For all who is worried about battery life: that it was firs my complain about too. After buying this E50, in my first 4 days of use I must recharge twice ...but I have talk on it for 5 hours and I have use it a lot of time with bluetooth device and GPRS. Now I,m in holiday so I decide to test battery life, and that is 5 DAYS with normal stand by(5-10 min/day talk , no GPRS, no game, no bluetooth). For a simbian phone 5DAYS with BL-5c I think is very ok. And my battery is manufactured in China :). So.. dont worry about battery!!!

The nokia E50 is a very good business phone for the first time user. Being very light weight and slim it's quite a unobstrusive user friendly device compared to the bulking phones of today. The extreamly well laid out business applications make this a must buy for those looking for a office mate.

Nokia has a battery recall that affects the BL-5C battery used on the E50. The recall applies to batteries manufactured between Dec 2005 and Nov 2006 and you can check if you are affected by going to this Nokia link:

Here we go again kids. After all those notorious fires related to the batteries used by the world's largest handset manufacturer, Nokia has issued a product advisory for the BL-5C, Nokia-branded battery. That's right, Nokia branded, not just those third-party knockoffs everyone had been pointing the finger at previously. A staggering 46 million batteries in fact, all manufactured by Matsushita (aka, Panasonic) between December 2005 and November 2006, are said to be at risk of "dislodge." According to the release, "in very rare cases" the Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries could short circuit leading to an explosive burn. Nokia goes on to say that the danger only exists while charging the battery and of the 100 or so reported incidents, "no serious injuries or property damage have been reported." Oh really? So the loss of a leg no longer constitutes serious injury? The BL-5C is one of just 14 different batteries used in Nokia products so be sure to check the list below to see if your phone is one of the 52 Nokia handsets affected. If you're unlucky (or lucky, depending upon your viewpoint) enough to be affected, then Nokia will provide a replacement battery free of charge.

Update: We just received clarification from Nokia that the "overheating" referred to in their advisory will not result in an explosion or even a fire. At worst, batteries will "overheat, expand, and pop out of the phone (due to the expansion of the battery)" unlike the exploding Sony battery debacle. Feel better? Didn't think so.

Nice phone. I am here in the US and I am having problems with caller id. If I am on automatic network it does not show. If I do manual and select a network it works but I get very limited coverage. Also If I am on automatic network I get 3 bars and it sometimes wotn answer a call. I even tried calling it with another phone and after 3 rings voicemail kicked it while I can plainly see it has 3 bars. Help!!! I upgraded it to the new firmware and nothing. If you have answers pls post it. thank you in advance

This phone is not worth buying.

The speed of the interface is very slow. It takes ages to get you to your schedule screen, or to reply to an SMS, and specially to go into the clock to change your timezone at landing (7 seconds since key pressed). You may think I'm exaggerating, but in this device, you have to wait for everything.

The worst is the speakerphone freeze. It will make you embarrased if you're in a meeting, or if you're in a quiet environment. There's nothing you can do other than removing the battery (this of course drops the call). If it's an important confidential call, you have to choose between having the conversation in speakerphone in front of everyone, or dropping it.

The one good thing is looks, and battery life.

Go look at another phone. Don't waste your money in this one. Nokias are not what they used to be.
