. And the only reason you buy expensive phones according to you is to look important or to feel exclusive. You judge phones on how they make people feel about you, and use them as conversation starters with 'attractive nurses'. If you need a phone to define yourself, then you are missing something way bigger. When you have to have the latest 'in' thing, you are desperately seeking approval from people who you want to be. You didn't buy the 8800 because of the phone, you bought it because you wanted to show off your wealth and 'social status'. I have no problem with you being rich, i do find it annoying that you have to constantly and smugly remind the forum that you are. I work in retail mobile phone store, own a Nokia 6610i and drive a second hand Mitsubishi Magna. I have a long term girlfriend who i love more than anything. And to us, money means something and has value, we don't shower each other with gifts, we keep it as something special. I have an abundance of friends as, unlike you, i don't discriminate against other classes. I'm sure you'd die a little bit inside if your daughter came home with a blue collared worker. I am happy with my status and don't feel the need to have the latest phone, car or other fad to be accepted in the world. I am accepted for who i am, not who i try to be.
In the phone industry we have a term for people like you, fish. All we do is put out the bait and reel you in.
And i look forward to seeing your daugher becoming the next Paris Hilton, only with less money. Never mind Ty, keep 'striving' to provide her with everything she needs so that she never learns the value of work or money.

The biggest problem I have with this phone with this phone is the volume level. Even with the volume set at the highest level, it's so difficult to hear and the ringer is very low; making it very difficult to hear. I even updated the firmware recently and it's virtually impossible to hear.

To find out where your nokia phone was made look at digits number 7and 8 (YY) of your IMEI.
XXXXXX/YY/ZZZZZZ/A
XXXXXX = Type Appoval Code
ZZZZZZ = serial number
A = check digit
00 = Finland
10 = Finland
20 = Germany
30 = Korea
40 = China
50 = Brazil, USA, Finland
60 = HK, China, Mexico
70 = Finland
80 = Hungary
91 = Finland
There are more, but no idea what they are
(P.s all this info is copied from a different site, just incase someone sees it and starts screaming i stole it.

S'ok I found the code
about the IMEI code by punching in ...
press
*#92702689#
You will also get the actual manufacturing date and some other details..............
My Manufacturing Date is "102005", so I'm presuming 102005 = 10/2005 , as in October (This Month) Maybe they fixed some bugs in the meantime?

If anyone knows the code to access the phone's data it should give the batch no. & date of manufacture, usually i think it is something like *6066* then i could check the settings and report back what they say. Might give some more insight to the prob.

Kaz :
Thankyou for the reply.
I guess it must be problem with the production of 8800 from different countries with different software ! But Nokia customer service told me there is only one version of software world wide for 8800 at the present moment ( not even an up-grade version yet ).......so it really beats me why all the 8800 I have / had owned have the same common software problem !!!

Ty
The Vertu has an magnificent body and expensive materials, nothing else. It does not matter if it costs 6000 Euro. Even though I do not like the 8800 I do believe it is a much better choice than a Vertu. The Vertu is like a car with a Ferrari look and a Lada engine.

What a Metal toy.
I did what you said, and set the settings for caller groups, as I said earlier... Family it rings using the assigned Tone, and other callers uses another Tone.
The boxes are marked (if that makes any difference)

Kaz :
O.K., The quality of the vertu is very good ( maybe because the price is high ). BUT, the price of the 8800 is not cheap either. When you compare the 8800 price to a lot of other phones on sale; it's price is actually quite expensive. BUT, why is each one of these 8800 quality so un-stable?........to me there is NO EXCUSE!!! ( bare in mind this is only a simple phone, not a sophisticated one ).
Why don't you do me ( yourself or other user ) a favour:-
1. Set up one or two "caller groups". e.g. VIP, family etc.
2. Go to "Setting".
3. Go to "tones".
4. Go to "alert for" ( here you can set the caller groups. You can also "Mark" or "Unmark" with an "x".
Pls. revert & let me know if this woke on your 8800.
thankyou & regards,
