Nokia 8800 Sirocco

Upgraded to this Sirocco from my Silver 8800 for 2 weeks now and this is what I think:Better battery life(not a lot)+better camera(to be honest,Samsung camera is better)+more memory(that's be enough for me)+different look housing(some people telling me that it looks a bit wier or asking if I've dropped my phone),really, how you feel about the look of the phone is depend on what sort of mood you're in,good thing about it's drawing a lot of people attention. That's enough about the good side of the phone, now time for my bad expierences:turned itself off twice since had it(same as my old silver 8800)+keep cleaning the housing every hour+no Usb connector port(Nokia should include this important feature on this upgraded model)+the keypad is practical the same as the old 8800(find it hard to text for someone who has big fingers)+a bit over price.
All over all,if you look for something special, look and feel good and only using it to make and receive call(not for texing though)and don't mind paying high price tag than this's the phone for you but again if you're looking for phone with all nowaday gagets and pay a lot less then don't buy this phone(in this case,Samsung is the best candidate,I still keep my D900 for music/camera/etc...it really gives me what i'm missing from the 8800 Sircco). This's only my opinion about this handset, hope it's helped./.

Personally I am upgrading from the Nokia 8800 to the new Sirocco on monday , Battery life on the old one was not to bad despite what you will here You do need to keep spare battery with you just in case , Looking forward to the new one with an all new battery , I normally chnage my handset every 6mths , The nokia 8800 is the best phone I have had in recent years after using all the 89 series Nokias, their definatly a massive improvment , If your just looking for a Basic phone to make and rec calls its Ideal , authough if your a very hevy user using around 1000 mins a month you may stuggle with bat life

someone is right, this side is for people posting their opinions about this phone, postinh opinions doesn't mean we have only tell the good side of the good but the negative side of it as well, doesn't matter if we are going to buy it or not, there's nothing can stop us to post our though about it,we know that there's nothing perfect but there's nothing wrong with pointing out the negative side of the good and hope for the better,it's too bad that someone don't want to face the truth and admit that they've made mistake and getting angry boz other people just said what they don't want to hear,it's not the matter of live or die,we all learn by mistake, last thing I'd like to say is we don't mind pay a lot for the phone but asleast we've got to get what we wanted and the money we spent is wisely.

Why do people complain about the $1000 price tag of this phone when they are not even buying it. These people should go to the Vertu forum and compain there about the $50,000 price tag and the lack of features. These forums are for both positive and negative comments about phones, they are not there for people to complain and whine... if you do not understand this product or any other product it means it is not meant for you... so go to a different page and stop ruining this phones ratings....

Shedi Dills...
you think having lots of tools in your mobile will prove you are a genius...LOL man get a life. I've seen British Gas, SEMIENS electric meter reader carring 9500/9300/E61 BUT I rarely seen any company directors carring these hand sets coz they just dial number and do rest on their computers. I think if you have UNNECCERY tools you can see where you standing

For the love of me, I'd never buy this phone. But thats me. I feel a phone is personality. With no external card and no add-on software, what use is this? Its like being a fat (heavy), rich guy with no brains, no personality. No thanks. I'll hold my 6680 a week longer while I wait for my N80!

well i'm getting my 8800 sirocco today and i'm really looking forward to it. i have a samsung d900 at the moment which is a really nice phone as well but my problem is i get bored of phones very quickly especially functions after a week i just don't bother with them and end up just using my phone for making calls and texting.
So i have chosen the 8800 sirocco because of
the feel and style of it. its like a nice expensive watch it costs alot doesnt do that much but it sure does look good.

Ok, so I already posted my first opinion on this site on the 9th of september after I had owned it for a day. 2 weeks later and my opinion hasn't changed. It is a beautiful phone that draws comments from people wherever I go but that isn't why I bought it. I bought it because it fulfills all of the criteria that I have in a phone and looks amazing as well. For me a phone is a phone. I want to be able to call and text and if there is a camera there it is an added bonus but it will never replace my own digital cam. The nokia 8800se is better than the original because it has a much better battery life, i know because 2 of my friends have owned the original for about 6 months. After that, I like the redesign although it is a shame they didn't keep the gradient on the front of the phone. Otherwise a marked improvement and I will keep this phone for a good long time. People who complain about the weight of the phone i don't think really understand. These nokia phones could've been made to weigh very little but there is something in the weight that gives it a feeling of quality. It is the difference between a fake watch and a real watch. It is in the feel. As far as the materials are concerned, the 8800se has used the metal as it gives a 'high-quality' feel to the phone. After all, this phone is a luxury model and if it doesn't look and feel good, then it hasn't achieved it's status.
Finally if you don't like it because it doesn't have the multitude of features that some phones have, the simple answer is don't buy this phone, but if you like a phone to just be a phone then this is the perfect phone for you... until the Vertu constellation comes out but then you will know how much an expensive phone costs. I'll get back with a comment on the new vertu next week after a special viewing that I have been invited to and will see if it is worth the hype.

@TRZp
There is absolutely nothing exciting in 8800 other than its great construction, look and
feel. Being it in the exclusive catagory it's uncomparable to any brands, That true and agreed.
I've noticed that somehow you are pi$$ed with Samsung and keep bashing, given any chance in any forum. Forget about any other samsung model, but If you are saying E900 is "UGLY", then I MUST say you have a weird sense of taste.
Samsung phones are known to have poor battery life. But this is probably the only "exclusive" Nokia model that beats samsung in battery life. Lol. Oh! sorry I forgot this is "exclusive" phone and anything else can be compromised. True.
Peace

I really like this phone because of its elegance and simplicity. Problem is it cannot be used in Japan, only when I go business trip or holidays outside Japan. I wish there would be a 3G version of this one.

All,
www.gsmarena.com used to be a place where people could chat freely about phones, ask questions and use as a guide to seek advice. But now its turned into a bitching forum which is a complete waste of time. If you have nothing productive to say about this phone, then why not go elsewhere to play your silly little games.
That said…
Battery life.. Whats it like on the new updated 8800 Sirocco?
Software… Any bugs as of yet?
Cheers in advanced.

To 2006-09-19 13:06 PPTL ,
Hard to believe you ever own any Nokia 8800 model at all!!!!!!!!!
You mentioned Samsung E900, which is so damn ugly(like all other Samsung)! NO 8800 owner will ever need compare their phone with another phone.......because it's the best; just like the VERTU, which is also made by Nokia! Samsung is not on the same level, not even close! If you prefer your ugly Samsung, move on to the Samsung page.................................
