guys....is this fone "blackberry capable" like the e50???I'm abt to upgrade to e51 from my e50....

One big problem with caller ID.
You have to choose if you want contact name to be displayed on sms or when someone calls.
In my case I have saved the phone number 1234567 and Country code +000 in the following format in the phone memory: +0001234567.
Now what happens is when someone send an sms I can see the contact name as the sms is on following format +0001234567 but when that person calls I only see the number and not the name as the call comes as 1234567.
When I only save the phone number without the country code I get the contact name when the person calls but when the same person sms I get the number only.
So I would say think twice before buying the phone or you will end up like me trying to memorize all the numbers.
Some plaese tell me how to solve this problem as I want to know who has sends me sms and also who calls me without memorizing the number.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Neither the Nokia 8600 or the 8800 are smart phones. E50 and E51 are smart phones. if you like a bit of showing off and got a lot of money to spend on a mobile phone get the 8600 or the 8800. but if you want a reasonably priced, well made all rounder get the Nokia E51.

and...what ... moreyes you can upload files with this phone but be advised it consumes a lot of data.
and this phone can handle word, text, excel, power point and pdf files. the current quick office application will not handle Microsoft office 2007 documents unless you purchase the latest version of Quick Office.

I have told many a tale about first time char... morethe initial charging process i know, and the process I've done over the past 8 years is,
1. The battery comes with a little boost from the factory. and it is better to use the phone till that little amount of power wears out.
2. After the battery wears out, charge the battery for 8 hours straight. (don't switch on the phone during this time for any reason)
3. Use the phone till the battery is dead.
4. Charge the battery for 4 hours straight with the phone switched off.
5. Again use the phone till the battery is dead.
6. And for one last time charge the phone for 4 hours straight with the phone switched off.
hereafter the the normal charging process will be perfectly fine. And if possible time how much time it consumes to charge from 0% to 100%. For example if the phone charges from 0% to 100% in 1 hour and 20 minutes unplug the charger as soon as possible after the charging in completed. Some people charge the battery all night and doing it regularly is not good for the battery.
One last thing. before you plug the charger in for charging the battery the experts advice to switch off the phone and do the charging. Plus wait till the battery gets to 0% in power before you charge at all possible times.
I've been following this procedure since 2000. The only phones that has let me down by doing this is the Nokia 6300 which had the standby time of barely 2 days and the Nokia N70 which required charging every night.

WINURA and the rest of the crew, as you know I'm a Jamaican living in Jamaica and right Jamaica is on the tip of the tongue of the entire planet due to my country's enormous success at the Olympic games. We now have the fastest male and female sprinter on the planet.
I hope you people are watching it on tv or your E51.
Well for me, my E51 is my personal gold.

I have told many a tale about first time charging. But do tell me how you went about your initial charging for your E51, was it one day, two or three and how many hours did you charge your battery for etc.

Winura, 20 Aug 2008depends on how you use the phone. i get a minimum of 3 days... moreso thats good right ? thanks Winura..really are as good as they say you are !

Sandeep, 20 Aug 2008how good is the battery life ? is it exceptional or good ? ... moredepends on how you use the phone. i get a minimum of 3 days and have got a maximum of 5 days. better do the old - fashioned initial charging before you use.

dude the design of the fone is so old like!! looks like an ancient mobile like the 3310!! but features r exceptional!! but i prefer n72!!:)
