      @ 3G explanatory:
If you do have a peremptory 3G necessities, than you might do have them , but I assume you do realize that majority of human population doesn't even have a cell phone, not to mention a 3G needs. Earlier post was addressed to someone who desperately screamed for certain 3G frequency like his/her life depends on it, and we all know it doesn't.

      Thanks.

E51 is not made for copying and pasting. What you need not E51 but PDA phone such as Sony P1i or Window Mobile base phone such as HP or O2 phone.

Cool phone. The problem is that I have not yet seen the "Pen(Edit) button" on the phone. It performs a very serious task when it comes to editing and copy/pasting texts between different applications.
Any idea about the existence of such key on E51?

Please provide review of the phone.
                1. Speed (as fast as 6120C?) 2. Heating problem? 3. Reception quality 4. Wifi stability 5. Battery life (last 2 days min).

If the above 4 are above expectation then this is worth the buy.

This is more for guy talks to grow up..
2.5G networks (GPRS, cdma2000 1x) are the enhanced versions of 2G networks with data rates up to about 144kbit/s.

3G networks (UMTS FDD and TDD, cdma2000 1x EVDO, cdma2000 3x, TD-SCDMA, Arib WCDMA, EDGE, IMT-2000 DECT) are the latest cellular networks that have data rates 384kbit/s and more.
4G is mainly a marketing buzzword at the moment. Some basic 4G research is being done, but no frequencies have been allocated. The Forth Generation could be ready for implementation around 2012.

UMTS is one of the Third Generation (3G) mobile systems being developed within the ITU's IMT-2000 framework. It is a realisation of a new generation of broadband multi-media mobile telecommunications technology. The coverage area of service provision is to be world wide in the form of FLMTS (Future Land Mobile Telecommunications Services and now called IMT2000). The coverage will be provided by a combination of cell sizes ranging from 'in building' Pico Cells to Global Cells provided by satellite, giving service to the remote regions of the world. The UMTS is not a replacement of 2nd generation technologies (e.g. GSM, DCS1800, CDMA, DECT etc.), which will continue to evolve to their full potential.

Why do we need the 3G. Beacuse it has a faster data transfer and will be compatable in most countires that 3G avialable. Such as when I travel to Japan my phone continue working on 3G for phone calles and checking e-mails of be able chatting with family to USA.

Sorry, I was not aware that 3G also has different frequency. How do we find out the 3G Freg. on each phone on Spec. for each phone?

I just found out that the Nokia 6555 is an AT&T phone but also has a 3g frequency of 850/2100Mhz. So I guess it does work but will the 3g work everywhere in the U.S.? If yes then the E51 will. Can anyone respond who has a phone with 3g frequency of 850/2100Mhz or this phone that the 3g works everywhere in the U.S? I really do want to buy this phone but this issue is the only thing that is stopping me.

What I meant was the 3g frequency only. Yes the GSM/GPRS/EDGE has 850/900/1800/1900 MHz which means it work all over the world. But as far the 3g frequency this phone only has 850mhz. And because of that it may or most likely not work since AT&T mainly has a 3g frequency of 1900mhz. Only few parts of US has 3g frequency of 850Mhz.

Let me ask people this. Has anyone bought this phone now in the USA and their 3g works with the 850Mhz? If it does then its probably because you are fortunate to have that frequency.

My Self have Cingular or say now AT&T in USA. Now AT&T has the 3G, 1900 and GSM. So, this phone cover all the Freq. The E51 phone you buy from Asia is unlock. So, no problem to take out Asia Card and replace with At&T card. All my other Nokia such as N73, N70, E61, N76, 6300 and 6120 worked on AT&T. Why not E51?

Are you sure it will work in the USA? Not now at least. AT & T which is our only carrier that has 3g mostly has it on 1900Mhz not 850mhz which this phone has!! Yes please read carefully. People living in bangkok or europe probably are not aware of this. They should just say it will work in the USA.

I guess since it only has 850mHz HSDPA for U.S. frequency, this phone is not worth buying among all Nokia phones except probably the N95 U.S. Version which has both the 850/1900Mhz frequency for HSDPA. But it doesn't have the 2100Mhz frequency added on. I don't understand why Nokia does this. They always fall short of having complete features. Why don't they just have the 1900Mhz frequency instead of the 850mhz for now if not both for the U.S. customers. Our HSDPA is primarily 1900Mhz and very few 850Mhz. It's mind boggling why they do this. It doesn't make any sense.
