Cost to make mobile phone is actually very cheap. Nokia is laughing all the way to bank.

Stop worrying about the 2-letter-keyboard-thingy. It will be much faster than T9 with normal keyboards or even small lame full-qwerty pads. Once you learn to use it; Which now that I think about it, might take quite a while indeed...

According to all the reports we're hearing from E75 users perhaps it is a good thing that the E55 is taking so long. I'm used to buy fresh Nokias with beta firmware and guinea-pig the bugs out myself until they finally fix it after 8 firmware flashes; But this time it seems the E75 came out in alpha.
Maybe the E55 can actually be fully used right out of the box before the typical 4 or 5 firmware flashes. How cool (and Nokia-rare) would that be?

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2009600-700 euros.600-700 Euros is total nonsense.
The E55 will be priced at 260+Tax. In most countries in EU that will mean an extra 20% or so.
It will end up at around 320 Euros max. Anything over that is a rip-off. Anything over 300 sharp will make me think "hey perhaps I should get that windows mobile thingy instead... it's only a little X more and I can use my finger and look cooler".

pokgai, 28 Apr 2009Does this phone have metal cover at the back? Similar to E71?E55 has a metal back cover just like E71 but it is a lot thinner than that of E71.
I cant wait for this to be released! check out this site:
w w w.cnet.com.au/nokia-e55-339295037.htm
(remove the space b/w w's... :-) )
if you scroll down to the user comments you can see some guy saying that the price of E55 will be around $550-$600. I dont know how credible it is but though ppl might want to know.
chow!

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2009there is no way that the keypad on E55 is better than that ... moreeh no, you don't have to press twice to get the second character. you just use t9, as usual! the difference compared to an regular three wide button phone is that this method requires less button presses, ie it should go faster.

there is no way that the keypad on E55 is better than that on E71!! The phone is perfect in every aspect except for the keyboard, you have to press twice to get the second character! nokia is trully gambling with this one. Why couldn't they just make the phone with a proper full keyboard!!?
