The key is 1900, att uses 850 and 1900. If your in att coverage area that uses 850 only you're out of luck...

Hi Guys!
I would like to know something about this phone!
I live in the US.I have AT&T.
officially the network starting from 850-1950 mghz...
Right now I have a Nokia 6100 phone what has only 900,1800,1900.so if I do not have 850 mghz and the 6100 working...the 8890 should work to...? for talking, end SMS-Text..?
I remember,this phone was used in US,too...
thanks for the help!

[deleted post]I'd compare Nokias more or less to BMWs because almost everyone owns them and they are a joy to use, Mercs aren't a joy to drive unless you're in the C63/E63, Brabus or S65 terroitory. Sony Ericsson is Audi, Apple is Porsche, LG is Mercedes (due to the flashy looks and innovation) and Samsung is Lexus.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2009I had this phone a few years ago, lost it, and recently fou... moreHmm...new phones ugly? OK, the new generations of the 8800 series probably don't look as good as this, but there are a heap of new generation phones which are thousands of times better looking than this. Funny thing is, in 2014 you'll be saying that today's phones are going to be much better than they are in the future and reflect on the old days of the Samsung Omnia and Touch HD and IPhone 3G (which will most likely be 4.5G or 5G) by then. A trend on GSMArena comments boards I've noticed is that a lot of folk are cherishing the classics and I don't know wether they're taking the cake to be honest with you.

I had this phone a few years ago, lost it, and recently found another one in good condition for sale on eBay. Quite frankly, I think that this is the best looking and most stylish phone ever made (why are so many new phones so ugly!?!). It's beautiful, well-built and a dream to use. Of course, it lacks all the features that new phones come with these days (camera, mp3 etc.) but for making and receiving calls, it can't be beat.

OMG looking at the specs I wonder why I paid over $1000 back when this phone came out. Maybe same its the same reason why I just spent almost that much on the Xperia X1.

I bought this phone second-hand and had been using it for almost six months. Is it normal that the battery only lasts for 12 hours? I already bought a brand new original battery to use as back-up and yet the phone still stays on for 12 hours. Is that normal, or is the phone using up too much power?

im actualy buying my third one this coming week. i think this phone has the best design ever. its the most practical phone ive ever had. i mean sure technology is nice and everything but its only not fraustrating when the manufacturors perfect it. the 8890 is perfection at the peak of its time frame.
