But well, i never used Gcam after nokia 8 (i also only tested it on nokia 8, 3 years ago and found no real reason to use it), maybe there was a difference after some updates. Anyway, i was talking stock camera. You can also see some comparisons or Pictures quality on youtube

Yes nokia 8.3 has a great camera, updates cycle and battery, and 5g, and clean software. Samsung has it's advantages also, i do not like samsung software, but that is not what everybody thinks. It is your decision, choose by your needs and not by what people say.

But then again, i do not know if there is a difference between note 9 camera software, and let's say, A50. But what i have used (samsung wise) i really saw no great options in it, but as i was saying i never used or tested note camera. Well then we've settle it. Nice talking to you.

Anyone deserves to get what they want if that is what truly they believe in. No need to argue. But as for me, I will choose Note 9 over Nokia 8.3 and I am not biased to Samsung because my current phone is a Nokia.

Regarding the camera, I did not say it is the most important. I am just a mobile/smartphone photographer and I know that the skills and passion are more important. And even if you only use simple or basic gear like smartphone, it is enough in photography intended for hobby/leisure only. Because in a photo, the most important thing to consider is the subject, with its lighting and composition, and what type of device being used is just secondary. I am also aware that the most basic mistake in photography is overemphasizing the camera. What I am trying to say it the Note 9 is better than Nokia 8.3 either in point-and-shoot photography or in tweaking wide array of settings, probably because Samsung has lots of money to hire experts to tune in their camera, while Nokia has only limited employees which I think is also the reason why they settled for Android One so that they will no longer need to hire experts to make their own Android skin. These are just my assumptions and anyone is free to contend.

MR45, 07 Nov 2020Yes, software features are subjective, and if you don'... moreRegard camera, as i was saying, don't judge a device by hmd past two releases, it sounds pretty ignorant if you ask me. No offence.
Anyway, that is exactly the opposite, if someone has no idea of things and how to block, stop and do whatever necessary to make it work the way he/she wants... even better, alltogether that someone is new to this stuff or he/she's just not tech savy, i would refrain from recommanding android. There were two OS's before but now is one left: IOS would be the only choice left to recommand. Expensive but plain simple. That would be the only device that makes sense for a person that just wants to buy it and after 30 minutes use it as if it was an year old. A samsung device would be a NO go. Pure android is better in that regard, you have an app for everything, not 20. Still it is a powerfull OS that can do you wrong if you have no idea what you're doing. There are a lot of people that use android but should never use it, they have absolutly no idea what is behind their internet connection and how bad can that influence their wellbeing, but that's another story. As for you being a photographer, hmmm don't know what to say about that, i have a very good friend that is a photographer, through him i met many others, because of him i like casual photography, none of those i met ever said hardware is the most important, all of them know Photographer is the most important, and yes it is. That guy can take great shots with a 60 years old camera. He always said: one thing, to use a camera that does you good, is to know it's limits and take avantage of them. Saying this being not offensive i doubt you are a professional photographer, a professional one would go for the big guns nokia 9 or something in this regard. Not because of the camera quallity, but because of manipulation capabilities that are quite a lot. Remember, know it's limits, take advantage of them.

Carol, 06 Nov 2020The features are again subjective, i don't need their ... moreYes, software features are subjective, and if you don't need them, it doesn't mean others don't need them too. Someone is asking what phone to choose and judging by that, it appears to be he has limited knowledge about smartphone specs otherwise he would not ask. If someone has limited knowledge, we have to give him a phone that has many features and does not need further tweaking. If someone is knowledgeable enough, we have to give him a phone that he can customize for a more personalized experience.

The same rule applies for camera. If someone does not know how to customize camera settings, give him a phone that does everything and produces vibrant, pleasant photos (Samsung is good in this area). Majority of users prefer bright and saturated photos as can be confirmed by MKBHD blind camera experiments. If someone is a photographer, give him a phone with wide range of settings, and I am sure Nokia is not the best in this regard because my phone is a Nokia and I am a mobile photographer. I only got this phone as a free replacement for Xiaomi Mi Note 3. Though I can produce good photos but it is because of GCam and not because of Nokia's own camera app.

MR45, 06 Nov 2020Regarding the software, Nokia's software is up-to-date... moreThat means that note 9 has better camera than note 20 cause I saw a video in YouTube where 8.3 perform better than note 20. Dxomark chart is always toped by Chinese companys, even Google don't perform better according to them so is not only Nokia, and I really not think someone takes them serious. So 8.3 has better camera, bigger battery, will still get more update and also more beautiful than note 9. My opinion

MR45, 06 Nov 2020Regarding the software, Nokia's software is up-to-date... moreThe features are again subjective, i don't need their features, if i need something i do it via one app or just by enabling developer mode (their are good customisations options there) and that's about it, and i love being able to do it without being disturbed by 3 other not needed customisations... anyway i was not talking about customisations, i was talking about the 2 app-stores, 2 or 3 galleries, 4 cloud apps and oh so many other bloadware that it seams it never stops, with you being only able to disable them, which does not help freeing memory nor stopping their services.
A good photo is actually all about the photographer... the rest comes second place. Hardware is nothing without lens. But yes hardware is important, how do you know 8.3 does not have OiS? Because gsmarena does not talk about it? Have you actually researched or you just believe it? This is also valid for IPS rating, at the end ips rating is just a stample for water resistance, a name, so how do you know it does not have water resistance?
Anyway, by your logic, samsung Photos are really bad, cause they always were bad before AI came a long. They could not lift a candle to what Nokia was doing. Well not that i actually like how Ai processed images turn out to be, they look as fake as it comes, yeah that includes HMD too. But i can understand why the mass likes them. Still does not mean the new camera software integrated in 8.3 is the same as it was at the beginning, don't juge a device because of a past one. And dxo mark? I mean really? Lumia 1020 scored around 80 points and i still can't see a picture in any device this days that is that true to color or true to life, that pratically looks like a proper camera did it. NONE and their AI make it even worse. Give me a shared cloud and i upload you 1020 pictures made by me, and make a comparison with the "great dxo mark" pictures of today.
