Carol, 24 Aug 2020I forgot to answer your question: yes i think the gap is sm... moreYes i know nokia has a lot of expertise in networking. My earlier comments come purely from my most recent experiences. I had used a 520 and then a 730. They were very reliable and built to last. But smartphone market is the fastest evolving industry. Being out for a couple of years has surely left them with a lot to catch up which i personally feel isn't going anywhere. So after 5 years with nokia, i bought a realme with a heavy heart and I'm not disappointed at all.

If their was no nokia, chinaware would have been nonexistend, hack even xiaomi realised they need to pay nokia for their patents if they want their phones to work. So what are you talking about? Let's make a bet chineware soon will start to go down, as they slowly have nothing to copy and well the market is oversaturated! Soon a lot of them will follow HMD decision to enter low end market, as that market is the only one being able to grow, and bring some money in the company.

And now look at Nokia. They still have 18W Chargers, notched Displays and outdated Specs.
No wonder why Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo and Realme selling phones or gaining Marketshare much.
You will see, Nokia, Sony and Motorola are in 5 - 7 Years dead, Apple would become the second Sony.

I think the Nord and maybe the 4a have just rocked the potential buyers of this phone. What is its UPS? Is the camera going to beat the 4a (probably not) and it may equal or beat the Nord but is 100-150 more?

Okay so it might be corona but I don't agree with Nokia announcing a phone so early and it not going on sale within a month or two. By then it's forgotten about and the competition drowns it.

Now, with things getting... moreI forgot to answer your question: yes i think the gap is smaller then ever between china corporates and western ones. Most problematic remaining software and actuall phone abilities. But as far as i know some of them actually bought some Nokia licenses, might be that they bought antena design ones. Still so, as i told you when you started to not be nice in nokia comment sections, i will not buy one, cause i do not support this kind of faulplay businesess. The only brand i have respect for, in that area, would be Asus. They jumped into making smartphones, like all others, but they innovate, have a theme and are not in for a quick buck. With more then 30 years on the market they are at different league as the likes of the pup-up up brands from the est. But well ,they are Taiwanese.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2020Interesing explanation i must say. Now, with things getting... moreThat is what i meant. They use the same soc, different cheapper batches with the risk of higher computing failure rate. Maybe not in their 1000€ devices (i mean i hope so) but in the likes of Poco phone for sure, and most probably all China packed devices that floaded the market at least before 2019 have low quality hardware installed. As for the 1000€ devices. Maybe they are better made with more respect for the customer, but at the price, i would rather buy anything else. Here i exclude huaway as they have decades of hardware experience. It is not like i support them, but they are not in the same basket.

Now, with things getting more even like a chinese phone with a non chinese phone, we get to see the same Qualcomm SoC and same components with RAM and storage from samsung or whatever, do we really get to see a difference in the end user experience?

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2020Which part of the hardware do u think is 3rd class? I ask u... moreWell, it is a bit complicated but i'll try. As in every manufacturing segment, in hardware segment, especially when we talk microchip, circuits, whatever works on binary level, their are batches, or let's say, failure rate. Let's say here is the quality in 3 messures devided. First is the best, where hardware failure is almost nonexistent, let's say from 85% to 95% meets the requirements, second class meets the requirements between 70% and 85% and the last between 55% and 70. Well, The first line of batches is the most expensive, as they are controlled and meet the requirements. The second is not bad ider but they have a higher failure rate, this is mostly used by all manufacturers, because even tough it is not the greatest, it is not bad at all, and the third is well, the chippest, also with the most computing failure. At the human level this can be translated into slowdowns, glitches and rarely, system crashes. Of course this is issue is not always the hardware to blame. As there can be bugs at software level that can crash the system or slow it down. That is why is kinda hard for us to make a difference beside those times when only your device has the problem and others don't, then it is clearly a hardware failure and has less to do with software. This is just scratching the surface and quite rough said. Their are a lot of other things that do not meet the eye of the user. But anyhow, this is how chinaware is sudently cheapper the others. Just a small part from the big picture, of course.

Aluminum frames are not as durable and sturdy, at least with my my 6.1 plus. The side frame has tiny holes (like corroded) and the front glass has a long crack from a 2 feet fall.

Apple, Nokia, LG and Sony are stuck up with their Notches, 10 - 18 W Chargers and bad Software Performance. ( Except Apple!)
Samsung is a another Fiasco with their Exynos-Scam, they're destroying themselves, no wonder why Chinese companies are leading the Smartphone World in the Next years.

Btw, i'm not a CCP Fanboy, i'm just saying the Facts because those Companies give them opportunity. But what i admire about Nokia is their build Quality like you said, because even Samsung makes oveepriced Phones with Plastic frame and back.

Anonymous, 19 Aug 20208.3 has more bands. 9.3 no card slot, no 3.5mm.But 9.3 would come with 120hz, 108 MP and also with 5G.
The 8.3 for 599€ is just a dead arrival. OnePlus Nord does it better and also Moto G 5G because they have 90Hz and better Software for lesser Price.
Of course the 8.3 has more 5G bands, but when you look what OnePlus, Xiaomi and even Motorola offers 5G Phones for lesser Price, the 8.3 has no chance.
