To the display quality again :

If the resolution of the screen has only 240x320 pixel then 16,7 Mio colours are superfluous ( its to much )

because 1 pixel can show only 1 colour

devices like N97 which has higher screen resolution can use the 24bit (16,7 mio colours) more efficient cause of the many pixels

but years ago samsung and Sony Ericsson had in most of her devices 167x220 pixel resolution displays compared to nokia which had this times mostly 240x320 pixels
that was the time where SE K750i was trendy
( it was my device at this time)

so Nokia used good quality displays but its true that the komkurrenz developed theirs now into better now

AMOLED-Technology, HD Resolution and LED-Backlight are getting the next Generation features of the mobile device displays

in my opinion is the Diplay resolution of the E52 high enough in ratio to the 2"4 Display

negative in my mind is the build quality of Nokias displays because they are of cheap plastics with glas and get very fast traces

but in general is the E52 a feature-fullpacked nice phone

Interested Buyer, 17 Aug 2009I'm defintiely buying this phone.. but Lithium Polymer? For... morewhats wrong with you guys. when the battery is li-ion and the capacity is 950mah you people complain saying that the battery is useless and worthless. when nokia puts a more powerful battery with 1500 mah and li-pol you complain about exploding.

one thing i want to make sure is that if you want the mobile just buy it and dont go to any site and get worried more by investigating.

last year when i bought e51 people used to say that it has highest radiation, ear pain, headache and all that stuff. believe me am using e51 for the past one and half years and i dint have any problem as such.

its just a matter of personal preferance. if you want to buy just buy if not then go crack.

In Ayala Cebu PH, there's one shop in The Maze that's selling the phone for PHP15,890 cash / PHP16,690 credit. Metal Grey Aluminium only.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2009It is a really good phone, I'm liking it more and more. ... moreYou don't know what you are saying.

              Nokia screens are lovely.

I have a E51 and when I compared a photo on the E51's display compared to a Blackberry Pearl's display, the Blackberry owner was shocked to see the vast difference on my 19.7 million colour display compared to their 65k display.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2009Eventually everything will go touchscreen as they will beco... moreOf course, technology doesn't usually age well.

I'd like to see an intuitive and hassle-free touch screen equivalent to a hardware keypad, but I imagine it'll be quite some time until then.

I personally believe the qVGA screen should remain a standard for the rest of Symbian S60's lifetime.

Nokia should base their next OS around a higher resolution display.

I think we're headed towards ultra-portable PCs with the ability to make calls, rather than a feature-packed phone.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2009I'm not sure I'd be all too thrilled about a resolution rev... moreEventually everything will go touchscreen as they will become much more sensitive, intuitive and hassle free to use.

Then QVGA screens - and the very form factor of phones like the E52 - will be as dated as the Startac!

I think it was relatively obvious even towards the end of the 90s that phones would eventually be getting hard drives and touch screens. Eventually phones would have large storage capacities (memory cards, not hard drives - th next development will be SSD's) and would do away with physical buttons.

I think the next step will be roll-out/foldable (OLED) screens and possibly even holographic displays, which will happen in unison with superior battery life.

The next big market will be lithium development, as the world pushes for green technologies now we have removed our economies from the base of oil, which was destroying the environment.

The financial meltdown was planned for this very reason. It was no coincidence.

With car manufacturers now spending billions on the development of 'clean' lithium battery technology as they restructure for a changing and environmentally aware world, this will surely help out the market for postable devices, which will have a direct impact on how far you can push the bracket with digital technology.

That is, advancements in technology are linked directly to the efficient supply of energy...

But I guess it's inevitable, they can't stick to qVGA forever... For now, however, I'm fine with qVGA on a 2.4" screen.

                                This isn't North Korea.

Devices like this have to pass stringent safety tests, with the manufacturer even more concerned about safety as they have shareholders and bottom lines to look after and don't really want to pay out millions in compensation or even more doing a product recall.

Li-Po probably used to be unstable, but I think times have changed a bit now and these batteries are now very safe and now used more and more in portable devices as they are superior (and lighter) compared to their Li-Ion alternatives.

Case in point is the Sony PS3 controller. Used by millions across the world now for several years. Regularly charged/discharged then hundreds of millions of times and how often have you heard of one exploding and/or causing even a minor injury to someone.

I think it's time to take that tin foil hat off...

For all I know Li-Poly batteries are very powerful but dangerous as well and needs special care due to it's explosive nature. used in RC's but on a celphone sounds like a minibomb in my pocket. (search utube and find lotsa videos of kids tryin to explode their li-poly bats. fun) ^_^
