Carol, 06 Nov 2020The features are again subjective, i don't need their ... moreYes, software features are subjective, and if you don't need them, it doesn't mean others don't need them too. Someone is asking what phone to choose and judging by that, it appears to be he has limited knowledge about smartphone specs otherwise he would not ask. If someone has limited knowledge, we have to give him a phone that has many features and does not need further tweaking. If someone is knowledgeable enough, we have to give him a phone that he can customize for a more personalized experience.
The same rule applies for camera. If someone does not know how to customize camera settings, give him a phone that does everything and produces vibrant, pleasant photos (Samsung is good in this area). Majority of users prefer bright and saturated photos as can be confirmed by MKBHD blind camera experiments. If someone is a photographer, give him a phone with wide range of settings, and I am sure Nokia is not the best in this regard because my phone is a Nokia and I am a mobile photographer. I only got this phone as a free replacement for Xiaomi Mi Note 3. Though I can produce good photos but it is because of GCam and not because of Nokia's own camera app.

MR45, 06 Nov 2020Regarding the software, Nokia's software is up-to-date... moreThat means that note 9 has better camera than note 20 cause I saw a video in YouTube where 8.3 perform better than note 20. Dxomark chart is always toped by Chinese companys, even Google don't perform better according to them so is not only Nokia, and I really not think someone takes them serious. So 8.3 has better camera, bigger battery, will still get more update and also more beautiful than note 9. My opinion

MR45, 06 Nov 2020Regarding the software, Nokia's software is up-to-date... moreThe features are again subjective, i don't need their features, if i need something i do it via one app or just by enabling developer mode (their are good customisations options there) and that's about it, and i love being able to do it without being disturbed by 3 other not needed customisations... anyway i was not talking about customisations, i was talking about the 2 app-stores, 2 or 3 galleries, 4 cloud apps and oh so many other bloadware that it seams it never stops, with you being only able to disable them, which does not help freeing memory nor stopping their services.
A good photo is actually all about the photographer... the rest comes second place. Hardware is nothing without lens. But yes hardware is important, how do you know 8.3 does not have OiS? Because gsmarena does not talk about it? Have you actually researched or you just believe it? This is also valid for IPS rating, at the end ips rating is just a stample for water resistance, a name, so how do you know it does not have water resistance?
Anyway, by your logic, samsung Photos are really bad, cause they always were bad before AI came a long. They could not lift a candle to what Nokia was doing. Well not that i actually like how Ai processed images turn out to be, they look as fake as it comes, yeah that includes HMD too. But i can understand why the mass likes them. Still does not mean the new camera software integrated in 8.3 is the same as it was at the beginning, don't juge a device because of a past one. And dxo mark? I mean really? Lumia 1020 scored around 80 points and i still can't see a picture in any device this days that is that true to color or true to life, that pratically looks like a proper camera did it. NONE and their AI make it even worse. Give me a shared cloud and i upload you 1020 pictures made by me, and make a comparison with the "great dxo mark" pictures of today.

Carol, 06 Nov 2020Well, ever used samsung? Software is subjective, yes, but i... moreRegarding the software, Nokia's software is up-to-date and clean but lacks basic features, while Samsung software may be heavily customized by has added useful features. Not all people want to update their phones to avoid bugs and planned obsolescence by companies.
Regarding the camera, do you know what makes a good photo? It's about good hardware and competent software processing. In the hardware side, the Galaxy Note 9 has OIS in its 2 rear cameras to counter hand shakes, has Dual PDAF for faster focusing, and dual aperture to automatically adjust how much light is allowed depending on the scene. Nokia 8.3 5G doesn't even have OIS in any of its 4 rear cameras and is known to have focusing issues in its previous phone like Nokia 8 and Nokia 7 plus. In the camera's software side, Samsung is known for its noise-free processing and lively photo output. While Nokia under HMD is not known to produce excellent photo output, you can check the reviews of DXO mark.

MR45, 05 Nov 2020Lol, are you serious? Software is subjective depending on p... moreWell, ever used samsung? Software is subjective, yes, but i am talking generally here. And generally, software quallity has a lot of factores and one of them is it's Update cycle, how clean it is would be the next. And samsung has none of this, so much garbage installed can only be met by chinese manufacturers, and maybe not even there. So yeah, software might be subjective but, drowing the line at what makes an OS, Pure Android is just high quality, vs garbage plus traking quallity that Samsung software is. Nit to mention 5G (future proof in all aspects). Camera quality is no way near Nokia's, that i can promise you. People should stop looking at gimmiks they never use. 99% of the time they take pictures of their suroundings and faces. Plus, the new camera software also has a lot of improvements and zeiss branded modules that can actually be usefull. Note 9 is already 2 years old... to recomand it over Nokia 8.3, is pure bs. If their would be an Samsung to choose, S20fe would be a way better option then Note 9.

Carol, 04 Nov 2020Software, camera, build quality and battery, just way better. Lol, are you serious? Software is subjective depending on preference. Camera is better on Note 9 software and hardware wise, I was amazed you missed the OIS of its 2 rear cameras and Samsung competent noise-free processing. Build quality of Note 9 is better, it has IP rating. While battery life is the only category where Nokia is better though not sure because GSMArena has not reviewed it yet. And don't tell me I'm biased because I am currently using a Nokia phone - Nokia 7 plus to be exact.

It has an AMOLED display, OIS on 2 rear cameras, stereo speakers, IP rating, etc. A flagship is always better than a midranger even if the former is already 2 years old.

Carol, 31 Oct 2020Yeah, and the OS is full of garbage.Android One is amazing. Feels clean and fast. I have a Nokia 8 Sirocco. My only gripe is is with the jump from Android v9 to v10, I lost RAW camera access, which made the Google Camera App stop working, so my pictures, especially low light, are lower quality now. Open Camera works great though and is a good compromise.
