i'm going to get my hands on one of these but it's SH and will probably pay more on the 16GB memory card then on the phone itself lol

After Fring is installed and it starts up for the first time, you have the option to let it run automatically at all times. If you disable this option then Fring will only run when you tell it to run...meaning you start it manually.

I just wanted to add that I was able to run internet phone over 3G and it worked awesome! It does not work over regular GPRS though. So for those who try to use SIP it might be useful to know these things...

You are quite right. Fring is power hungry and the company says they are still yet to find a way to reduce the power consumption of Fring.
Other than that, it's a near perfect program. I would say Fring should be automatically installed on every E51 as soon as the phone comes out of the box.

I've had this phone for over a year now. I bought it last November. I had some minor problems with phone's software but since I installed the latest version it runs quite smoothly! I especially like the SIP(Internet telephone) and the WiFi - cool features! :) Mine is produced in Finland. However I have the same problem with rubber buttons - they did not fall off but the power button is somewhat damaged and misshaped and looks ugly. Otherwise no problems whatsoever! Overall it's a good phone with nice features and quite cheap for it's class.

Further to my previous question - a colleague has the same phone with same version software(220.34.37 20-10-2008 RM-244), yet he has the option of showing calender weeks or not. I don't have the option. Please advise.

you have to remove the four screws at the back to clean the screen. not sure if that will void your warranty though. anybody having problems with battery? i've had my e51 for close to two years and my battery just lasts 1 day tops normal usage.
