This is what i found on the NOKIA DISCUSSION FORUM.
'1. Nokia have acknowledged the problem and have issued a service bulletin on 17.02.2011 outlining how NCPs should deal with it.
2. The problem is caused by a defect in the display from the manufacturer. Unconfirmed information is that the cause is within the display driver written on a chip which is physically embedded in the screen. The driver cannot be overwritten and the chip cannot be replaced on its own.
3. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the screen with a non-faulty one.
The defect cannot be resolved by any software edits/patches/mods/updates.
You need to keep checking with your local Nokia Care Point.'
So we'll have to wait till the non-faulty screens arrive at Nokia Care and then get the screens changed under warranty.
THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THE PURPLE SCREEN PROBLEM.
I will keep you guys informed here, i'll be visiting a center tomo.

john, 31 Mar 2011chill dude..I've noticed this purple hue about 3 months ago... morei'm not going to bring my phone to ncc since they are replacing the screen with screen that has the same issue..so like you i'm gonna wait for pr 2.o..but i will not expect brilliant things to happen as i read in some posts the some nokia shops are waiting for the calibrated screens to come as they have the same screen with the issue for replacement in their centers

I plan to buy a new phone C7, big screen, the camera is ok, but there are problems with the screen ... can anyone here suggest a model for me? I put these features, big screen (4 inches) , a good camera (at least 8MP), they might have 1500 mAh battery ... that even if the phone like that ... hahaha ...

john, 31 Mar 2011chill dude..I've noticed this purple hue about 3 months ago... morethe phone is amazing.maybe i'm just disappointed man...it's just hard to accept that one of the most important component of our touchscreen phone is affected (which is the screen itself)and nokia is not releasing any clear statement that will clear our minds if these is a software or a hardware issue...

why, 31 Mar 2011i guess we just bought an mp3 player for 18k...this is disg... morechill dude..I've noticed this purple hue about 3 months ago and nothing's changed. It's not getting any worse. For me, I'm satisfied with what I bought and really unaffected on this issue as it's really not easily seen. If it is a hardware issue, then how can a simple application like light control fix it? In my opinion, Nokia has tweaked some brightness settings and can be easily fixed with some update. Let's just wait and see what happens as some users are already stepping up regarding this issue. AMOLED problem or not, I've no regrets. Frankly, I think buying a samsung wave over this phone would be more regretful. who agrees?

They'll just say, "IT'S... morei guess we just bought an mp3 player for 18k...this is disgusting..before when i still had the chance to buy samsung wave 1 and declined and bought this stupid phone i guess i'm really stupid..i don't think software update can fix this..i'm thinking that my problem persisted not because of pr1.2 but because the screen quality degrades through time...i'm so disappointed because i bought mine for my birthday...

They'll just say, "IT'S JUST NORMAL (then they're going to show you a brand new C7 with the same discoloration)" hahaha. lol. anyway, our friend maverick has a more detailed input regarding this issue a few weeks back..try to search for it. I'm crossing my fingers that pr 2.0 will have this issue fixed.

john, 31 Mar 2011sorry dude, I forgot what site I got mine..just try to goog... morei'm not sure about this guys but i think this is software issue...i updated my fw to pr 1.2 and suddenly the problem persisted...i have lots of black and white picture in photos i have rihanna's good girl gone bad album art picture in black and white which is completely normal before..but now it appears to have the brown tint on parts where light and dark parts meets...it's is disturbing because it has affected the photos and videos..john do you think we can complain to NTC(national telco commission?

why, 31 Mar 2011where can i download that application..i'm really disappoin... moresorry dude, I forgot what site I got mine..just try to google it, and I'm sure you'll get one. Btw, in the settings of that app, don't you try to change the primary screen light to OFF.. you'll regret doing that ( I did! Good thing auto start is not turned on, so I just turned off my unit) .
Setting the brightness on light control at 75 would be fine and shows no discoloration. I'm not using that app all the time though as it eats up battery faster. I just turn it on when watching movies, playing games, etc. Good luck again dude.

Y... moreoh my god....i just notice today that i have that purple tint issue too..before when i was doing the analog screen test i wasn't able to see it..it wasn't visible before i'm sure..but when i was watching one music video in which i saw some patches of light purple and brown..i suspected and try the analog screen test again and now it's slightly visible...now i'm pissed off..i spent my hard earned money on something that is not worthy of it..i'm disappointed..

You are a bit wrong - Android is based on Linux, not Java. These are the apps that are written over a Java core by those lazy "software developers" who prefer not to bother with low-level programming. So basically Android is doomed due to this approach - develepment of fancy and eye-catching apps that demand a LOT of CPU power to perform simple tasks.

john, 31 Mar 2011got it dude..thanks.anyway, I'm still using pr 1.0 and have... moreI'm in the UK but I picked up the phone in Dubai. Nobody I know who's updated to PR 1.2 has any issues though I have read about some people having issues. I'm waiting for PR 2.0 too, cos the upgrade seems to finally make the C7 what it should have been from the beginning. Cheers.
