The best phone ever made by Nokia. It never lags. Some of the phones come from china and are very bad and lags a lot. That's why i see so many complaints out here. But try the original one from Finland, you'll be amazed.

            To WINURA:

First of all I'm planning on purchasing the E51 today.

My retailer got it yesterday and called me to notify me. The price in Jamaican dollars is $25,450 before 16.5% tax and $29,649.25 after tax which is equivalent to GBP₤208.40 / EU$260.97 / US$409.52. All of these equivalents are based on the final Jamaican price after tax JM$29,649.25.

The dealer tells me that it was expensive for them to get so they can't give me a discount.

Original_Jamaican, 10 Jul 2008To WINURA: It's good to know with a smart phone there's ... moreyou're right. you have to be very careful when installing 3rd party applications on the phone. especially when they are not approved by nokia and the ones without a proper security certificate.

anyway i'm using F-Secure anti virus software, Search, Wi presenter, advanced call manager, easy reject which are approved by nokia.

other than that i use Skype, Windows messenger, G mail, DivX player, Google maps, WinRAR, and Yahoo! GO 3.0 on my E51 and haven't affected my phone's performance in anyway. but i don't use more than 2 applications at once.

I've been very happy with me. I wrote a review a while back about it:

                    i love this phone!!
it one of my few choice before but now I own N82..
design wise, simple and serious yet classy, very attractive, more attractive than N82, size is thin and the keypad is text friendly.
i would have bought it if it has a 5MP camera on it..

maybe they should make an e-series with a 5MP camerac", business phone with a touch of snaps

                      To WINURA:

It's good to know with a smart phone there's usually a solution for factory limitations. However, these 3rd party add-ons (especially if many) can have an impact on more than just memory, RAM too so in the long run your phone will be on the slower side.

I will only ensure that I only get the critical add-ons. I may not have owned a s60 phone before (I owned a Palm phone once) but I know the advantages with the 3rd party apps. That's what s60 mostly focuses on, 3rd party applications, that's why you don't get a fully loaded phone out of the box in comparison to s40 phones.

I asked you that question so I could know whether or not I should be prepared to get that software (smile).

Everytime i try to ins... morebefore you install any 3rd party applications on the E51 there are some settings you have to change. especially the ones which aren't developed by nokia and which don't have certificates etc. in order to do this go to,

menu > tools > settings > applications > application manager and set software installation to "ALL" and turn "OFF" the online certificate check. after doing this you will have no problems installing the applications.

in case you get a warning called "certificate expired", go to,

menu > tools > settings > general > time and date and set the year to 2007 instead of 2008 BEFORE installing the application. after installing you can change it back to 2008.

follow the instructions mate. you'll be fine. :-)
